Hello again,
i changed the card to an Adaptec Card AHA-2920 (96001-00 A) (the screen at the
boot process tells me: Adaptec PCI) and now i have got two problems:
1. Windows 98 freezes, if the scanner isn't switched on at the boot process. After
Windows completely loaded, i can switch off the scanner (strange, but i can arrange
with that problem)
2. Under SuSE Linux 8.0 Yast2 tells me: there is no SCSI-Scanner and cdrecord --
scanbus shows no scsi-Card (it only shows the scsi - emulation of my dvd and cd-
burner). On the left side Yast2 tells me at last: You have to install the scsi-Scanner
manually.... and that i have to choose the scanner from the list ..... but there is no list
with scanners or scsi-Cards....
This is at last the same message that i got while using the AdvanSys ABP 925.
What have i to do, to install a scsi-card manually? (sorry, if it is maybe a stupid
question, but i didn't find a manual to this problem).
regards,
Chris

I can't get mp3's to play. I can play cd's. I can
rip cd's to mp3, ftp them to my WinXP and play them
but they won't play on Linux.
I recompiled libmad, libid3tag and mplayer. No luck.
I get some noise and the player "clock" advances very
slowly or "skips".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!
When I open some audio applications such as Audacity or env24control, I
got the error "direct access to sound device not possible".
I have SuSE 8.2, and the spund card is a SBLive Platinum with livedrive,
and, of course with Alsa drivers.
With other applications such as Xmms, I have no problem.
Thanks,
Juan
I forgot, if You will only play midi files, the simplest solution, is Timidity, but, it has not the better quality, and uses high amount of cpu, but works with every sound card.

Try with Muse, Rosegarden or Brahms.
You mus have enabled midi in alsa, and use kaconnect to connect the internal midi ports, and if You have SB awe or live, You need to use the sfxload program to upload the soundfonts to the memory, for the wavetable.

The utility (where are the system properties too)

I would like to know how can I set up my display.
The display is Fujitsu-Siemens (C994) 19".
My vga-card is Nvidia TNT2, model 64.
Thanks,
Janek
