Hello, this month's TuxMobil News digest[1] has again good news for Linux PDA and laptop users. Also there are news about Linux equipped SmartPhones. CD-Brenner - Frage...

Hallo! Der Computer meines Sohnes hat, wie ich soeben festgestellt habe, den CD-Writer ohne DMA laufen. Das wirkt sich natürlich verheerend beim Brennen von CD's aus. Vorher fiel das nicht so auf, weil er nur ein CD-ROM hatte, da ging's ja nur in die andere Richtung. Nun ist es so, daß - wegen des CD-Brenners - die SCSI-Emulation für /dev/hdc aktiviert ist und auch beim Booten schon an den Kernel übergeben wird. Dadurch kann mit YAST2 der DMA für den CD-Brenner nicht auf EIN gezwungen werden. Wie macht man das? Ich stelle die Frage deswegen hier, weil speziell dieses Problem speziell bei Notebooks häufig zu lesen ist, da auch diese oft "seltsame" Chipsets haben. Ich habe aber noch keine Lösung dazu gefunden. Es handelt sich um ein ziemlich neues VIA Chipst (VT8367/VT8233A) auf einem ASUS A7V333 Mainboard. -- SuSE Linux 8.0 (Kernel 2.4.18-4GB) Ich bitte um Unterstützung. ___ Noch eine Kleinigkeit: Sohn verwendet "kreatecd". funktioniert dank des schnellen Prozessors auch so, aber: Warum schaltet es nicht das BurnProof des Brenners ein? Kann man da irgendwo manuell nachhelfen? Ich finde nichts in seinem Setup! mfg Ing. Rainer Hantsch
