zypper on 11.2 - error retrieving metadata

File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/11.2/' Warning: Disabling repository 'Packman Repository' because of the above error. Failed to download /repodata/repomd.xml from http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc/SuSE/11.2/ Warning: Disabling repository 'VideoLan Repository' because of the above error. It seems every month or two a zypper ref causes this to happen again. After waiting a few minutes and doing another zypper ref it works. What's going on here, a zypper bug? Curl? No Mic in VIA VT1708S

Hello Mates, i've got a new PC (ASRock N68-S Board) with a VIA VT1708S Chip. My Headset is plugged in into the pc's backside. And i also tried the FrontMic. Sadly i can just hear, but the mic isn't useable. I've launched alsa-info.sh and i've placed it there: http://www.alsa- project.org/db/?f=ee9a92b31b4cecfff9c044e8026342fe6e35630e Has anyone experience with this Chip and has maybe a solution? amarok crash

Hey Group; Even before the bootsplash from a icon amarok just stops. If I run it from a X terminal I get ~> amarok KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing... sock_file=/home/donn/.kde4/socket-m1l-suse/kdeinit4__0 <unknown program name>(3676)/: Communication problem with "amarok" , it probably crashed. Error message was: "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown" : " "The name org.kde.amarok was not provided by any .service files" " This is with openSuSE's and several git versions of amarok Anyone else seeing this problem and/or solved it? Plus Flightgear and Blender 2.49A fails Blender fails with. ~> blender Compiled with Python version 2.6.5. 11,2 - low sound level or no sound at all

In installed 11.2 on system that was happy with 11.0 day before yesterday. I tried to follow http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Intel-HDA_sound_problems because it seemed there was no sound. In so doing I discovered that there is sound, but the level is much too low. e.g. in VLC with sound level at 100% I can barely tell there is sound. I tried alsamixergui, but it shows master at about 50% and will not allow me to change it, even if run as root. If I login X to root, I get startup and shutdown sounds, and test sound in personal settings works. Also KMix sound control works, giving levels similar to those in 11.0. Regular user login sound is missing. Logout sound works. Test sound in personal settings gives failure to initialize sound driver error popup (default can't be opened for capture, operation not permitted) and perpetually tries to start the sound server. What do I do now? BTW, my hardware is virtually identical to the above URL example. I installed DeVeDe using zypper in US English 11.0 to try to do this. From the KDE3 menu it failed to open. From Konsole I get: $ devede (devede:17659): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library. Using the fallback 'C' locale. DeVeDe 3.12c Locale: en_US.UTF-8 Using package-installed files Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/devede", line 136, in <module> locale.setlocale(locale.LC_ALL,"") File "/usr/lib/python2.5/locale.py", line 478, in setlocale return _setlocale(category, locale) locale.Error: unsupported locale setting webpin tells me exists package devede-lang in bauersman & enzokiel in build service which zypper did not install. Hey Group; Check DVD - openSuSE-DVD-Build0556-Media DVD1 reported OK I downloaded a 11.3 M5 DVD and burned it with K3B. Checked it - OK Rebooted and up it came. Seemed very nice and looked like it worked. It partitioned the drives, loaded the files and then got to "Saving bootloader configuration" - "Install Boot Manager" and hung up. So I went to a Key F1) and saw "(%hash) is depreciated at /usr/share/YaST2/modules/ URLencode.pm" on lines 53 and 67console Key F2) /usr/bin/perl /sbin/update-bootloader --image /bootvimlinuz-2.6.34-rc3-3-default --initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.34-rc3-3-default ---default --add --force 2.6.34-rc3-3-default. as sleeping. What had happen required me to chroot /mnt and create "mknod"s and run the above plus mkinitrd. Again like on M4 there was still the GRUB error during mkinitrd 2010-04-17 09:35:40 Warning:GRUB::GRUBDev2UnixDev:No Partition found for /dev/sda 7 (which is / root), 2 (which is Fedora 12) and 3 (which is an archive drive). "df" showed no "//sda" 1,2,3 or "//sdb"1.2 No such file or directory. Last thing was to reboot on the DVD and use the "Repair" which seems to fail doing a video action. It made it through braille and one piece more and then a big red error message. NVidia GForce 7600 GS AXP2 installed hwinfo --gfxcard finds two modules which lsmod | grep module does not find. So I did a modprobe nouveau and it locked up the system. tried modprobe nvidiafb only to find it was not found by lsmod. Milestone 2 and mp3s

In past versions of openSuSE 11.# I was always able to beat the restricted mp3 problem. As a end user that seems normal. I have always gotten Amarok to work correctly and use it all the time. It would just work after loading building xine-lib/ui. Since Milestone 2 has come out that fails to fix the problem and causes Amarok to just rapid advance through the playlist. It seems as of Milestone 2 openSuSE has made even phonon or gstreamer void of playing mp3s. I built a version 2.2.2 of Amarok and it reports the reason it will not work is due to "phonon was built without MP3 support". If Amarok is not going to work correctly why is in available? Save the space on the DVD/CD. My suggestion is to offer DVD/CD that is for an end user that has end users applications that work.
