sftp broken in konqueror

I installed Leap 15.5 today. I have several computers and communicate/transfer files between them using sftp in konqueror. I have submitted a bug report but I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and found a workaround or simple solution. My current workaround is to install the 15.4 files for konqueror and dolphin.

1-issue-generator not generating; 2-last login absent

I have multiple installations where I removed issue-generator for some period until I decided to reverse my attitude about it. The main idea was, and remains, I don't want to see IP addresses onscreen with VT logins. Now I have some installations where even though it has been reinstalled, login prompts on VTs are simply hostname login: on an otherwise blank screen until such time as I systemctl start issue-generator.service Also on all these installations, logging in fails to report date last logged in. Bluetooth NOW is saving transfers into OBEXD!

Hey, Wonder to advise that new Bluetooth coming with latest TW updates stopped to save thet file ransfers to the expected folder: Documents/Bluetooth and just started to place it into the /home/user/.cache/obexd folder! Please correct this in the next TW update, or even guide to correct the issue manually! Thank you! plymouth only showing for a brief second on boot

Hi, I'm struggling to get plymouth fully working on openSUSE Tumbleweed on an RPI CM4, but I'm not sure this is specific to RPI4 at all, I usually use a verbose mode without plymouth on all my other opensuse machines. I'm using a modified JeOS image from https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi4 with a seperate /boot partition and a encrypted root partition. It's supposed to show a png image during the whole boot process, but it's only show for a brief second after the LUKS partition is unlocked. On reboot however, it works perfectly. This works on Debian bookworm with the same configuration (on the same rpi), on Debian the logo is perfectly shown during the whole kernel boot process including the luks passphase. The system in question suddenly displays Blocked executable in the ESP, ensure grub and shim are up to date: /boot/efi/ EFI/grub/shim.efi Authenticode checksum [be435df7cd28aa2a7c8db4fc8173475b77e5abf392f76b7c76fa3f698cb71a9a] is present in dbx I found that it is possible that this happens if another OS was installed before, but that was not the case here. Anybody has a suggestion why this could happen? Support, on english firefox surfing the opensuse pages or opensuse wiki, it shows the english editions of the suse websites, respecting the language settings given by the firefox browser application. can I select and surf a different language of the suse pages by adding some parameter to the URL or can this be achieved in some other way than setting language settings inside the webbrowser itself? thanks.

openSUSE leap 15.6 ready for primetime already? zypper today brought in patches

Support, today or the other recent day, zypper on 15.6 brought in the first time updates that were patches. Some day or week ago there were still tons of new packages but all came via zypper up, some final refreshes or rebuilds to the final 15.6 level or so? today also came some openSUSE-release and openSUSE-release-ftp so I figure maybe we have arrived at pretty much the final release level (rtm, rtw, gold)? maybe i can push some boxes from 15.5 to 15.6 safely now? thanks all.

I am having a hauppauge card for sat and digital dvbt. Hi, I am using Tumbleweed with KDE 6 on a machine here. I decide to update the machine today by passing 'zypper dup' into Konsole. After a bit the update completed and 'zypper ps -s' said there were no core libraries updated but I proceeded to powercycle the machine. After doing this the machine is stuck at the following displayed on screen > GRUB _ Can you tell me what may have happened and the steps to try to attempt to get this repaired?

Automatically grow luks root partition on boot

Hi, The RPI4 JeOS image (https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi4) automatically grows the root filesystem partition on boot. I have a custom partition setup based on this image where the root filesystem is encrypted. It has 3 partitions: 1. fat16 UEFI, 2. ext4 /boot partition 3. luks ext4 root partition. I create an image of this setup to use on several machines, and I'd like to automatically grow the luks partition on boot. My understanding is that it's normally done by systemd-repart, but it is possible to set it up so it resizes the root partition after cryptsetup before mounting the root partition? How do I set that up? Jonas

Unable to load X11 session after Tumbleweed update:

Hi, I decided to update an i386 Tumbleweed machine here to the latest 20240506 snapshot there were many many packages listed for update (1900+). I used snapper to create a snapshot manually prior to the update. The update appears to have completed fine without incident. I then powercycled the machine. Now when the SDDM desktop display manager is displayed, I am able to select X11 session type then enter my password and login. Once logged in, the desktop is for the most part unusable. Menu button is covered by workspaces, taskmanager is partially blank, (konsole is also unusable). I can then switch to TTY1 and enter my username and password. Passing 'inxi -Gxx' displays the following -> https://paste.opensuse.org/pastes/f42c153b3d71 It appears to me that Xwayland is being used ever though I have selected the X11 session type at SDDM login. Looking through /.config/kdeglobals (using TTY1) does not show -> [QtQuickRendererSettings] SceneGraphBackend=software I know this is probably not a software rendering issue. Previously I have forced software rendering by editing /etc/environment and adding -> QT_QUICK_BACKEND=software KWIN_COMPOSE=02ES Do you believe this may be an issue with a newer version of Mesa now? Can you tell me the best way to force X11 session to load? -Best Regards

Only economic print quality with HP LaserJet Color on Leap 15.5 (and older)

Hi, I'm using openSUSE since long time (still have books and install media for 6.4), not always on my daily drivers, but on servers, on small travel laptop, for testing etc., thus I never really had to look at the printing system. Finally I decided to switch from MacOS X to Leap on my current ThinkPad T480 and it came to the printer installation over network. Printer is a HP LaserJet Pro 400 Color (M451dw), installed with the "HP-setup". It was found, recommended driver was the "manufacturer-PPDs/hplip-hpps/hp-lj_300_400_color_m351_m451-ps.ppd.gz", printing works. But, the quality is very bad, it looks like economic mode, but for sure, the "HPEconoMode" is disabled (False). I also checked all other options in the driver-settings without success. The problem is not related to this specific laptop, but also for two others, installed with Leap too, while printing on an Epson XP-820 inkjet works perfectly, as it does from MacOS X (10.13 and 10.15) on the same ThinkPad and an old MBP13 with the HP LaserJet. Is there a reason that Wire (encrypted VOIP-like client) isn't available in openSUSE repos? Is there an issue around licensing or open source elements? It is for example available in F-Droid. Been using the AppImage for years on openSUSE Leap. Just noticed that the Wire Downloads page consistently points to an old AppImage, whilst there are newer versions on their GitHub. So I grabbed the AppImage from there, only to find I can't login with it due to an error "Wire can't access your system's safe storage". Following the link provided leads to this page: https://github.com/wireapp/wire-desktop/wiki/Grant-access-to-system's-keychain-(Linux) It only references people using Snaps or not running a full DE, but it seems to apply to the AppImage too. Annoyingly, that now means the app won't run without having something like gnome-libsecret or kwallet. I've managed to lock away the latter in a cupboard and thrown away the key, I don't want to have to be nagged to use that now just for one app. If Wire-desktop was in an official openSUSE repo maybe this wouldn't be necessary? gumb

Sound on HP laptop not functioning properly

Hi, This weekend I have bought a HP 17-cp3076nd laptop, and installed Tumbleweed on it. I get no sound from it. If I *hover above* the speaker icon, I see the device that should be active, but if I *click* on it, the message is No devices found. If I go to System settings, there are two audio devices, and if I select the one connected to the laptop speaker, I get the Left-Right test sound OK. The selected device is, as said, visible when one hovers above the speaker icon. The device connected to the laptop speaker is an AMD Family 17h/19h HD audio controller, kernel driver in use snd_hda_intel. Which is reported to be active by lsmod. Hi, I'm using the following kernel parameters to enable networking and SSH so the LUKS encrypted root partition can be unlocked remotely in case automatic unlocking fails: net.ifnames=0 rd.neednet=1 ip=192.168.250.20::192.168.250.200:255.255.255.0::eth0:off When the system is booted, it's supposed to use NetworkManager and switch to another IP address, but this does not happen automatically. NetworkManager is connected to a connection named "eth0", which has automatically been created, instead of the actual network connection I've added. Setting a priority on the connection does not make it switch either. I've tried adding a systemd service to reset the network address on the interface before NetworkManager is started, the service is started on boot, but it still uses the eth0 connection with the IP address set by the kernel. The service looks like this: [Unit] Description=Release Network Address Before=network-pre.target [Service] Type=oneshot ExecStart=/usr/local/bin/network-reset.sh [Install] WantedBy=network-pre.target In /usr/local/bin/network-reset.sh I've tried the following: "ip addr del 192.168.250.20 dev eth0" and "ip addr flush eth0" I've also tried "ip link set eth0 down" and "ip link set eth0 up" and various combinations of the above. Redhat has a issue for the same thing here: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1787021 But the solution at https://access.redhat.com/solutions/3017441 seem to be closed to commercial users. 15.6 rc iso - keyboard layout not respected? english only everywhere.

Support, apparently I am a real noob, the keyboard language layout seems to be english only. even when i chose from the initial grub2 menu a different language alltogether then it switches over to that language in the grub2 menu itself all right back with 15.5 it would then set the keyboard layout all right for the rescue system as well. but not in the 15.6rc iso. when booting into that rescue submenu entry and waiting for rescue too fire up, later right before the rescue login there is that kind of ancient style text mode menu or something where it asks me once more for language settings, and its about keyboard there i think i remember. but even selecting a nonenglish entry there it is still english after the login into root on the console. any way to acutally set a keyboard language during boot? with kernel parameters? or how does this all work? thanks for teaching a noob.

How can I determine what causes this strange behavior?
