Hi all, [CC'd to Derrick Brashear from openafs.org, I just hope not to end up in his SPAM-dump] sorry for the long silence about the openafs-package on the opensuse-buildservice list... I'd really like to tie the opensuse-build to the official openafs distribution. For this to happen we need some build-system- and repository- dependent spec-file, because the spec-file for fedora looks quite different from that of SLES9. I know, in OBS you can use different spec files for each repository, but this approach does not scale (I have already 4 of those in my normal SuSE-only package). I see two possibilities for a differentiated approach: 1) make the buildsystem call a script messing up the spec file before the actual build starts. 2) use of predefined macro-files. I guess something like that will help a few projects, but the question is how to define a script-/macro-name to be widely useful. Anyway, either way requires changes to the build-system. Way 2) is closer to rpm, but then the provided macros need to reflect other macros provided silently by the build system. Way number 1) is build-system agnostic and _could_ also be used to brigde the gap between .rpm and .deb Thus, I'd vote for way 1). Any comments ? Hello, I'm building KDE 4.1 on a local PPC BS right now. I use openSUSE 11.0 PPC with obs-server-1.1.0.4791M-2.1 - I followed instructions from http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Build_Service_Installation_Tutorial/op… to import openSUSE 11.0. Now, when I look at repositories, I see, that repos are put into directory 'standard' (like /srv/obs/repos/Apache/standard). As I want to build for 10.3 and factory later on, how can I change this? Hi, since there are only 7 build service mirrors world-wide, I am happy to let you know that I have just arranged a new one. Number 8 :-) Located in the U.K., so this mainly affects users outside of Germany. Nice thing is, it will mirror the *complete* BS tree (which only 2 or 3 other mirrors do). Hello all of you, virtualization addicts! [reference] OpenVZ is container-based virtualization for Linux -> http://wiki.openvz.org/Main_Page [/reference] It's been quite a while since any OpenVZ kernel package shows up on the Build Service. SLES10 2.6.16 kernel is still maintain by the OpenVZ team but openSUSE users had it hard getting newer OpenVZ kernel running without giving up on Suse kernel configuration and patches. So here comes the new 'Virtualization:OpenVZ' project hosted on BS. It aims at providing recent openvz kernel builds while being as close as possible to the original Suse kernel ABIs and default configurations. Some trade-offs had to be made though. Most notably, Apparmor patches could not accommodate with OpenVZ ones. I suspect this would take a significant amount of work and testing to get them both. Two OpenVZ kernels has been packaged: - 2.6.24 -> Virtualization:OpenVZ:STABLE sub-project, available repositories : SLE_10, openSUSE_10.3 and openSUSE_11.0. - 2.6.26 git -> Virtualization:OpenVZ:HEAD sub-project, available repositories : openSUSE_11.0 and openSUSE_Factory. Appropriate administration tools are included in each repository. Packages are: kernel-ovz-default, kernel-ovz-pae, kernel-ovz-debug vzctl, vzquota, linux-kernel-headers, kernel-ovz-source. OpenVZ requires templates to create containers. You can find some of them at http://wiki.openvz.org/Download/template/precreated or create one yourself (search openvz wiki). I will soon add an openSuse 11.0 template in the 'Virtualization:OpenVZ' repository. Also you need IPv6 enabled (use Yast) to load required openvz kernel modules. Last but not least, please consider those packages at beta stage. Comments/bug reports are greatly appreciated. Especially I would be grateful to any experienced kernel packager who would have a look at Virtualization:OpenVZ:HEAD/kernel-source and the set of diff applied to Kernel:HEAD/kernel-source and tell me if I did commit any 'spec file blasphemy'. [opensuse-buildservice] Read-only build service account

Hi, I've done some scripts from the GNOME team that reads data from the build service. It will hopefully be useful in the near future. One of the scripts reads data from the build service and should be run in a cron job. Since I don't trust myself (true :-)), I'd love to be sure that this script can't do any damage and so a read-only access to the build service would be quite helpful there. Right now, the script runs with my account, but not in a cron job. Is this something that we can setup?
