Not so fast I think. How about: http://www.zorg.org/vsound/ ?
I just tried it on that URL with success.

Re again.
Anyone knows now if SuSE 9.2 solved the issue?

Hi all.
I'm running SuSE 8.1 pro and would like to get a webcam.
Can anyone recommend a webcam that will work under SuSE 8.1
pro, and that will continue to work when I upgrade to 9.2
pro or higher releases?
Logitech may work with SuSE 8.1 and the pcw/pcwx driver.
There seems to be a problem with this driver being a part
of the kernel.
Please see http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/
for the related discussiom.
Will SuSE be producing a custom kernel to continue
supporting the pwcx driver as a binary module?

Thanks for your answer. However, I have the feeling that using Audacity (which
is indeed a good program) will lead to re-encoding of the mp3 file. So that
will give following conversions: mp3 -> wav - editing - wav -> mp3. I fear
that will decrease the overall quality of the songs, that's why I'm looking
for a program to do direct cuts in mp3.

Hey all,
I have put all my CDs in mp3 format on my harddisk. However, for a couple of
songs, there are long (10+minutes) pauses in the song. For some others, there
seems to have been a problem regarding the timestamps on the CD so the songs
are shifted (part in one mp3, other part in another mp3).
Is there an application that can directly edit the mp3 files so I won't have
to recode the songs? With editing, I mean simply cutting the files on between
frames and glueing pieces back together.
Thanks,
Eric

i updated my kernel to 2.6.8-24.3-default with YOU online-update.
now esd starts after booting. i can play music with xmms, watch tv with
kdetv (video4linux) and i have sound events in gnome.
but the quality of the sound is bader than before: i am using now
snd-intel8x0. so will try to reinstall the nvsound-module.
but i think that esd has problems with oss-modules.
does anybody use esc with oss-modules?
regards
philipp
