Hi, I have a Creative MuVo 64MB player. It worked fine with SuSE 9.0 but when I upgraded to 9.1 Pro, no luck. :-( Any ideas on how to get this to work with SuSE 9.1?? I really don't want to downgrade to 9.0 just to use the MuVo player.

The MuVo now shows up when I click on the hardware icon by the clock. It says it is available but not configured. I clicked on the configure button and the partioning utility shows up, but sda1 is not in the list of partitions. Now what do I do?

Ardour and Jack in Suse 9.1

Hey everyone I'm running SuSE 9.1 and am trying to get Ardour and Jack to work properly. I used Yast to install Ardour, while Jack just came installed already. I started Jack using the following commmand: $ sudo jackd -d alsa -d hw:1 and Adrour with this command: $ sudo ardour I tried jackstart, but it apparently could not find that command. In Ardour I can record, but the sound is distorted. Also, when monitoring the output of my M Audio Delta 44 sound card, the output is delayed compared to the input. How should I go about getting better sound? Do I have to recompile the kernel? Do I need to add a patch? Thanks for any help with this. Sorry, when it comes to Linux audio I'm a bit of a noob... Ben

cdrw not found by k3b

OK, j said that his k3b worked fine after install and update. So I moved my computer to a fast connection, reinstalled 9.1 Professional from CD (with HD format - to make sure it was clean) and did the online update. No luck. Tried the packman k3b V 0.11.14-0 that j suggested. No luck. k3b just sits there looking and looking, the HD (it's a SCSI) shines its light brightly. Both th CD and the CDRW are available to KDE as drives. Any suggestions? Acceptable voltage levels in Line-In and Mic inputs

9.1 + philips webcam

Hi all, This is probably old but it just happened to me. My logitech quickcam pro 3000 webcam wouldn't work after installing 9.1 when it did with earlier versions of SuSE. After a bit of research, I found out that it was the result of a conflict on the inclusion of hooks from the pwc driver to the pwcx driver into the kernel. I empathize with the creator of the driver and question the kernel maintainer's decision (see http://www.smcc.demon.nl/webcam/) I know that the maintainers are being orthodox and that the NDA agreement with Philips is over. Whenever I see people who donate energy and time being victimized by decisions like these (removing the hooks from the pwc kernel) I wonder if they realize that the kernel maintainers are creating an abusive situation that most people use linux to get away from? Today I am a dissatisfied user. The waste of time (and frustration) in recompiling the kernel with pwc enabled is ridiculous from my point of view. Can SuSE do something about it? Please make GNU/linux a user-friendly solution for those of us who are not very advanced users and care for the 'little guy'. Thank you, Alexandre Castonguay P.S. installation probs....

hi friends... i', having prob with 9.1 installation.... when i installed 9.1 ,i had xp working smoothly on my pc... but when after installation suse got working...it didnt boot into xp... it gave the error which seemed ...somewhat like... hda(0,0)... ...bootloader +1 i checked boot.conf .....n tried entering manual entry for xp... but it didnt work out.... anybody help.... thanx..

CD and CDRW don't work properly

Problems setting up my CD and CDRW. I'm running SuSE 9.1, with a SCSI HD. (which complicates things. I think it puts the ide-scsi on a second scsi bus) After the install, k3b searches and searches. Finds nothing. Does not build its GUI. After I add hda=ide-scsi and hdb=ide-scsi to the System > Boot Loader Configuration > Default Section > Linux k3b will search, and will the build its GUI, but no CD or CDRW is available, and KDE complains "cannot enter folder /media/cdrom" when the cdrom icon is clicked (same for the CDRECORDER icon). I do believe that I am supposed to make link in /dev along the lines of ln -s sr0 cdrom and also one for the cdrecorder. I have randomed around and not stumbled on the magic combination. Scanner problems

I hope this is the right list I have just attached a Canoscan 670U, it's detected by YaST and tests OK. YaST set it to the plustek driver on libusb Kooka didn't acknowledge I had a scanner attached Xsane didn't find it Running KDE 3.3 on updated SuSE 9.1 Pro Downloaded the latest Xsane from Packman. Made no difference. Any thoughts welcome TIA

New Dazzle Bridge

I picked up something interesting at a garage sale. It is a Dazzle Hollywood DV-Bridge. It has analog IEEE 1394, and S-Video in and out, and connects to the computer using IEEE 1394. From the manual, it can convert analog to DV both ways. It also appears able to pass data between devices (I suppose this means between a camera and VCR, for instance) without a computer. I'm not familiar with DV format, but I understand it is uncompressed and needs to be converted to a standard compressed (i.e., .AVI) format. My use would be to convert old VCR tapes and store them on DVD or hard drive. Does anyone have a resource they can point me to? -- If you're right 90% of the time, why quibble about the remaining 3%? -- Vail's Second Axiom: The amount of work to be done increases in proportion to the amount of work already completed.
