Centrino + ATI Radeaon 9600

Hallo, für die Entscheidung für ein Notebook habe ich folgende Fragen: 1. Läuft ein Intel Centrino Prozessor unter Linux und nutzt Linux auch seine stromsparenden Eigenschaften? 2. Unterstützt xfree auch die ATI Radeon 9600 (M10)? Zu der steht nichts in der Suse Hardwaredatenbank. Ist wahrscheinlich zu neu. Kann der "radeon" Treiber von Xfree auch die 9600 mit 1400er Auflösung ansteuern? Herzlichen Dank für Eure Antworten. Gruß Claus

Hallo, Leute! Ich müßte auf einem Laptop mit leicht veraltetem Linux den Konqueror dazu bringen, daß er in der Vorschau den Inhalt auch von Bild-Dateien anzeigt, die bis zu 2 MB groß sind. In neueren Versionen ist das ja in den Einstellungen des Konqueror möglich, aber bei dieser Version kann ich nichts finden. Frage: Kann man da irgendwo in einer Datei manuell ein höheres Limit für die Dateigröße eintragen, bis zu dem eine Voranschau erfolgt? Das ist relativ dringend, deswegen bitte ich um eure Unterstützung. mfg Ing. Rainer Hantsch

Solution: wlan Invalid Misc

So, ich habe rausbekommen woran es lag, und da es vielleicht auch andere interessiert, fasse ich mal zusammen: YaST2 hat die Karte als wlan0 konfiguriert und die Konfiguration in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-wlan-pcmcia abgelegt. Beim nächsten Boot oder Karte rein/raus will der cardmgr aber eth1 starten, was nicht klappt, weil es dafür keine Konfiguration gibt. Deswegen startet ihn der hotplug-Dämon als wlan0. Auszug aus /var/log/messages: (Ohne Timestamp und hostname): cardmgr[1146]: executing: 'modprobe -v airo_cs' kernel: airo: MAC enabled eth1 0:a:41:7d:23:c7 cardmgr[1146]: executing: './network start eth1' etc/hotplug/net.agent[6736]: Interface eth1 is handled by service PCMC IA ... exiting ifup: No configuration found for eth-pcmcia-0 eth1 /etc/hotplug/net.agent[6732]: Using HW description wlan-pcmcia (default from /etc/sysconfig/hotplug) iwconfig (und /proc/net/wireless) sehen aber BEIDES, eth1 UND wlan0. ifconfig oder ifstatus sehen aber nur wlan0, und damit geht es einfach nicht. Die Invalid Misc müssen IP-Fehler von einer höheren Ebene sein, denn mit tcpdump sieht man auf dem Interface ABSOLUT NICHTS. Wenigstens arp requests müsste man sehen beim ping auf den Access Point, selbst wenn der nicht antwortet. Die Lösung: Ich habe in /etc/sysconfig/network ifcfg-wlan-pcmcia umbenannt in ifcfg-eth-pcmcia-0. Acer Travelmat am Beamer

Hallo, ich habe folgendes Problem: Mein Acer Travelmate 220 hat einen Intel 830M Graphics Controller. Im Bios sind sowohl der LCD als auch der externe VGA- Ausgang eingeschaltet. Wenn ich mein Suse 9.0 starte, erscheint sowohl auf dem LCD als auch auf einem angeschlossenen Monitor die Meldungen und im Anschluss daran das graphische Login. Unter Sax2 habe ich LCD mit 1024*768*24 eingestellt. Wenn ich nun den firmeneigenen Beamer anschließe geschieht folgendes: - Der Rechner startet und der Beamer zeigt den Vorgang sauber an. - Ich starte das Linux-System mittels GRUB (Anzeige perfekt) - Die Kernelmeldungen laufen auf, bis der Loginprompt erscheint. (Anzeige ist immer noch bestens). Nun kommt der graphische Login und auf dem LCD ist die Welt in Ordnung. Der Beamer hingegen verliert das Signal!? Interessanterweise klappt es gelegent- lich auch mal mit der Beamer-Anzeige, das Bild fängt dann aber nach wenigen Sekunden (zwischen 5 und 20) an zu flackern, bis das Signal zusammenbricht. Hat einer von euch Erfahrungen mit dem Betrieb eines Beamers am Travelmate? Ähnliche Phänomene? Lösungsideen? Gruß, Michael Höhne p.s. Unter Windows gibt es dieses Problem nicht. Sogar die Einstellungen "Bildschirm klonen" bzw. Desktop auf 2. Bildschirm erweitern" lassen sich problemlos umschalten. p.p.s. Wenn ich den Hardwareeinsteller von Yast aufrufe, scheint dieser die Graphikkarte 2 mal anzuzeigen, als ob er beide Ausgänge einzeln sehen würde. Wenn ich auf den Mutihead-Einsteller gehe, bekomme ich die Meldung, meine Graphikkarte wäre nicht Multihead-fähig. Netwerkkarte ACCTON EN-1216 auf Suse 9.0

Hallo zusammen, ich versuche gerade meine Netzwerkkarte ACCTON EN-1216 (in meinem Gericon Supersonic M6-T) zum laufen zu überreden. Die Karte wurde bei der Installation auch richtig erkannt und die richtigen Einstellungen habe ich auch vorgenommen. Aber starten will das Teil einfach nicht. Ich bekomme immer folgende Fehlermeldung: eth0 SIOPCSIFFLAGS: Device or resource busy ifup: cannot enable eth0 interface ifup-route: interface eth0 is not up Also habe ich mal was anderes versucht. Wie bei einem Tip, den ich gefunden habe: Erst Windows gestartet(andere Partition). Dann bei Windows auf Rechner neu Starten gegangen und direkt Linux gebootet. Und siehe da: Bei hochfahren wird eth0 gestartet. Dann aber die Enttäuschung. Als KDE gestartet war, war die komplette Grafik kaputt. Irgendwie war da alles wie Kraut und Rüben. Es war fast nicht zu erkennen. Ich habe es trotzdem geschafft eine Konsole zu öffnen und einen Ping ab zu senden. Das hat dann auch geklappt. Also die Netzwerkkarte lief. Leider nur die Grafik nicht... Kann mir da irgendjemand einen Tipp geben, wie ich das eine Problem(Netzwerkkarte start nicht) oder das andere(defekte Grafik nach starten von Windows) in den Griff bekomme? Hello ! Thanks your help but it seems I forgot say a few word about the default problem. The laptop can't use any device wich I connected to the serial port. I would like use an standard external modem but it can't work (the modem didn't answer). Next I want set the GPRS connection but it didn't work neither. I knew the devices working correctly because I probed them with a PC. So I think maybe the serial port undown. I connected the laptop to the PC with an simple nullmodem cable and try send some string. I saw the communication wery slowly. Moin! Im November gab es hier mal eine sehr interessante Diskussion zum leidigen Thema hoher Auflösungen mit dem i810-Treiber. Mir ist allerdings einiges noch nicht ganz klar: 1) Läuft Redhat 9.02b tatsächlich mit 1400x1050, wie auch der Acer Support hartnäckig behauptet, oder ist das nur ein Gerücht? Falls es läuft- was kann es was wir nicht können? ;) 2) Wer ist jetzt eigentlich schuld, die Laptophersteller, weil sie nicht das neueste Video-Bios von Intel an uns weiterleiten, oder Intel, weil sie kein Video-Bios mit diesem Modus liefern? Mein Video-Bios hat die Version 2973, mittlerweile gibt es 3197. Ich weiss aber nicht ob dieses Bios die Auflösung unterstützt. 3) Entgegen der Anleitungen vom November gelingt es mir nicht, das Rendern von meiner Auflösung (1280x1024) auf 1400x1050 zu verhindern. Ich kann die Einstellungen unter Windows zwar so ändern, das dort die "Trauerränder" entstehen, aber die Einstellungen überleben einen Boot nicht. Weiss jemand einen Weg, den Systemaufruf unter Windows in Linux zu simulieren, um umzuschalten? Bei einigen Laptops scheint das auch mit einer Tastenkombination zu gehen. 4) Bei den Windowstreibern von Intel ist auch immer ein Video-Bios dabei. Ausserdem ein DOS-Programm, welches das Video-Bios im ROM durch ein neueres im RAM überschreibt. Wenn das Problem wirklich das Bios ist, und mit einem neueren Videobios gelöst wäre, dann könnte man vielleicht versuchen dieses Programm in Linux beim Booten zum Laufen zu bringen (mtg_3197.exe), und bräuchte nicht mehr bei Acer & co zu quengeln. Sony Vaio & Winmodem / Smartlink USB-Modem

Guten Morgen liebe Liste :) Ich bin erst seit gestern auf der Liste und hoffe, das ich nicht geschlagen werden, falls diese Frage "dumm" anmuten sollte - aber ich weiss nicht mehr ein noch aus :( Ich habe ein Sony Vaio FR315B Laptop und mich bereits daran gewöhnt, das das Wimodem irgendwie von keinem Linux (Redhat wie Mandrake als auch Suse) erkannt wird. Es gab zwar einige Epmfehlungen im Netz (Per yast smartlink-softmodem installieren; konifgurieren etc.) aber die führten bei mir nur zu einem Totalcrash von Suse. Oooops. Aus diesem Grund habe ich mir vor einiger Zeit das freeway USB Modem geholt, welches von Suse als SGS Thompson erkannt wird. Bei den Treiber gab es schon mal Probleme: 2.7.4 wollte nicht, also habe ich den aktuellen Treiber 2.9.6 von smlink.com runtergeladen und installiert. So weit - so gut. Starte ich nun das softmodem /usb/sbin/slmodem --country=DE /dev/slusb0 ist alles gut und schön und ich kann mich auch prima per kinternet einwählen - nur nach 1-10 Minuten bricht die Verbindung ab. Sie wird nicht getrennt sondern bleibt wunderbar bestehen aber die Geschwindigkeit liegt so zwischen 0,00 - 0,10 KB.
