[opensuse-buildservice] openSUSE:Tools:Devel providing now also cross-build OBS Packages

Hi, after working hard, there are now prebuild sets of cross-build packages for the OBS. openSUSE:Tools:Devel contains a new structure for the Developer packages for OBS. "obs-all*" Projects: These contain all packages of OBS build from one source, e.g. osc, build, obs-server, obs-worker, obs-api, signd and the obs-utils "obs-all-svn" Project: SVN snapshot build from svn trunk revision, signalled in the package version numbers as "*-1.1.0.<SVN snapshot>S-*". "obs-all-cross" Project: SVN snapshot with cross-build patch, signalled in the package version numbers as "*-1.1.0.<SVN snapshot>C-*". "obs-server-svn" Project: Only the obs-server packages are build from SVN snapshot. qemu-svn: QEMU build from a SVN Snapshot and with lots of patches. Needed to run the cross-build. qemu-gcc4-svn: Experimental Version of QEMU using the new tcg and compiled with gcc 4.x. This is work in progress. Don't use that for cross-build at the moment. To run cross-build in addition to normal build, you need to install openSUSE:Toos:Devel/obs-all-cross and openSUSE:Toos:Devel/qemu-svn. Then edit /etc/sysconfig/obs-server, start OBS and ready. Now you can use also the arm architecture using the arch string "armv4l", in addition to i586, x86_64, ppc and ppc64. Keep happy hacking. [opensuse-buildservice] only src.rpm build ?

Hi, just a question, do we have a use case somewhere, where only a src.rpm should get build, but no binary packages ? We have frequently the case that people are confused why OBS can not expand their BuildRequires, even though the package build successfully. So I think about to let a build failing, if no binarie rpms are generated. (The case that only a src.rpm is created happens by wrong usage of %if statements frequently. Hi, I'd like to generate a package for different distributions using OBS. The package requires to create a user and install a service. Via a search engine, I found this PDFs: http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/en/9/9b/LinuxTag2006_Build_Service_2.pdf http://files.opensuse.org/opensuse/en/5/57/FOSDEM_building.pdf But when I use user_group_add, I get following error: fg: no job control Are these macros supported by OBS or the distributions? Is there an example package? Are was this just an idea and I have to write if clauses for every distribution (openSUSE, Fedora, Mandriva) Thanks, Florian

The BuildService doesn't build packages in KDE:Community. This is seems to be, because all openSUSE:*/standard base repositories are missing. Is this intended? Shall I fix it? Hello, http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Build_Service_Installation_Tutorial/op… suggests to use 'standard' as repository name. But this seems to have the side effect of having a meaningless name as repository. <project name="openSUSE:11.0"> <title>openSUSE 11.0 distribution</title> <description></description> <repository name="standard"> <arch>ppc</arch> </repository> </project> I tried to replace 'standard' with 'openSUSE_11.0', which seems to be the standard name for openSUSE 11.0 repos, but I get: Sending meta data... BuildService API error: package_save_error (400) Try again? ([y/N]): How could I fix this problem? As the name 'standard' will be a problem as soon as I start to build for factory and 10.3... [opensuse-buildservice] daily or weekly git checkout as source for automated build?

Hi, is it possible, to have the build server automatically check out a URL for example from: http://git.gitorious.org/dbus-cplusplus/mainline.git and then use the checked out stuff as source package for the build? If the build server does not natively support this can the checkout be done in the spec file? [opensuse-buildservice] download packages on demand (hackweek project)

Hi, during the last hackweek I worked on the obs so that it is able to resolve dependencies using metadata and that it download certain packages on demand. What and Why: If you install a local obs you have to setup the initial distributions. If you want to build against a distribution like openSUSE which is already part of the "official" obs you can use the remoteurl feature. In case your preferred distribution isn't hosted on the "official" obs you have to setup the base distributions on your own. The first step is that you have download the complete package tree. IMHO it is really annyoing to download _lots_ of GBs if you just want to test something. Another reason why I did it is that I wanted to get some more knowledge about the backend:) So during the hackweek I implemented something which just downloads the required packages on demand (precondition: the backend needs access to the internet). How does it work (currently only debian metadata support is available): As debian stores all relevant information for dependency resolving in one big file (for instance http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2) the scheduler simply parses this file and builds up all the internal datastructures based on this single file. Now if a worker or an user makes a request for a certain package the repserver checks if the file was already downloaded. If it doesn't exist the requested package will be downloaded and forwarded to the requester. In case the requested file already exists it'll be directly delivered (without downloading it again). Install instructions: Using this feature is quite simple, first of all you have to apply the attached patch. Then you have to setup the base distribution (for instance debian sid): mkdir -p /srv/obs/build/Debian:SID/standard/i586/:full # download and install the Packages file curl http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-i386/Packages.bz2 | bunzip2 > /srv/obs/build/Debian:SID/standard/i586/:full/Packages # fix the permissions chown -R obsrun:obsrun /srv/obs/build # install the project config etc. (we're reusing the Debian:Etch file) osc meta prjconf Debian:Etch > /srv/obs/projects/Debian:SID.conf # now open this file with $EDITOR and add the following line Preinstall: debconf # this is just a workaround... osc meta prj Debian:Etch > /srv/obs/projects/Debian:SID.xml # now open this file with $EDITOR and add the following line <download baseurl="http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian" metafile="Packages" mtype="deb" /> # additionally replace all occurrences of "Etch" with "SID" # fix the permissions chown -R obsrun:obsrun /srv/obs/projects # finally import the new base distribution into the database RAILS_ENV="production_slave" ruby /srv/www/obs/frontend/script/import That's it:) By the way if the <download /> element is found in a project's metadata file the obs will perform the things described above. This new feature should have no impact on existing projects it's just optional. Feedback, bugreports etc. are welcome - I hope there's someone who finds it useful:) Marcus
