[opensuse-buildservice] build issues on Debian/xUbuntu

On both Debian Etch and xUbuntu 6.06 I still see: machine type: i686 /.build/build: line 197: mount: command not found cp: cannot create special file `/.build/swapdev': Read-only file system cp: cannot stat `/.build/swapdev': No such file or directory /.build/build: line 212: swapon: command not found Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init! <0>Rebooting in 1 seconds.. FWIW, this happens on build09. System halted. On my system I can build the RPMs using osc... I have not the slightest idea what to do now... Ideas? Carsten

[opensuse-buildservice] build hosts

Hi, we do have switched now completely to XEN based build hosts. There are sometimes some problems, when setting up the build system, when the system is unable to create loopback device for some unknown reason. When you observe any other problems, esp. during creating setup of the build system, please send us the last lines and tell us when the build did run on which build host. We are not interested in bug reports which happen before this mail ;) We do also plan a XEN update for all hosts, but it seems that the remaining problems we do have atm are independent from xen ... Please have some patience to get 100% working build hosts back, but when we really have stabilized this, the system will work more reliable than ever before thanks to the XEN chaining :) (and it is also another step towards the opening of the build service). have fun adrian PS: I will update the Factory distribution after the new XEN build hosts have installed to do a full stress test for them. [opensuse-buildservice] Hanging jobs

hi, When checking the Build Monitor (build.opensuse.org/monitor) it seems that several process are hanging for a long time already (4 hours). Is there a scheduled process to kill them or will they stale there forever until an admin sees it? Checking the 8 oldest in the list, it seems they did not even start building so far. [opensuse-buildservice] openSUSE: build service - osc local build and linked packages

Hi, when trying to build a checked out package with the osc local build on a package that is linked, I get an error. E.g.: $ cd Base\:build/binutils $ osc build standard i586 binutils.spec Error: specfile 'binutils.spec' does not exist. This is a bit disturbing and makes the osc client local build option a bit useless in the sense that you would like to use it to: a) add features to packages b) test changes locally c) commit to repository when the changes work Two options were considered (when consulting Dr. Peter Poeml): a) solve this in the buildserver (recommendation by Peter) b) solve this in the osc client (recommendation by mine) E.g. the above command should have the same semantics like this: $ cd Base:build/binutils $ cat _link && echo <link project='openSUSE:Factory' package='binutils'/> Then "osc build standard i586 binutils.spec" works like: $ ln -s ../../<project>/<package> . $ osc build standard i586 binutils.spec including the fact that local files have priority over linked files with the same name. Any comments on the issue? More and more packages contain now links, there is now a linkable base of the Factory Packages in openSUSE:Factory. Soon there will be tagging, so there will be massive use of links in the future. So I would be happy if you could fix that. [opensuse-buildservice] Fedora Extras 6 big problem?

Hello, I compiled my rnxcmp package and it works very well, except on "Fedora Extras 6". As the error is very unlikely to be in the package (it has nearly no requirements) I think something in Fedora build system must be wrong (Kernel panic :-).
