Building on Debian_Etch in the BS currently fails for me with:
-su: line 0: cd: /usr/src/packages/BUILD: No such file or directory
(see
https://api.opensuse.org/result/net-snmp/Debian_Etch/net-snmp-main-snapshot…)
while a local build works perfectly fine. What's wrong?

into inclusion in the main distribution?
Are there defined milestones a packages must pass? (Besides a clean build, of course.)
What are showstoppers?
Is there a predefined way to work a package`s way up into OpenSuse?
Or does the intention to include packages from BS into OpenSuse even exist?
Is there some document that defines what should happen with BuildService´s packages in the long term?
I´m asking because I get regular requests from the R community if it would be possible to include R on the Suse-CDs. Can anyone with more knowledge say anything about it?
I´d be very happy to receive any hints.
Regards,
Detlef

Gentlemen, I would like to apologize for my misstep in protocol. I have
started a new project called "Education"
http://en.opensuse.org/Education and I did not ask here first.
Please accept my apologies for this and take a moment to look at the
project. I am very new to all this and I need\would like your help.
I need guidance, ideas, contributions and experienced maintainers.
Thanks for all your patience

In trying to build on SLE10/SLES9/SUSE9.3 I'm getting to expansion errors for a couple of missing packages. These are check and doxygen for SLE10, check for SLES9/SUSE9.3. I also need to specify a different version of autoconf for Factory (require 2.59).
Could someone recommend the best way to overcome these issues please?
Many thanks,
Andy

Building on xUbuntu_6.06 fails for me with:
expansion error: have choice for awk needed by base-files: mawk gawk
Is this a problem with my .dsc (Project net-snmp, package
net-snmp-main-snapshot) or a BS bug?

hi,
In home: repos and on some other spaces, it's common to also find
Mandriva and Fedora Repositories (badly not for the latest releases, so
onlt FC5 and Mandriva 2006).
Who is deciding if they also get added to games:*, server:* and so on?
Is it just, when I want it, I add it? And I fix whatever spec file of
whatever package I would like to build?
Then one more question:
What construction can I use to work around the different naming
conventions for the distros?
something like
%if %suse
BuildRequires: alsa-devel
%else if %mandriva
buildRequires: libalsa-devel
%endif
Are there some specific implementations for this?

thx to all for the quick answers.
I tried to build in home:dsteuer first where building failed because of "R not in path". Probably I did not look hard enough to identify the real problem and concluded that R-base was missing.
Anyway: some spec-file modifications later it just works.
Thx again,
Detlef

Hi,
I´ve the package R-base successfully built in home:dsteuer.
Now I want to add a project named "littler", which has BuildRequires: R-base.
R-base naturally is not in any of the repositories I want to build littler for.
How can I do that? Is it possible? I guess yes, but I can´t figure it out.

Hi,
I am trying to access a package in my home project without success, I
get the following error:
OpenSUSE Webclient Error:
Error Details:
Errorcode:
Message: Backend Error: 404
Details: excess hash entries: workerid
The package I am trying to access is wsmancli.
Any idea what is going wrong here?

hm, don't see a missing file for x86_64, have a look on my hula.rpm in my
bs-home:
http://software.opensuse.org/download/home:/drcux/SUSE_Linux_10.1/
