Hello All, I'm running a private instance and I'd like to enable networking on my workers so they can build some java apps, via maven, which need to download pom's/war's from the net. [opensuse-buildservice] Ghost package

Hi. There is a ghost package in my OBS home project. I'm using the web interface, not the command line one. If you go to https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:jcsl:LXDE you can see the real 10 packages in the Packages box on left side, but if you look in the Build Results box, on the right side, you see 11 next to the "succeeded" text. If you then click the succeeded link you find the pcmanfm-1.2.0-beta1 package, and if you click on its link you get a Package "pcmanfm-1.2.0-beta1" not found in project "home:jcsl:LXDE", as expected. It even appears in the scheduled and building states when something I'm building triggers its build (I don't know how can this be). Any hints? [opensuse-buildservice] local check for if the "Requires" statements are correct?

Hello, when I am doing an osc build locally all packages that are specified in the "BuildRequires" tags are installed in a isolated environment. Is the same possible for packages (including their versions) needed at runtime, i.e. specified by the "Requires" tags? My goal is to run some unit tests of packaged software to ensure the Requires dependencies are specified correctly without having to test it on a separate test machine. Good news everyone .... more work for OBS and all of us :) SLE 12 got imported. Right now only the x86_64 architecture is usable. ppc64le will come when we have the hardware in place. SLE 12 got added to the simple default target list in webui or when you want to add it manually use SUSE:SLE-12:GA / standard repository. hello, TL;DR: i'd like all obs-service-* tools to have a Makefile, and i'd prefer if we could colocate all of them in a single git repository. i want to package obs-service-* for ArchLinux. most of these tools have no Makefile, and the build/install procedures are spelled out in their specfiles in b.o.o. i set out to move the build scripts into Makefiles since a) i don't fancy reproducing them in the prospective PKGBUILD files and b) it would do zilch for the future Debian packager. the various obs-service-* have quite simple and similar needs. if i went with a simple Makefile per service we'd end up with the common bits interspersed with the tool-specific ones, which i sense as fertile ground for divergence. instead, i went for a common obs-service.mk file which is identical among the different tools, and a GNUmakefile file to provide that with tool-specific bits. this arrangement makes it a bit easier to keep the common bits identical in the various tools, even though it obviously does nothing to remove the duplication itself; i'm not sure what/if i can do with that. simple: https://github.com/roman-neuhauser/obs-service-python_sdist/compare/wip-mak… local extras: https://github.com/roman-neuhauser/obs-service-download_files/compare/wip-m… https://github.com/roman-neuhauser/obs-service-format_spec_file/compare/wip… https://github.com/roman-neuhauser/obs-service-source_validator/compare/wip… obs-service-download_files inspired the $(cachedirs)/install-cache code which, on a closer look, should be local to that tool, AFAICT there's no other consumer of that feature. --- while the above solves the issues of packaging the various services for different packaging formats and removes *some* of the pain of keeping the machinery in sync, it does not solve the latter completely. even with the syncing procedure as simple as copying a file around, i fully expect the various copies of obs-service.mk to diverge over time. my suggestion here would be to mvoe all the obs-service-* tools into a single repository to bring the number of obs-service.mk copies down to one. is there another way? -- roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-buildservice+owner(a)opensuse.org

[opensuse-buildservice] Fwd: MonoDevelop crashes because of a library version mismatch

Hi folks, I have already posted this matter in the gtk-sharp mailing list, but the guys there suspect my issue to be related to the MonoDevelop RPM I am using: I am using gtk-sharp2 incl. glib-sharp2-2.12.10-85.13.x86_64 for my Mono project and for MonoDevelop (5.0.1-110.14) itself. The issue is that after the recent update, MD crashes a few seconds after opening whatever project. I get the following error message: monodevelop: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/libglibsharpglue-2.so: undefined symbol: g_type_check_instance_is_fundamentally_a The version of glib-sharp2 is the most recent I can get for my openSuSE 12.3 machine. For MD and the Mono files incl. gtk-sharp2 I am using Mono/Factory as a repo. One of the gtk-sharp guys told me the instance checking routine in libglibsharpglue had been added in May 2014: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits-list/2014-May/msg08836.html What shall I do? Hello, to whom it may concern: the search page on build.o.o is currently broken (returning 500, internal server error) and has done so quite frequently last week. Also I recall that the search seems to not support string with hyphens, like "perl-macros" or anything like that. It used to not return any results for such a search. [opensuse-buildservice] resolving pkgconfig dependency fails

After adding a patch to handle Provides/Requires: pkgconfig to the SLE_11 rpm package in the packman buildservice many packages entered the unresolvable state. Its not obvious why that happens. First I created a long list of "Substitute: pkgconfig(x) libx-devel=" to the prjconfig. Using such 'BuildRequires: pkgconfig(x)' in a spec file substitutes the pkgconfig() properly. But if a package gets a new 'Requires: pkgconfig(x)' it is not handled properly by the solver. MPlayer for example: SLE_11 x86_64 unresolvable: nothing provides pkgconfig(x11) needed by libvdpau-devel nothing provides pkgconfig(libcrypto) needed by librtmp-devel nothing provides pkgconfig(libssl) needed by librtmp-devel The new librtmp-devel has: binaries.SLE_11/librtmp-devel-2.4.git20131007-2.2.x86_64.rpm requires: pkgconfig(libcrypto) pkgconfig(libssl) provides: pkgconfig(librtmp) = v2.4 And the prjconf has: %if 0%{?suse_version} == 1110 Substitute: pkgconfig(libssl) libopenssl-devel= %endif So I would think that something should resolve "pkgconfig(libssl)" back to libopenssl-devel when processing the BuildRequires for MPlayer. Why is that not working for the SLE_11 repo? It appears to work for the openSUSE_11.4 repo. Hi all After installing a OBS version 2.5.4.. I'm unable to fetch repos from api.opensuse.org.. I'm using a proxy server to access the internet, and this has been configured in /etc/sysconfig/proxy and /usr/lib/obs/server/BSConfig.pm (our $proxy = http://proxyinfo:port)... But stil the server tries to access api.opensuse.org direct, instead of using the proxy... What to do??? Dear list, in my private OBS instance, there's a project that uses the following repository config: <repository name="openSUSE_13.1"> <path project="openSUSE.org:openSUSE:13.1" repository="standard"/> <path project="openSUSE.org:Application:Geo" repository="openSUSE_13.1"/> <path project="openSUSE.org:KDE:Qt53" repository="openSUSE_13.1"/> <path project="openSUSE.org:devel:libraries:c_c++" repository="openSUSE_13.1"/> <arch>x86_64</arch> </repository> One spec file features these BuildRequires: BuildRequires: gcc-c++, make BuildRequires: libqt5-qtbase-devel BuildRequires: libgdal-devel, libgeos-devel, libproj-devel BuildRequires: boost-devel >= 1.56.0, liblog4cxx-devel Now, when trying to build the packages, I get: unresolvable: nothing provides boost-devel >= 1.56.0, nothing provides libQt5Sql5 = 5.3.2 needed by libQt5Sql5-sqlite But libQt5Sql5 is part of KDE:Qt53, even in the given version. I added the repository to my local machine's zypper config and ran "zypper se 'libQt5Sql5 = 5.3.2', and it found the package! Same with "boost-devel >= 1.56.0". "liblog4cxx", which also comes from "openSUSE.org:devel:libraries:c_c++", is *not* listed as unresolveable. I'd like to debug these messages, but I'm unsure on where to start. Hello, i have a question to Linking projects. Can i remove a project-link from other to my project? The reason is, that i have packages wich should not publish, beacause they are not ready. For this reason i have Build disabled. In the other repo, the packages are build and in software-search the build from other project, wich links to my projekt, is published. This is the main reason. The other is, what appreciation have this linking? It's costs storage and the packages are absolute identical to my packages. So, how can i remove the project link to my project? https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:aljex:branches:Base:System/bash I link branched a package, and made a tiny change to .spec . Everything was fine, it built, it didn't show the errors it shows now. Then I wanted to SR the change back upstream. To do that I need to add an entry in .changes Editing the .changes, whether directly in the web ui or through osc vc & ci, results in these errors and all builds saying broken as it shows now. Why can I edit .spec without errors and not .changes? How can I work on a linked package like this where I want the package to be linked and still exist after the SR is accepted? (The SR has been accepted btw, so really, the upstream files should match mine now anyways.) Am I supposed to delete and rebranch the package every time? Hi all, we are running a private instance of obs. After upgrading 2.4 to 2.5 I ran into timing issue between obs-worker and rep_server. I always got an "rpc timeout" on the worker. I figured out, that 3 seconds timeout are to short, maybe because of running obs server on a virtual machine. [opensuse-buildservice] How to link to projects on remote OBS instances?

Dear list, I've a software that I need to build privately, so I've (successfully) set up and linked it to https://api.opensuse.org/public. The software I'd like to package uses libraries from projects on build.opensuse.org, namely the "Application:Geo" and "KDE:Qt53" projects, so I figure I need a way to link my own project to the other two mentioned in order to get the dependencies right. This is my first endevour with OBS, so I'm unsure how to do this. Google found me a Wiki page on project linking [0], and so I added the following two lines to my project metaconfig: <link project="Application:Geo"/> <link project="KDE:Qt53"/> Still, libraries such as "libgeos-devel", "libgdal-devel" or "libQt5Core- devel" that are part of the two remote projects. Surely I'm missing something here. Could somebody point out what exactly? Any help would be really appreciated! JFYI, ScientificLinux 7 got added to build.opensuse.org instance. And both (6 & 7) distributions got added to the simple list of build targets in webui. Note: SL does promise to be binary compatible with RHEL 7 afaik. Hi there, I need to setup our own OBS server (without internet access) for the architectures Intel "x86_64" and ARM "armv5tel". I am using the OBS Appliance v2.5.4.3 downloaded from: http://openbuildservice.org/download/ running as a VM in VirtualBox having 3 discs: sda1 root 97GiB / sda2 swap 2GiB swap sdb1 LVM 25GiB vg:OBS:cache /var/cache/obs/worker rest vg:OBS:worker_{root,swap}_[1..8] /var/cache/obs/worker/root_[1..8] sdc1 LVM 300 GiB vg:data:server /srv/obs I have tried to make use of the following recipes to get such a stand-alone OBS server up and running, but so far it has all been in vain (have tried multiple times, but have not even been able to get a reproducible result each time so far): 1. E.g. the instructions described in "README.SETUP" in chapter 6 simply cannot work anymore in OBS v2.5, because port 81 is not available anymore, just to mention one among other things. So, what does one have to do, to bootstrap an OBS v2.5.4 server for the Intel "x86_64" and ARM "armv5tel" architectures from scratch? For the bootstrapping itself, I would be able to have internet access, if need be, but after having gotten the OBS server fully bootstrapped, it must be able to continue to work without any internet access. Hi list, Please bear with me if asking newby questions. I've been using the results of the OBS for many years, but i founf myself needing some packages that were not updated for quite some time. Easiest way might be pinging on factory list, but I presume doing-it-yourself might be considered a better option. I don't have the impression anyone else might benefit from it, but when succeeding i will learn a lot. My first attempt was branching off an existing (and known working) package. To be able to build locally i needed libpcsc-devel, so i branched security:/chipcard/pcsc-lite. I defined build-targets OS12.2, OS12.3, OS13.1 OS_factory and SLES11SP3, which all do exists. How come that SLES11SP3 failed with "unresolvable" ? I thought i branched off a working config? Same happens with openvpn (branched from network:/vpn/ ) One might think that "some people" might not be allowed to build for sles, but when i branche off security:/chipcard/opensc the build works OK, also for SLES. So before doing something useful, THE OBS got me puzzling here already. Any enlightments? [opensuse-buildservice] Memory requirements of build jobs

Hey there. So, I've been experiencing intermittent build failures due to memory exhaustion. I'm thinking I should perhaps add a constraints file, but is there a way to find out how much memory the build requires in that build node? It's dependant on many things, architecture and gcc version and number of parallel jobs at least, so it doesn't seem to match the requirements on my machines (I could always build just fine with 2G for instance). I want to migrate some packages from a home project on build.opensuse.org to a local obs and keeping the build numbers. By using osc copypac the local obs starts with revision 1. Is there a way to copy all revisions or to modify the next build number ? Bizarrely, package succeeded in 10.3 x86_64 yet failed in 10.3 i586, and the error was while still setting up the vm: [ 12s] mkswap: error while loading shared libraries: libuuid.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory The other failing target is 11.0 both i586 and x86_64 getbinaries: missing packages: libuuid Is there something going on with the build environment just at the moment? [opensuse-buildservice] a broad appeal to fix opensuse's package-management's repository/redirector failure & recovery mechasnism

In my experience, package management's routine failure to find/use a 'healthy' repository is a long-standing production problem. I'm requesting a fix. Here's a summary: I run Opensuse 13.1 on numerous machines lsb_release -rd Description: openSUSE 13.1 (Bottle) (x86_64) Release: 13.1 Current count is ~200. The machines are installed at multiple locations around the globe. They're connected to the 'net via a variety of different networks providers. Some of the machines are directly connected to the 'net, some are behind LAN routers, switches & firewalls. Package management for all of the machines is handled exclusively via zypper cli. Each machine has a common core of repositories defined in /etc/zypp/repos.d, and frequently has a number of additional @openSUSE dev (!'home') repos defined. In ALL cases, the default install of repos sets have been installed with the meta-director as baseurl, baseurl=http://download.opensuse.org/... Regular package maintenance consists of zypper clean --all zypper (d)up The maintenance frequency is nominally 1/wk, often 1/dy, and in devs' cases, often more frequent. In virtually ALL cases, the update process regularly fails @ retrieving/refreshing the repos' (meta)data. For example, a typical result is: ... Checking whether to refresh metadata for KDE4-Extra-Unstable Retrieving: repomd.xml .......................................................................................[error] File '/repodata/repomd.xml' not found on medium 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Unstable:/Extra/KDE_Current_…' Abort, retry, ignore? [a/r/i/? shows all options] (a): ... This occurs occassionally for any/all repos, whether the standard distribution repos (security, update, etc), core DM (e.g. KDE*) additional repos, or the more 'esoteric' !home OBS-hosted repos (e.g., security:netfilter). The failure rate for overall update/upgrade process attempts is, very roughly, ~15%. The error is NON-recoverable. 'Abort' & 'retry' *never* work. Chats @ IRC re: the issue typically result in the same '(non)responses' : "wait", "works for me", "prove it", etc. The ONLY solution(s) that work are: (1) wait some random amount of time -- typically hours, occassionally days -- until the system magically heals itself, (2) visit the download.opensuse.org link for the repo, click 'details' for a target page, identify a specific working/available repo for the package(s) of interest, and manually edit baseurl= for the problematic repo. Neither is tenable for a reliable operating environment. It is simply unmanageable in either a single, local or widely-distributed environment. (2) is further confounded by the fact that, at any given time, a previously-working, manually-selected repo may, itself, fail, requiring -- yet again -- another manual intervention. Within the scope of our environment, no other distro's package management system has anywhere near the failure rate demonstrated here. (We've ~600+ other machines running a mix of Centos, Fedora, Debian & Ubuntu). This has been occurring for literally years, across multiple openSUSE versions, and remains unaddressed. I know, without any doubt, that others experience similar/frequent failures -- it's been a frequent discussion with our partners, as well as in openSUSE* IRC channels. This needs a fix. As to what, specifically, that fix can/should be -- I'm unclear. If a solution already exists, I'm unaware. One idea -- a fallback mechanism *within* a repos' definition would be useful For example, allow in a given repo's def'n, having multiple, numbered baseurls baseurl1=http://direct/url/to/specific/site/1/... baseurl2=http://direct/url/to/specific/site/2/... baseurl3=http://download.opensuse.org/... ... baseurlN=http://direct/url/to/specific/site/3/... and add fuction to zypper so that for each repo, the baseurls would be tried in order for any given failure. By adding, e.g., a failcount2abort=X to either/both a given repo's defn, or /etc/zypp(er).conf, the overall process could be terminated if there were "X" # of subsequent fails, indicating a likely systemic problem requiring further intervention. I'd appreciate hearing from "those responsible for keeping the redirector & repos working" re: * acknowledgement, or refusal thereof, of the failure issue * clarification as to why it occurs in the first place * ideas/suggestions as to what can/should be done to fix it Thanks. Hi all, I'm using the Build Service to generate a Vagrant box via kiwi: https://github.com/openSUSE/kiwi/wiki/Building-vagrant-boxes and I would like to inject into it at build-time a couple of .iso files which are generated by the same Build Service instance (but in a different project). I don't mind whether the .isos are injected as normal files, or are unpacked as part of the injection. But I would really like to do it at build-time if possible. So is there any way of doing this? I see that kiwi supports the <archive> element but the question is how to reference the .isos as sources. I guess I could use the download_files source service to fetch the .isos into the package prior to build-time, but the names of the .isos change every time they get rebuilt by the BS instance.
