Notebook mag keinen DNS / ping

Hallo Ihr alle, ich habe auf meinem Rechner einen DHCP Server laufen, der auch einwandfrei funktioniert. Leider findet mein Notebook keinen DNS (obwohl auch dieser einwandfrei läuft) und kommt somit nicht ins Internet ... leider funktioniert aber auch kein ping außerhalb meines definierten Subnets, ich danke daher, dass ich ein Routingproblem habe. Vielleicht kann mir jemand sagen, wie ich das am besten anstelle und was ich sonst noch einstellen könnte, sprich: was ist empfahlenwert und wie mache ich das am besten. Für seine Hilfe danke ich jedem. Sorry, dass ich so eine DAU - Frage stelle, aber ich habe jetzt erst Linux auf mein Notebook aufgespielt (ging leider vorher nicht, weil bestimmte Software gebraucht wurde), werde es aber auch nie mehr löschen :-) (naja vorausgesetzt ich komme dann mal ins Internet *grins*) Ciao Jerome

Moin, aus lauter Verzweiflung frage ich mal hier: Ich will ein Notebook kaufen, weiß aber nicht, wo. Es handelt sich um das Fujitsu Lifebook P2110, das in Europa nicht gehandelt wird. Ich habe noch keine Quelle gefunden, bei der ich das Notebook bekommen kann. Kennt jemand einen zuverlässigen Importeur oder einen zuverlässigen Händler in den USA, der nach Deutschland liefert? [iSDN] Sedlbauer Speed Star PCMCiA Krampf

So, das geht jetzt nicht gegen irgendwen persoenlich oder so, aber ich habe einen Hals wie ein Pelikan. Nicht nur, dass ich meinen Rechner wegen HD-Crash neu installieren durfte und mich nun damit herum aergern muss, dass er / beim HALTen nicht umounten kann, weil.... PCMCIA: cardmanager is down ds: Device or resource busy i82365: Device or resource busy pcmcia_core: Device or resource busy ... und er deshalb auch kein rcpcmcia stop oder restart duldet; ich kotze genau wie damals ueber meine Sedlbauer Speedstar Karte, die nicht so will wie ich. Die U(h)rzeiten der untenstehenden Logs sprechen Baende dafuer, wieviel Zeit ich hier verbrate. Ich bin kurz davor, diesen PCMCiA Mist in die Tonne zu feuern und meine gute alte Teles wieder auszubuddeln. Hrmpf... Ich habe KEINEN Bock mehr, mich in ETLICHE, nichtssagende DOCs einzulesen, um immer mehr Zeit zu verschwenden, aber keinen Meter weiter zu kommen und dann wie in Hitchhiker's Guide eine Antwort wie "42" zu erhalten. :-/ I4L ist sonst kein Problem, meine AVM Fritz laeuft super, einzig diese verheerende Kombi von PCMCIA, Toshiba und Sedlbauer bringt mich noch zum Wahnsinn. Ich habe auch keinen Bock, mir extra deswegen eine neuere SUSE als meine 7.0 Professional zuzulegen. Die Sedlbauer Anleitungen gehen von 8.0 aus. :-( Ich tue wirklich alles Menschenmoegliche, aber nun ist der Kanal voll. Ich brauche keine dummen Belehrungen wie RTFM, weil ich just das schon getan habe, aber es nicht laeuft. Vielen Dank an Karsten Keil, Du hast mich enorm weiter gebracht, allerdings ist der Punkt, wo ich war, verloren, weil die HD weg ist. Ich hoffe, dass ich im Folgenden anhand der ausfuehrlichen Logs deutlich machen kann, dass hier irgendwo der Vogel begraben ist. Auch so eine (Wirklich! Voll daneben!) Oder was sagen die Ziffern 0,1,1,2,2 bei dialing? Sind das nicht die Anwahlversuche? Und wo sehe ich, aus welchem Grund (z.B. busy, no carrier etc) aufgelegt worden ist? So jedenfalls kann ich viel raten. Wo kann ich nachlesen was cause E0010 bedeutet? Gibt es eine Moeglichkeit, die Anwahl, also alles das, was vom Modem kommt und dort hin geht, zu beoachten (verbose output) ? isdnctrl verbose nimmt offenbar allerlei Werte an, das man ist grottenschlecht, weil es nur sagt "sets verbosity level to num", nun steht da aber nicht, welche Zahlenbereiche erlaubt sind und welche was genau ausloesen. Sehr schlechtes man isdnctrl. Und bloss keine Beispiel in die man pages schreiben, es koennte ja etwas verstaendlicher werden.... kotz! Verbose-level set to 9000. Hallo, da ich es nicht schaffe, mit Suse 7.3 die PCMCIA-Ethernet-Karte zum Laufen zu bringen, habe ich mir ein Pockey Portable USB Hard Drive gekauft --- jetzt finde ich aber weder bei Suse noch sonstwo im Internet irgendwelche Informationen, wie ich dieses Ding ansteuern kann?? Das Geraet wird anscheinend korrekt erkannt (jedenfalls erscheint die Seriennummer im KDE-Kontrollzentrum unter Informationen zu USB-Geraeten), aber sonst kann ich nicht den geringsten Hinweis finden, wie ich das Ding benutzen koennte?? Waere fuer jeden Hinweis dankbar! HP Omnibook 4150 + Suse 8.0 : X-Konfigurationsproblem

Hi, ich bin dabei, Suse 8.0 Professional auf einem HP-Omnibook 4150 zu installieren. Leider klappt die X-Konfiguration nicht. Das Installationsprogramm bzw. später sax2 erkennt korrekt den eingebaute ATI Rage Mobility Chip, aber beim Testen / Starten von X ist der Bildschirm 'verschoben' - der obere Teil ist abgeschnitten und taucht unten wieder auf. Die Maus ist korrekt positioniert, so dass ein Unterschied zwischen angezeigtem Mauszeiger und der Wirkung besteht. Der Bildschirm lässt sich auch nicht mit dem Configtool von Sax2 verschieben oder ändern. Mein XF86Config-File hab ich unten angehängt. Für Hinweise jeglicher Art bin ich äusserst dankbar. PCMCIA und USB scheinen inkompatibel (IRQ 10)

Hallo, ich verwende Suse 7.3 auf meinem Laptop (Ultinet 3100 C, jetzt 2 Jahre alt). Ich will auf Suse 8.0 aufruesten, davor muessen aber Daten gesichert werden, und ferner muss eine Datenbank (ca. 6 GB) vom Laptop auf den Hauptrechner transferiert werden. Bislang war das Laptop off-line, und Datentransfer lief ueber ein Zip-Laufwerk (USB). Wegen der groesseren Datenmengen nun ist das Zip-Laufwerk (100 MB) nicht mehr praktikabel, und deshalb habe ich nun versucht, eine Ethernet-Verbindung mittels einer PCMCIA-Karte herzustellen. Die vorherige Version von Suse auf dem Laptop war 6.4, und ich hatte keine Probleme mit der Ethernet-PCMCIA-Karte (ich hatte damals aber kein USB benutzt). Nun jedoch (mit 7.3) laeft gar nichts: Die PCMCIA-Karte wird richtig erkannt, aber keinerlei Daten werden gesendet. Das Problem scheint mir in einem Konflikt zwischen USB (das nun wohl in den Kernel integriert ist) und der PCMCIA-Karte zu liegen: Beide benutzen IRQ 10, und es scheint dabei USB zu gewinnen (ob ich es nun benutze oder nicht). Da ich nur *einmalig* meine Daten transferieren moechte (mittels Ethernet), und dann Suse 8.0 neu installiere, ist es mir egal, was mit USB geschieht, und so scheint mir die einfachste Loesung zu sein, USB los zu werden --- dies scheint aber kaum moeglich zu sein! Was tun?! Mit USB habe ich START_USB="no" # Oliver Kullmann, 13.6.2002, ca. 23:30 in /etc/rc.config gesetzt, und ferner habe ich in /etc/modules.conf diejenigen Aliasse, die (anscheinend) was mit usb zu tun haben, herauskommentiert. Und in Yast2 habe ich hotplogging devices abgeschaltet --- alles keine Auswirkungen: Zwar funkioniert USB nun nicht mehr, aber beim Hochfahren des Systems wird es immer noch aktiviert, und PCMCIA verwendet weiterhin IRQ 10 (wie USB). IM BIOS des Laptops scheint es keine Moeglichkeiten zu geben, was mit den IRQ's zu machen (nur fuer die seriellen (COM) und parallelen (LPT) Ports, dies scheint mir aber nicht relevant zu sein). Ich waere wirklich sehr dankbar fuer jedwede Hilfestellung: Die Blockade meines Laptops ist nun mittlerweile eine kleine Katastrophe, und ich bin mit meinem Latein am Ende.
