Hallo Liste, ich habe große Problem X auf meinem i8100 Notebook zum Laufen zu bringen. (und Probleme mit PCMCIA) Ich habe mir einen neuen Kernel 2.4.16 mit den Quellen von kernel.org gebaut, um die Probleme mit power managment und Kernel 2.4.10-4GB zu lösen. Dann habe ich über YOU die Nvidia-Treiber installiert. Doch X konnte ich nicht konfigurieren. Zuerst ist mir das System eingefroren. Als ich direkt von Nvidia die Treiber für SuSE 7.3 gezogen habe, mir rpm -Uvh installiert und SaX mit sax2 -m -0nvidia gestartet habe, bricht Sax mit folgender Meldung ab: xc: sorry could not start configuration server xc: this could have the following reasons: - the card is still not supported. To get further information about the driver status please have a look at: http://www.xfree86.org/4.0.2/Status.html - the card was not detected correctly. In this case please get the information which XFree86 module provide support for the card and set the module using the following command: sax2 -m 0=<name of the module> Note: 0 is a digit not a letter Note: Information about modules are provided on the mentioned WWW-Page - the card was detected but the server fails to start in spite of the detection. In this case something more serious had happened. Please have a look at the log file: /var/log/SaX.log xc: if you can not determine the cause please get in contact with: <support(a)suse.de> Please include the log file and a detailed description into your e-mail xc: abort... Die SaX.log sieht habe ich aufgrund ihrer Größe angehängt. Ach ja, mit Framebuffer in 1024x768 funktioniert X, aber halt nur in 1024x768, und das kann ja wohl nicht Sinn der Sache sein, oder? Liebe Listler Auf meinem Laptop ist ein CS 4281 (Crystal) Chipset daheim der den Sound produziert. Dass tut er auch schön bis auf die Sounds beim Starten von KDE (oder sonstigen KDE-Systemsounds). Bei einer solchen Wiedergabe knackt und fiept es so stark in den kleinen Lautsprechern dass es nicht mehr schön ist. Probiert habe ich bereits einiges: - löschen der Soundkarte aus YAST2 und neukonfigurieren mit YAST2 - manuelles neu konfigurieren mit alsaconf - andere Parameter beim konfigurieren leider ohne Erfolg ==> "idee" ich kompiliere mir den neuen 0.5.12a (aktuell auf dem System 0.5.11) und sehe ob das besser kommt. source runter geladen, kernelquellen nachinstalliert, source dekomprimiert und configure gestartet ==> error Da ich noch wenig Erfahrung mit kompilieren habe sagt mir der Fehler leider nicht welche source noch fehlt. X-Start bricht ab

Hallo an alle, bitte freundlichst um eure Hilfe. Mein XFree86-System Version 4.1.0 startet nicht durch sondern bricht ab. Es erscheint nur der NVidia Splash, X-Server- Muster und dann ein knallroter Bildschirm mit Maus-Zeiger -> Abbruch. Mein System ist ein Notbook Dell Inspiron 8000 mit einem NVidia GForce2 Go Grafikchip der mit 32 MB bestückt ist. Es ist Suse 7.3 mit den passenden NVidia RPM´s Version 2313 installiert. Die NVidia-Treiber sollen zum arbeiten gebracht werden und nicht das Framebufferdevice !!! NVidia-Kernel-Kompilierungen schließe ich aus da passende RPM-Packete von NVidia zur Verfuegung stehen. sax2 ver. 4.3 war von Anfang an nicht in der Lage die Sache zu backen. Die "XF86Config" habe ich angepaßt damit sich das System weningstens nicht aufhaengt, was nach, oder mit, sax2 immer der Fall ist. Die zugehoerigen Dateien >> XF86Config << und >> XFree86-0-log << habe ich zur Fehler-Info angehaengt. Bei meinem HP Omnibook 4150 kann ich das Soundproblem nicht lösen. Problem: Bei der Installation de Soundkarte wird die MagicMedia 256AV Audio Device on Voyager II erkannt. Aber Meldung: Fehler während der Installation. Kernelmodul wurde nicht geladen. Wenn ich alle Soundeinträge aus der modules.conf entferne und sb aktiviere, kann ich CDs mit KSCD abspielen, aber alle andere Dateitypen funktionieren nicht. Ich habe keine Idee, wie ich weitersuchen soll. Liebe Leute, zu der eben beschriebenen Sache noch ein kurzer Nachtrag: nach rcpcmcia stop kernel und rcpcmcia start kernel steht in /var/log/messages die cardmgr-Meldung: could not adjust resource: ... und dann kommen die port und Speicherstellen die vo Kernel als clean bezeichnet weden. Freigabe eines Brenners übers Netz

Hallo Liste, falls ich die Freigaberechte richtig verstanden habe, reicht es im Prinzip aus, den Brenner im Netzwerk freizugeben, um dann z.B. mit cdroast zu greifen zu können. Oder muß ich mit rlogin mich erst anmelden und dann über VNC Kontrolle erlangen? Ich weiß, daß durch die Freigabe ein Loch in das Sicherheitsgebilde von Rechner kommt, aber ich sehe darin kein Problem, da das Ding eine Insellösung ist. Gruß and happy new year Boris

Die Listings sind alle abgeschrieben, weil ja die Netzverbindung zum Internetrechner nicht funktioniert :-( Im Kernel ist PCMCIA fest gebunden. /etc/rc.config.d/psmcia.rc.config: PCMCIA=yes PCMCIA_SYSTEM="kernel" PCMCIA_PCIC="yenta_socket" PCMCIA_PCIC_OPTS="irq-list=9 pci_int=0" Aus den Angaben von lspci -v und dem Gerätemanager unter Windows2000 folgt meiner Meinung nach folgende /etc/pcmcia/config.opts: include memory 0xc0000-0xfffff include port 0x0cf8-0x0cff, port 0x1400-0x1fff include port0x2800-0x2fff, port 0x3000-0x30ff include memory 0xf4100000-0xf41fffff include memory 0xf4400000-0xf44fffff (wichtig, siehe unten!!!!!!!!!!) include memory 0x8000000-0x8042fff (speziel das ist aus dem Windows-Manager) und dann Ausschluss der IRQs 1,2,11,12,14,15 --------------------------ende etc/pcmcia/config.opts--------------------- beim Hochfahren ohne Netzkarte stehen in /var/log/messages die Kernel-Meldungen: Yenta-IRQ-List 0098, PCI irq0 Socket status: 30000006 sc: IO port probe (Uwe: ... und es werden die ports von oben als clean bezeichnet. beim Einsetzen der Netgear FA510 (Netzkarte) geht nun aus /var/log/messages das Folgende hervor: 1. Der Tulip-Treiber kann nicht geladen werden 2. der Kenel meldet: Failed to allocate resouce 1(f400000-f41fffff) failed to allocate recource 6(f400000-f41fffff) (das ist doch eine feigegebene Adresse aus /etc/pcmcia/config.opts) Enabling device 02:00.0 (0000 -> 0003) (Uwe: das ist der port in dem die Netgear-Karte steckt) 3. No IRQ known for interrupt pin A of device 02:00.0 (Uwe: ?????????) 4. please try using pci=biosirq (Uwe: ja wo denn?) 5. Unable to reservemem region '2:ff300000@4400000 for device 02:00.0 (Uwe: was ist das für eine Adressbezeichnung?) Trying to free nonexistent resource <f4400000-f41fffff> (Uwe: wieder die alte Adresse) Das Ende: Das Tulip-Modul kann nicht geladen werden. Kann jemand helfen? Viele Grüße Uwe
