Hi friends,
I am having the following problems while playing the DVDs,
I am using suse 10 on my laptop with ATI 340M GPU, with 3d acceleration
enabled by using ATI Drivers,
Now the problem is , the dvd movie is not clear and crisp as it is played in
my windows machine, it is blurry at edges and when there is motion in
picture ther is a sort of blurr,
recently i was playing mp3 songs in my xmms and started A dvd movie.. after
playing the intro ads etc, it came to the menu screen,
and poped a error message saying that the sound device is busy, its being
used by another application,
then i close xmms and tried playing, it gave the same message,
I rebooted the machine, and the same error message is being given from then.
Can anyone suggest me what to do to rectify this?
and also to get clear picture?
regards

Air Conditioners and Computers are similar in some ways. Both are
useless when you open 'Windows'.
Is ther any way other than gatos (gatos.sourceforge.net) to make tv capture work with an ati all in wonder card. Gatos seems great, but it is not so newbie friendly and I think they still don't any driver for SUSE 10.0's version of xorg. I have an ATI All in Wonder 9600, 3D works ok with at drivers (ati-driver-installer-8.18.8-i386), at least with the games suse has, but I haven't found any suitable driver for capturing, I hear it's not so well developed for linux, is that so?
Is there any way to use theater mode tv output?
Thanks in advance, I'll think about a few more foolish questions to ask. The list is wonderful.
Thankyou Clint,
Your suggestion solved the problem...
thank you very much...

Hi,
I spent some time searching the list but i can't find something related.
My problem is with joliet extension.
I use suse 10 (64 bit) and k3b 0.12.8.
I have problem while using joliet extensions and DVD project
When projects starts, shows the warning message that some filenames must be
shorten etc, and althought burn starts ok, after a while it stops before
finishing the burn ( i mean it burns ps only the half data i want) . The
strange thing is that it doesn't show any message. It says burn processe
finished ok (just like nothing happen). But there are only part of data i
wrote.
My guess is that when it comes to the file that must short it's name something
goes wrong there.
This never happend when i try to burn a CD or DVD project without joliet. Only
on DVD projects with joliet.
Actually i was never able to burn DVD with joliet since suse 9.2......

I haven't been able to compile MPlayer-1.0pre7 in Suse 10.0, it says something about gcc version. I tried xine-lib-1.0.3a, too with no succes at all. Do I have to try a different gcc version, a few more programs I can't recall right now won't compile either, (I think I also tried vidix-0.9.9.1 and mplayerxp-0.5.1).
I would appreciate any idea, I'm just another newbie. Thanx in advance.
I saw that VLC : http://www.videolan.org has released 0.8.4 version.
I didn't see any suse package.
How to install VLC 0.8.4 in SUSE 10.0 x86_64 ?
Thanks.
