on this:
http://www.sony.it/product/vn-e-series/vpceh2n1e-w.it1
I Installed from dvd, kde and gnome3, I tested only kde, gnome3 is too
much strange to use for now :-)), in ten minutes I cannot manage to use
anything on it, this is my son's notebook, 18 yearsold, he will decide
what use, may be a young mind could use it:-))
installation last less than an hour and went very good
-screen works ok out of the box
-wireless works ok out of the box, some difficulty to have the network
password memorized, I don't know how, but after some restart and tenth
of root and network passwords given I succeed :-)), I think some work on
this should be done, I didn't used kwallet, may be this the problem??
-wired works out of the box
-broadband works out of the box
-sound works ok out of the box
-card reader works out of the box
-special keys works out of the box
-sleep I will test
-touchpad works as simple mouse, scroll doesn't works, I think it is the
same shit of hardware as my dell latitude, we will try later when the
upgrade will be ready
-thunderbird crash sometimes, but after some restart and some change of
theme (the original is veeeeery ugly) it seems to works,
-suspend works out of the box
My son's comments: it is quite complicate to have mp3 dvd and other
multimedia support, putting an icon on the desktop that perform this
could be a good idea, too much passwords to give to perform network
other comments will follow

Hi,
I'm glad to tell that my latest update to the current 12.1 (Goldmaster?)
finally does boot without 'nomodeset' on my Asus M4A89 GTD Pro/USB3
motherboard based machine. That is, radeonhd and Gnome3/Gnome shell
works with hardware acceleration on AMD 890 GX graphics.

I've got a bizarre GNOME 3 issue on my openSUSE 12.1 RC2 laptop. I
usually am in the Chrome browser, but it fails in Chromium as well. At
seemingly random times, I'll browse to a web site or activate some
JavaScript widget and the screen will suddenly drop back to a login
prompt! I think I can poke around and find a sequence of operations
that will trigger this, but what do I have to do to get log files /
crash dumps to figure out what's happening?

The next meeting of the Testing Core Team will be November 28, 2011 at 18:00 UTC
on Channel #opensuse-testing on the Freenode IRC Network
(irc://irc.freenode.net/opensuse-testing). Our preliminary agenda includes an
analysis of the 12.1 testing cycle. We hope to answer questions such as "What
worked?", "What did not?", and "How can we improve for 12.2?".
In our last meeting help on November 7, we discussed our experiences with 12.1
RC2, and what bugs we had encountered. The full meeting log is available at
http://community.opensuse.org/meetings/opensuse-testing/2011/opensuse-testi….
As oppenSUSE 12.1 will be released before my next communication, I wish everyone
a good installation. Three of my machines have been updated to 12.1 GM, and all
are working quite well.

zypper dup from RC1 -> RC2 successful every where afaics. Had initial
problems of packages not being available, probably mirrors not yet
current.
NVidia proprietary driver installed and working.
synaptics/touchpad taps do *not* work, could this be related to the nvidia
driver?
tks,
