[opensuse-buildservice] rpmlint and "Packager"

Hello, whether I add "Packager" in a spec file or not, rpmlint complains in both cases. One time because of hardcoding. The other time because it is missing. Could this please be fixed? What I would like to see is that the buildservice-email-address also used in the GPG key of the repository is automatically copied into the spec (like e.g. changelog or revision). Is this possible (thought that would not fix the hardcoding error message) or can the name+email be added in the build command directly? [opensuse-buildservice] Problems with files added by remote URI

Hello, I tried to compile the fox1.4 package for ubuntu and wanted to add the sources directly from the debian server http://packages.debian.org/etch/libfox1.4 Unfortunately when adding the files by URL to my obs package (like http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/f/fox1.4/fox1.4_1.4.34.orig.tar.gz) something went wrong, because the build process fails: dpkg-source: error: file fox1.4_1.4.34.orig.tar.gz has md5sum 724e66b89b5451d5032165e03ff5228d instead of expected 3424b9d3f9b71e1f53e9c3822de3b76c I checked this by downloading the file once from the debian site and once from the obs and they have different checksums indeed. The sizes are the same thus it is probably not a matter of automatic gz extraction. The diff.gz of the same package has the same problem, that's why I think there might be something wrong with the remote upload. Has anyone else encountered this problem? Is there a known workaround besides down-/uploading? Hi! We improved kiwi now to be able to build also images for arm (and other architectures) on an x86 host. Only remaining is the rebuild-loop when kiwi is used inside obs. Let's hunt that little bug now ;). Summary: The scenario is like this: project "imaging:Admin", package "foo", repository "image". Simple kiwi-config (only bootstrap section!), output is ext2-image. Filename ends in "*0.0.1" (version in the kiwi.xml). Hello, I tried to build netcdf on CentOS and it stumbled over the following line PreReq: %install_info_prereq As far as I understand it, this line is needed to prepare the installation of info files but the (CentOS) build went through without it as well. Is this feature unneeded (unsupported) on CentOS? Should I try to forward my changes to the package maintainer and which is the preferred way to do so? (I tried it once with a different package by mailing him directly and got no answer.) [opensuse-buildservice] Automatic test for correct installation

Hello, as far as I understand it, there is currently no test whether a package build by the build service can also be installed (if it is not used by other packages). Maybe there already is such a test and I just did not find the correct settings? If not, one solution would be to create a dummy package which has a BuildRequires line mentioning just the package to test. In the build part it could try to execute an exectuable of the package and report failures. Is it possible to create a package consisting of a spec only? Is there an easier way to achieve this, because I would need one extra package for every package I want to test? Hello Friends, i've downloaded BOINC Source from svn/tags and maked a *.spec-File. When i run the OBS/complete rebuild Link, the build runs a while. [opensuse-buildservice] Build question for packing precompiled binairies of a different platform

I'm trying to build a package from a binary: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Toolchain As it's a cross compilation for the openmoko I get a log of error due to the |/usr/lib/rpm/brp-* scripts. I'm wondering how to disable these checks. By the way i only got openSuSE 11.0 build to work only by adding rpmlint filter lines. I'm wondering isn't there a way to just untar the package via rpmbuild in a way that's untouched by any of the tests? That is basically what I want to accomplish. I want to able to install the package in /usr/local as is needed fore this build and have the advantages of rpm. I hope my question is clear. I've attached the errors I get. (The binaries are compiled for a arm (OpenEmbedded) not a x86/ix86 as it's for cross build). Regards, Joop Boonen.

[opensuse-buildservice] OBS: Cross-build and Download on Demand - Major Milestone reached

Hi, due to missing news about the OBS development Marcus, Jan-Simon and me are stepping in. Cross-build and Download on Demand, now integrated in one single patch, have reached a major milestone of "testing and usability". You can now use these new features by installing the following openSUSE:Tools:Devel packages: - qemu-svn+gcc3 - obs-all-cross The rest is the same as running a normal OBS in fact. We have successfully tested it for the following processor targets: - openSUSE:10.3 @ i586,ppc,x86_64 - Fedora:9 @ i586,ppc,x86_64 - Fedora:8 @ arm,i586,ppc,x86_64 - Debian:Etch @ arm,i586,ppc,x86_64 - Debian:Lenny @ arm,i586,ppc,x86_64 - Debian:Sid @ arm,i586,ppc,x86_64 You can then activate builds for the new targets. You must install the QEMU in the workers, then OBS Workers can automatically run ARM processor jobs. Emulated targets can be used like x86 targets on a x86 machine in local builds as well as OBS Worker builds. Also other distributions than this list should work, we have chosen for testing the widely used Distros from openSUSE, Fedora and Debian type. You do not need a remote OBS and no complete local copy to build for these targets from now on. A complete copy of a distro for Debian:Etch would need 50 GB local diskspace for processor architectures arm,i586,ppc,x86_64. But with Download on Demand, only those Packets needed are loaded on the local disk. Typical minimum loaded packages for a chroot with a compiler are no more than 200 MB per processor architecture versus 15 GB or more for a complete copy. Mega collections like "Fedora Everthing" spin are even bigger per architecture. After configuring the cross-build and download on demand feature, you can build and run for the listed targets. The qemu emulator is sufficently fixed to run on even oldest and newest ARM Processor Distributions with glibc 2.7, gcc 4.3 and kernel headers 2.6.26 (like Debian:Sid on ARM - Sid is the Factory equivalent for Debian). In the next step we will test the quality of emulators for the other processor targets. Also, Jan Simon has already some news on OBS KIWI Imaging and zypper usage on the issue. He will soon report. Hello, my Name is Sascha Manns, and i make my first Steps in compiling RPM's. For Testing i maked an Buildservice-Account (build.opensuse.org) with my Novell-Account. No i maked i Subproject in home:/saigkill:/boinc/ . I maked the Project-Description and have uploaded an ready compiled RPM through the Webinterface. Then i'm going to the right Side, Point "Repositories". I had installed the openSUSE 11.0 Repository and disabled x86_64-Build and Publish. Then i disabled Build-i586, but i left the Publish-i586 Button. Now i would like to access my Repository with: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/saigkill:/ but i become an Answer: "Object not found". Hi, I tried to apply the patch to the current svn release obs-server-1.1.0.5466S, but the patches doesn' t work anymore (unable to find the lines to patch). Maybe kiwi will be working soon. I removed some package in my sles10.kiwi and finally OBS started to create the image. But I can' t find the image :-(. Searched the whole disk for a file. But I' ve the same error as you, the building goes in an endless loop. It seems like the KIWI build process will not set the finish flag, unfortunatly I' ve no idea how to set it. To test the xUbuntu repo, I wanted to add it to my sources.list, but when I checked the Packages (and Packages.gz) file, it turns out that only amd64 packages are listed in the file. Hi, my idea is to automaticaly rebuild a package after a commit in the SVN. Exist already a plugin to do it? If not I' m thinking about a wrapper, which does the SVN commit and afterwards uploads the sources to OBS. Maybe you have to add a small meta file to the SVN, which includes the OBS name. Hi all, I'm new in build service and I've a problem when I build locally. In fact it seems that packages I build are not visible to the others I build after. Il particular I'm trying to build OpenOffice.org on local machine. It is composed of several packages where someone depend on others. I manage to build the first, which is OpenOffice_org-bootstrap, but when I try to build the next OpenOffice_org-ure I receive this message: dozza@barbera:~/Projects/BuildService/home:davide_dozza/OpenOffice_org-ure> osc build openSUSE_11.0 i586 OpenOffice_org-ure.spec Building OpenOffice_org-ure.spec for openSUSE_11.0/i586 Getting buildinfo from server buildinfo is broken... it says: expansion error: nothing provides OpenOffice_org-bootstrap = 3.0.0.6 After the build the package OpenOffice_org-bootstrap is into the directory /var/tmp/build-root/usr/src/packages/RPMS/ The problem doesn't happen if I build remotely on build service. Hi, Today I noticed that one my packages failed in xUbuntu 8.04 x86_64 host. My package builds fine on OpenSUSE 11, Factory, Fedora9..etc. It appears that OBS installs 32bit version packages (which I also build in my home project) in the 64bit host, despite the fact the 64bit version is also available. >From the log file, I can see CMake locating the library in /usr/lib/libfoo and not /usr/lib64/libfoo where the 64bit package is supposetd to install it. Any idea what's going on? Hi, I'm trying to know on the client side if the build is enabled for a package (for a specific repo/arch). My first guess is to use 'osc meta pkg $project $package', but if the package uses the default settings of the project, then I have no information. First question: would it make sense to show the inherited settings in the metadata here? So I look at 'osc meta prj $project' and I only have those lines which look kind of relevant (although they're probably just here to list the architectures supported for the given repository in this project): <arch>i586</arch> <arch>x86_64</arch> But no mention if the build is enabled or disabled. Any pointer of what I should do? I'm currently building a cross compiler project i.e. I'm moving the sources to the right location of a pre-compiled project. It's http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Toolchain#Downloading_and_installing A problem occurs is openSuSE 11.0 and higher. These build version on OBS run the |/usr/lib/rpm/brp-* ||||scripts (especially ||/usr/lib/rpm/brp-rpath)||. Because of this it checks the links etc. As it's a cross compiler project i don't this it should try to link the libraries. Is there a way to disable the the ||/usr/lib/rpm/brp-* ||||checking scripts? Hi, Marcus Hüwe and me have been working on putting together a combined version of: - OBS cross-build - OBS Download on Demand There is a Wiki Concept Page now: http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service/Concepts/CrossDevelopment. The packages to download for qemu/OBS are inside the project openSUSE:Tools:Devel/obs-all-cross and qemu-svn+gcc3. Download on Demand is an own feature, which allows you very similiar to the remote OBS feature to use the Packages from an ftp/http server without completely downloading it. Whats even more interesting with that is that it generates the meta data from the original Deb/Rpmmd data. How to use it is described in the above Wiki page. Also, the qemu is now sufficiently fixed (more testing for other archs underway) so that it can run at least for ARM architectures the build environment to up to date distros like Debian:Lenny or even Debian:Sid (which use current gcc/glibc - Lenny will be released this year). If you need the meta prjconf those distros (which are different from Debian:Etch), drop me an e-mail. One of the next steps would be to bootstrap an openSUSE Release for ARM. Be aware that there is a known bug inside download on demand which can result in continued package rebuilds. Restarting the scheduler after such an "loop" fixes the problem. Hi, In the last few days, I noticed that the i586 queues are stacking up, sometimes in the thousands especially during peak hours. The x86_64 can get clogged up too sometimes but they tend to clear up pretty quickly. Is this is a simple resource limitation issue, or is there something else going on? As the BuildService becomes more popular, this will only get worse. [opensuse-buildservice] Thoughts about OBS

All, I'm now working with the OBS for some time. First of all I like it a lot. But I was wondering about the few things that could make it even better in my eyes. 1) When I change/add/remove a the building process starts automatically. I think it's wasting the resources quite a bit. I would prefer that I can also control the build process myself (So it will only run when it's really needed). And maybe that auto build process starts when one has logged out. 2) I have a few projects in my build "Home Project" that would easely also build for Fedora, Mandriva, Centos. But when i select these all packages in my "Home Project" will start to build for Fedora, Mandriva and Centos. Even the ones I know on the forehand will not work. Might it be possible to assign (extra) "Build Repositories" per package? 3) In the package view i have a show option for text files. It looks very nice. What i would like to have is a diff view like for instance viewvc and may even have cvs like functions to go back to a previous version? 4) When editing the file it would be nice to have a preferred template for the spec file at the side from which one can copy from. This way the spec files will be more uniform I think. [opensuse-buildservice] Making the build script solve package dependencies

In a quest to make sure I don't have to repeatedly make a small change, use osc to update the packages on the build service, and then wait for a rebuild, I've been using the build script[0]. For most packages this works well but on some of the perl packages I'm building, I'm having problems where two or more packages satisfying dependencies and the build script aborting because it can't choose one or the other. The most common situation is where perl-libwww-perl and sitescooper both provide several of the same dependencies, with sitescooper usually having the older version. While the build service installs the package perl-libwww-perl, the build script aborts with an expansion error listing all the packages that satisfy the dependencies. What I'd like to know is, short of adding a specific dependency for perl-libwww-perl to the spec files, is there a way to make the build script handle the dependencies just like the build service? Hi, since OBS 0.9 it should be possible to crate KIWI images. But if I upload a sample SLES10 KIWI file to my local OBS or to the opensuse OBS I just get the message "exlcuded". I used the config.xml from kiwi-desc-isoboot-2.88-80.1. Best regards. Hi, I'm looking for database meta package, allowing to specify a requirement, which can be satisfied by either installing MySQL or Postgres. I also need to specify the requirement for the matching php extension (php5-mysql for mysql or php5-pgsql for postgres). Does something like that exists for SUSE and even better for the other (RPM) distros supported by the build service. The PHP application I need this for is server:eGroupWare (www.egroupware.org). I've read some concerns from other distributions about TrueCrypt (thread starts here: http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/distributions/2008-October/000273.html) TrueCrypt is indeed not OSI compliant, we have a policy that the build service contains only OSI compliant packages and therefore I suggest to put TrueCrypt on the blacklist (see http://en.opensuse.org/Application_Black_List) under a heading "Packages with non-OSI License" and get it removed. Good day! I've recently updated my local Build Service to openSuSE 11.0 with a production environment. Live Log Refreshing is not working and I can't see my packages files on the webclient. Hi, I connect to my local OBS with an alias. But if I try to download a compiled file, the browser tries to download it from: 127.0.42.2 My idea was changing production_slave.rb:FRONTEND_HOST = "127.0.42.2" But after I changed the value, OBS frontend stopped working. [opensuse-buildservice] i586 builds no longer active?

Hi I'm wondering what happened to i586 builds. According to the Server Status webpage (https://build.opensuse.org/monitor) most x86_64 machines (I think they can also build for i586) are idle, but more than 6000 packages are waiting to be built for i586. Some of my packages are now scheduled since more than a day for i586. :-( Any idea? Known issue? Hi, I am trying to build a package for Yorick, a scientific interpreted language, for opensuse. I am new to this. I started by reading the build service tutorial: http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service. From there, it seems like a good idea to build the package locally first, using the 'build' tool. Thus I went to: http://en.opensuse.org/SUSE_Build_Tutorial. However, it seems this tutorial is rather vague, and does not consist of actual steps with specific instructions of what to type in / do. It gets really bad in 2.2: configure build. It even tells one to do "and things like that." So I'm confused. Is there a better guide available? If so, it should be mentioned on the build tutorial page. If this tutorial is simply still a work in progress, I'm happy to try improving it. Perhaps I misunderstand the workflow. Am I supposed to configure the build environment at the command prompt, or is this done automatically by commands inside the rpm .spec file? Hi, I'm wondering why the web frontend loads content from opensuse.org. The following files have references to opensuse.org /srv/www/obs/webclient/app/views/layouts/application2.rhtml /srv/www/obs/webclient/public/css/local/contentadd_style.css /srv/www/obs/webclient/public/css/local/style.css I attached a small patch for application2.rhtml, to change the web links to local pathes. Note: The iehacks_opensuse.css is different from the version of static.opensuse.org. Hi, I work on Java:jpackage-5.0 project and have troubles with xml-commons-* packages. It seems, that OBS prefers a xml-commons packages from openSUSE: {11.0,Factory}. But I don't know why. The Java:jpackage currently contains: - jpackage-utils - ant-bootstrap - xalan-j2-bootstrap - xml-commons (version* 0:1.3.04) The distribution contains a same packages with version number 1.3.02. But without something like that in spec (see xerces-j2-bootstrap): %if ! %defined suse_version BuildRequires: xml-commons-resolver >= 0:1.1 BuildRequires: xml-commons-apis >= 0:1.3 %else BuildRequires: xml-commons-resolver12 BuildRequires: xml-commons-jaxp-1.3-apis %endif obuild always install a versions from openSUSE:. I have tried some "magic" with Prefer, or Substitute in a prjconf, but without a success. * I know, that Epoch is not used in SUSE, but I try to do a minimum changes to spec files in this project. Maybe this should be a problem ... Is there something I missed?
