It's really no job of a distribution to worry about how users use the software inside. I mean, if it was a botnet, whose only discernible purpose is inherently illegal, maybe (and just maybe). But password cracking software exists for many reasons other than to crack someone else's password. And even if not, until someone legally complains, and somehow the distribution is forced to remove it, I see no point in banning any software. If it was just the potential for illegal use, you'd also ban cp, since it can be used to copy copyrighted content, and also gimp, since it can be used to edit content licensed under no-derivatives, and whatever other software you could imagine was harmless, which can most certainly be used for some illegal purpose. Not to mention that password cracking, in my IANAL view (because IANAL), isn't illegal at all. At least in my jurisdiction. OBS says: nothing provides ntfs-3g = 2011.4.12 needed by ntfs-3g-devel In the ISO-image of SLE11-SDK-SP3 both ntfs-3g and ntfs-3g-devel are at the same level: zypper se -s ntfs-3g Loading repository data... [opensuse-buildservice] Introduction

Hi, while I have a lot of question recently, I realized I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Miroslav Suchy (shorten as Mirek). I work for Red Hat and I want to get OBS-server into Fedora. We (as Fedora) may later use OBS (or not), but that is not decided yet. But getting OBS into Fedora is first step. So I am now trying to get OBS dependencies into Fedora. Later OBS itself. And even later contribute with some features, which will be needed for Fedora. So please be patient with me. [opensuse-buildservice] Upgrade Appliance

Hi, I've installed the appliance and would like to upgrade it, specifically for the new full page editor, but for good system practices too. How is this best done? The system has a lot of custom network stuff, as it's in an enterprise setting, so don't want to reinstall it. RPMs ftw! Hi, I have recently upgraded my desktop from 12.1 to 12.3 so the problem could be related to this event. Nevertheless the question is why the completion for osc (osc.sh) is in /etc/profile.d while most other completions are in /etc/bash_completion.d/ directory For the later I do not need to do anything but for osc I have to source. OBS use rubygem hoptoad_notifier. But this gem is deprecated (and 2 years unmaintained). But the successor - gem airbrake - is distributed under non-free (as libre) license. [opensuse-buildservice] imported package was not deleted when I deleted the built packages from original arch

Hello, We have our own private OBS 2.3.6 instance. I have a project which has two architectures which are i586 and armv7l. I have a cross tool package and configure ExportFilter in project conf like this "ExportFilter: \.armv7l\.rpm$ armv7l" Suppose the cross tool package is 'a' and the result rpms are a.i586.rpm, cross-a.armv7l.rpm and cross-a.armv7hl.rpm. After package 'a' has been built, I have cross-a.rpm in 'armv7l/:full' and the cross tool is available for armv7l repository. But If I disable and wipe the package 'a' from i586 arch, the cross-a package is still available for armv7l repository. I observed that the import event handling code in scheduler had some hole. The i586 scheduler sent import event along with 'replaced.xml' which has the list of packages with 'id'. When armv7l scheduler got the event, it created oldrepo and the key was the just name of rpm plus '.rpm'. In this case the oldrepo had only one entry which was cross-a.armv7hl.rpm because the keys from two packages would be same and cross-a.armv7hl.rpm overwrote cross-a.armv7l.rpm. When scheduler tried to delete imported package from armv7l/:full, it compared 'id' of package. But it was different in this case. because the package in :full was cross-a.armv7l.rpm but the compared 'id' was from cross-a.armv7hl.rpm. [opensuse-buildservice] :repoinfo is overwritten with obs_admin clone repository

Hello, When I used obs_admin --clone-repository, the ':repoinfo' file in source repository was overwritten by destination repository. I ran something like 'obs_admin --clone-repository A a B b'. the :repoinfo in B/b is hardlinked to A/a/:repoinfo. and :repoinfo in B/b is updated with the name of repository 'b'. And it causes A/a/:repoinfo changes. The :repoinfo itself has the name of repository in it. I think the :repoinfo shouldn't be hard linked. Thanks and regards.
