"linux# cat /proc/acpi/processor/CPU0/performance" gibt auch "" aus, gleiches für "throttling" und "limit". "linux# cat /proc/sys/cpu/0/speed" gibt immer "0" aus, analog dazu "speed-min" und "speed-max". "linux# cat /proc/cpufreq" gibt nur " minimum CPU frequency - maximum CPU frequency - policy" und nichts weiter aus. Während unter Windows XP der entsprechende AMDpowernow! Treiber automatisch im Leerlauf heruntertaktet, passiert unter Linux nichts dergleichen. Im Windows Gerätemanager fand ich unter "Systemgeräte" neben allen möglichen ACPI Komponenten (Deckel,...), etc. auch den Eintrag "ALi 7101 Energieverwaltungscontroller". Ich weiß zwar nicht, wozu der gut ist, er könnte aber mit meinem Problem etwas zu tun haben. Irgendwo habe ich gelesen, dass durch den powernow Treiber /proc/powernow erzeugt wird um dort die CPU- Taktfrequenz einzustellen, aber bei mir gibt es diese Datei nicht (wundert mich nicht, denn der powernow-k7 Treiber basiert auf cpufreq, und das funktioniert ja auch nicht). Problem: Obwohl eigentlich das Heruntertakten der CPU funktionieren müsste, tut es das nicht (aus welchen Gründen auch immer). Auch nach längerem Suchen im Internet an allen möglichen Stellen habe ich keine Lösung für das Problem gefunden (vielleicht bin ich der erste?). Wenn jemand eine Lösung weiß, bitte melden! Ich wäre aüßerst dankbar! D600 und internes Modem

Hallo Liste, hat schon irgendwer geschafft, das interne Modem vom D600 anzuwerfen? Unter Suse-9 habe ich das "smartlink-softmodem"-Paket installiert, danach das config-script laufen lassen und dann hat auch noch das "wvdialconf" geklappt und das Modem erkannt. Nur wenn ich jetzt das wvdial(.tcl) aufrufe, hängt es bei "waiting for Carrier" und das war's dann... :( (Mit 'ner PCMCIA-Modemkarte habe ich keine Probleme.) Was kann ich besser machen? Hallo Liste .... ich schlage mich jetzt schon einige Zeit mit meinem gebraucht erworbenen Laptop IBM Thinkpad 600E herum und versuche endlich mal einen Ton rauszubekommen.... Ich gemäß Suse Support DB eigentlich alles eingetragen:Sound chipset: Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic CS 4610 (rev 01) Works with the kernel driver for cs4232 in the emulation mode. No special settings are necessary to achieve the emulation mode. One needs the following lines in /etc/conf.modules alias char-major-14 cs4232 options cs4232 io=0x530 irq=5 dma=1 dma2=0 to get wav and mp3 file playing working. The driver will not survive an APM suspend / resume, reload it after an suspend / resume. Quality of sound is even better than on my desktop PC. Linux-Laptop mit USB-Stick und PCMCIA-HDD

Hallo. Ich versuche zur Zeit Suse 8.1 bzw. 9.0 (im Moment egal welches!) auf meinem Laptop zum laufen zu bringen. Es handelt sich um einen Compaq Evo N610c. Die Schwierigkeit an der Sache ist, dass ich das System von einem USB-Stick aus booten muss und das System auf einer PCMCIA-HDD liegt. Die Installation selbst läuft ohne Probleme durch, wenn ich /boot auf den USB-Stick lege (ansonsten gibt's eine Fehlermeldung bei der Installation des GRUB). Aber beim Booten des Systems meldet der GRUB einen Fehler und stoppt das System. Hat jemand so eine Konfiguration schon am laufen? Wie bekomme ich das hin? Gruß / Kind regards Markus

Hallo, ich habe in meinem Laptop eine Sound Fusion CS46xx. Yast2/ Alsa hat die Karte auch erkannt und der Computer gibt auch Töne von sich. Signaltöne genauso gut, wie mp3, *.wav aber auch der CD-Player funktioniert. Töne entlocke ich auch den externen Eingängen der Karte, sei es das Mikrophon oder Lini in, die Lautsprecher des Laptops geben die externe (Linie-In) wieder. In der Lautstärke läßt sich Linie-IN auch steuern. Möchte ich aber mit Krecord, Krec oder mit qarecord Lini-In aufnehmen so geleingt dies nicht. Kein Ton in der Wav-Datei. Die Ausgabe von amixer liest sich auch normal. cpufreq und anderes

Hallo Liste, ich habe auf meinem neuen Toshiba Satellite P10-554 die Suse 9.0 prof. Distribution installiert. Da der Ventilator ständig läuft wollte ich den cpufreqd starten, dies wird auch beim hochfahren von linux versucht dann aber geskipped. wenn ich cpufreqd von hand starte bekomme ich folgende Meldung: ------------------------------------ Error: Could not open file for writing: /proc/cpufreq Error: No such file or directory ------------------------------------- Das Verzeichnis existiert nicht. Es scheint ja auch irgenwdie ein besonderes Verzeichnis zu sein. Also, was könnte hier wohl schieflaufen? Und noch etwas ist mir aufgefallen: Nachdem das System hochgelaufen ist wird mir von gkrellm für CPU0 eine ständige Last von ca. 80% angezeigt. top kann mir aber keine auskunft geben was denn da so viel rechenzeit in anspruch nimmt. Da läuft nur irgendwas mit max 3% und 2% und dann auch nur max. 3 aktive prozesse. Was hält den prozessor denn so bei laune? Wenn ich jetzt aber kurz auf den power knopf tippe verschwinden die 80% sofort auf 0% und der lüfter springt nur noch alle 2 minuten für ein paar sekunden an. top zeigt auch nichts anderes an. Hat jemand eine Idee? Gruß Jann

Verehrte Liste, erstmal sorry, ich war der festen Überzeugung, daß ich 8.2 installiert hätte, ist aber 8.1 (!). Ich hab inzwischen rausgefunden, daß ein externer Monitor gleiche Schwierigkeiten macht. Von der nvidia homepage hab ich mir dann (brav nach Anleitung) die beiden SuSE-pakete (rpms) des neuesten Treibers (Juli 2003) gezogen: NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4496.suse81.i586.rpm NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4496.suse81.i586.rpm und (erfolgreich) installiert. Mit SAX2 aktivieren (vorher wurde der alte Treibeer nv benutzt) war allerdings nicht so prall. Folgender Ausschnitt aus dem logfile: (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have useable configuration Auch geringere Auflösung / Farbtiefe hilft mal wieder nicht. Wieso funktioniert sowas bei mir nie!? :[ Hab dann noch von Hand rumgefrökelt und versucht, die alte XF86config mit der nicht funktionierenden neuen in allen Variationen zu mischen (speziell alte screen-section, neue driver-section), aber ohne Erfolg. Und bevor ich als Halbwissender mir alles abschieße, dacht ich, frag ich Euch doch nochmal! What can I do as a single person? Volker Siepmann
