Distorted sound

I have some video clips, taken with very cheap and ugly camera :) Problem is, that there is no application that can play the sound from the clip in Linux. In Windoze is sound ok, with no special drivers. Address of an example file is http://linux.ee/~vagula/jalgpall.avi Beware, file is 1,5 MB. ain

Hello, just installed suse 8.2 pro on this computer.Its an 700mhz athlon with irongate/viper chipset. I have the video card working but not the tuner or input stuff. Tried to configure it like i did in slackware,but that seems to screw up my xf86config. I'm just looking to watch tv and record some home video stuff through the composite video input. The suse hardware shows this video card is supported. Has anyone else got this to work?

different avi-types?

Hello! I have rescued a couple of *.avi files from a friend's win-xp system crash ;-|. Most files are the original downstream files from his camera. These files (up to 4GB, but also smaller ones) can not be read by mainactor 3.5 or mainactor 5.0-demo from the suse distributions. Kaffeine shows a black screen but plays the sound - it may be a tribute to my weak system (PII/350). Avi files which were allready treated by Pinacle can be handled by mainactor. My question: Are there different types of avi and/or i need extra libs/ plugins/workarounds ? thx frank

SCSI/Scanner again

Hello again, i changed the card to an Adaptec Card AHA-2920 (96001-00 A) (the screen at the boot process tells me: Adaptec PCI) and now i have got two problems: 1. Windows 98 freezes, if the scanner isn't switched on at the boot process. After Windows completely loaded, i can switch off the scanner (strange, but i can arrange with that problem) 2. Under SuSE Linux 8.0 Yast2 tells me: there is no SCSI-Scanner and cdrecord -- scanbus shows no scsi-Card (it only shows the scsi - emulation of my dvd and cd- burner). On the left side Yast2 tells me at last: You have to install the scsi-Scanner manually.... and that i have to choose the scanner from the list ..... but there is no list with scanners or scsi-Cards.... This is at last the same message that i got while using the AdvanSys ABP 925. What have i to do, to install a scsi-card manually? Hmmm, Never tried changing the text console res before! I always use a resized terminal window within KDE... I just switched to SuSE 9.0, winbook Z1 (1400x1050 ATi Rage Pro 128 Mobile) so I bet this will work under 8.2 also. May not be kosher but it worked for me. Cheat: when you boot up pass the kernel "vga=1400x1050" and you get the native resolution. Type it into the box at the bottom of the grub boot/choice screen. Console resolution problems

Hello, I'm using SuSE 8.2. on IBM R40 Series notebook with ATI Radeon Mobility 7500 graphic card. The LCD display was made for primary resolution 1400x1050. I have no problem under X, but in the console mode I can't set this resolution and a screen is not sharp. I'm guessing that need to change frame buffer settings (/etc/fb.modes), but I have no idea how to do that, or how to calculate all frame buffer parameters. mp3 problems with SuSE 8.2

I can't get mp3's to play. I can play cd's. I can rip cd's to mp3, ftp them to my WinXP and play them but they won't play on Linux. I recompiled libmad, libid3tag and mplayer. No luck. I get some noise and the player "clock" advances very slowly or "skips". Any help would be greatly appreciated. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
