[opensuse-buildservice] [Feature Request] Deploy images and stylesheets with the 1.0 release

Hi ! I'm running a local bs instance and noticed that some css-files and images are loaded from static.o.o when browsing the webinterface. Could these files be included in the deployment - this would save bandwith and speed up the (local) frontend. Hello, I got now a bit stronger PPC machine standing next to my desk ( http://en.opensuse.org/MPC8610 ). This brought me the idea, that I should recompile some buildservice projects for PPC (like: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Enlightenment/ or http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/UNSTABLE:/Desktop/ ). Before trying it myself I read some of the documentation, but I still have a couple of questions: - does the buildservice work at all on PPC? - if yes, is it a simple recompile of all files at http://ftp-1.gwdg.de/pub/opensuse/repositories/openSUSE:/Tools/openSUSE_11.… on PPC? - is it possible to check out a project from BS, like KDE4:/Unstable:/Desktop and recompile it locally for PPC in one go? I mean, without needing to compile individual source rpms one by one and needing to figure out the build order... [opensuse-buildservice] New project, and already a question about revision numbers

Hello, I just started using the build services. Great! Introduction: I'm providing a patched version of dcraw, a package named dcraw-omp, improving Dave Coffin's original by making use of OpenMP. Allthough the original openSUSE dcraw packages already makes it possible to use dcraw+OpenMP using my patches by editing the spec file, I needed that on a "regular bases" and as I complete replacement for dcraw. Because I'm the owner of an old 2x500MHz SMP box, and I am using a Canon 350D, waiting almost 40 seconds for an image wasn't really an option. Now the three tiny questions, because even after searching openSUSE and the mailing list archives I wasn't very happy with the found results: Q0: When checking in a few spec file chances I discovered, that the release and revision numbers are automatically incremented in the following way: 1.401-17.1 -> 1.401-18.1 -> 1.401-19.1. Where can I find any documentation about this behaviour, and how is the "Release:" field of the spec file interpreted? Or is it just beeing ignored? Q1: I can find two directories under repositories/home:/, one named "fietze" and one named "fietze:". The one with the colon just contains an incomplete trial using a branched and never finished KDE backports repository. The other one my dcraw-omp. Where can I find any documentation about the naming scheme of repository directory names? Q2: Where is defined when or how old revisions/releases are removed from the repositories? Thanks a lot. [opensuse-buildservice] Debian source bits

Hi, I'm using the heartbeat packages provided by OBS, they're most useful, thanks! However, there is no up-to-date xUbuntu 8.04 packages, and the 7.x packages do not install because they require libsnmp15 and 8.04 ships with libsnmp10. Anyway, long story short, I'd like to build my own packages by forward porting the 7.x ones - however the source repository bits don't exist - the diff from the orig tarball, and so on. The src.rpms appear to exist for RPM based distros. Hello, we will have a downtime, at least of all build workers next week Wednesday 18th June. The reason is that one of our server rooms gets new power connections and might be switched off the whole day. [opensuse-buildservice] Help with a rpmlint failure note

Hello all, I'm stuck with an error I get in OBS when building the package libspf2 in my project home:gbvalor. It builds OK in all but opensuse-11.0 and opensuse-factory . It also build the rpms but it seems rpmlint doesn't like a shared lib name : --- libspf2.x86_64: E: shlib-policy-name-error (Badness: 10000) libspf2-2 Your package contains a single shared library but is not named after its SONAME. --- But the strange thing is there no 'libspf2-2' file. Any help?. Is this a bug in rpmlint?. There are other nice things since rpmlint is working in OBS. I get warnings about no Packager tag in my rpms but if I set them in the spec files I also get a warning about 'hardwired packager tag in spec'. I suspect there is another way to set the Packager tag, but I don't know. RS/6000 machines were easy, when I tried them a couple of years ago, and Genesi boards are also no rocket science to install :-) The board mentioned is not yet a production board, but an evaluation board, a work in progress. I use it to check how SuSE works with this CPU, and I'm quite impressed! It is just 1.3Ghz compared to the 1Ghz of Pegasos ( http://www.genesi-usa.com/pegasos.php ), but 1.5x-4x faster, depending on application, while using less than 2/3 of electricity. For example building the same kernel takes about 1/3 the time. It has an unaccelerated framebuffer in the SoC, and it can still play some of the 720p HD movies! Hi, since quite some years Samba binaries for SUSE products are provided at ftp.suse.com/pub/projects/samba/ in an old-fashioned way. Several times in the recent past we, the Novell Samba Team, go the request to maintain Samba in the openSUSE Build Service (OBS). Thanks to Ludwig Nussel who gave an intensive hands on session some weeks ago this service is now up and in continous operation. Currently we have STABLE (3.0.30) and TESTING (3.2.0rc2) projects for CentOS, Fedora, Mandriva, RedHat Enterprise (RHEL), SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE), and openSUSE. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/samba:/MAINTAINED:/ provides dedictaed repositories with the Samba versions in use with SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) products. At the moment there are repositories for SLE 9 and 10. http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/samba:/ is a generic entry point and provides an overview of the current project structure. http://software.opensuse.org/search might be convenient too. All the package sources are useable by YaST, zypper, yum, or smart. http://en.opensuse.org/Samba provides general information about Samba at SUSE. [opensuse-buildservice] openSUSE Build Service 1.0 Release Candidate available

We just released the Build Service 1.0 release candidate. The final release is expected in two weeks. Most important about this release are the improvements in source handling. Submissions to foreign projects are possible now. That does mean that after two years of development, direct work on openSUSE distribution becomes possible, with bugzilla in between ! You see, we need sometimes a bit longer, but we keep our promises :) The Build Service at http://build.opensuse.org is already running it, so it can be already used for submissions. You just need the current osc from openSUSE:Tools project. When editing a package in openSUSE:Factory, you work usually on a branch of the maintainers project. In this way everybody can work close together with the official maintainers. These mechanism are usable via the osc command line client already. But the functionality is provided by the server, so I hope we can easily make the same functionality accessible in the other clients soon. We have a wiki page describing the way how to use this: http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Collaboration We expect still some rough edges in the functionality, but only practical usage will show them. A 1.1 has been added to the roadmap, which can improve these use cases: http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Roadmap Please keep in mind that Factory is frozen atm to get 11.0 out of the door. So submissions will not get check in in the next week.
