ATI TV Wonder PCI, SuSe 8.0 and kwintv

I got kwintv configured properly and it found all the TV stations and sound worked too. The problem is I tried to resize the TV window by dragging one corner and it did resize it. Unfortunately in the process it also hung my machine. After a re-boot, I clicked on the TV card icon to start it and it immeidately hung my pc. Is this a known problem, and how do I restore the windows size so it does not lock up my pc every time I launch kwintv? Thanks, Babu __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hello! ^_^ I migrated to suse 8 from mandrake 8.2 because i needed software for multitrack recording and so on and i can say i really love this distribution. my problem is with my video card: how can i use a matrox g400 in dual head clone with tv support mode? I downloaded the new drivers and matrox powerdesk from matrox site but: - if i use powerdesk i can enable tv support but there is no management for 3d - if i use the screen configuration for XFree 4 i can enable 3d but not tv support - if i use powerdesk after screen configuration for XFree 4 X blows up screaming about no screen supported or something like that and i have to copy the backup configuration on the XF86Config file does anyone know what to do? I was thinking about cutting and pasting the configuration of tv-out from the XF86Config made by powerdesk on the XF86Config made by the xfree configuration utility but of course if someone knows a better way I'm here to learn ^_^ the second problem is: even if i will be able to use 3d and tv out, what about Macrovision???? i mean, i need the tvout to view my dvds and divxs on tv but the macrovision system lets me see only a black screen. Is there a way to remove this stupid and most of all USELESS protection? or at least to make it work as in window$ (it lets you watch divxs on tv but not record them on vcr)? thanks for the help ^_^

Hallo list, I installed SUSE 7.0 for my Jukebox server. Soundblaster works fine, NFS also. No problems here. Even wavplay runs LONG wavs just fine (tested with a 9 MB long wav file) Now regarding MP3s I got a problem. mp3blaster, which seems to apparently have a larger read-ahead than mpg123, plays the first 10 secs (approx) fine and then plays distorted sounds (just as repeating bits of it). How can I get this done? What I wonder is that how I can play WAV finely but not MP3? I got 20 MB of RAM onboard, this should be enough by far... SuSe 8.0 hangs on sound card init

Folks, I did a fresh install of SuSe 8.0 on a new MicronPC Millenia XP+ machine (AMD). This has the nForce 420 chip set which contains the MCP (media & communication processor) and APU (audio processor unit). After Yast2 installs it tells me the sound card was detected and configured just fine. Next Yast reboots my PC to finish installation and that goes perfectly. However, the next time I do a reboot, my PC hangs at the start sound card step. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks, Babu __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Dear all, I really tried hart, but could not find a good solution in Linux to record TV/videos from my BT878 TV Card. The main issue is, which codec and record tool to use. So far my studies had following results: Record Tools: - broadcast 2000 - ffmpeg - dvr (does not compile propperly under suse 7.3: format.h missing - Anybody any hints ?) - mjpeg tools - use lavrec to record. But there is no clear documentation, whether bttv based TV cards are already supported. Codecs: - Divx 4/5 - MPEG 2 - MJPEG Some of my questions are: - Does anybody have found good solution to record directly to MPEG2 or Divx ? If so, which software does the job ? - Has anybody experience with the mjpeg tools, and whether they can be used with bt878 TV Cards? - is there a tool, which can be used to record directly into divx, or is divx kept in a Quicktime wrapper? - Can broadcast 2000 record in divx somehow ? Full screen TV

Suse 7.1 & 8.0 Kwintv is working at about half my screen size. When going to full screen the borders expand but not the picture. I am wondering what modules or configuration will give me a full screen picture. I am using the Nvidia glx drivers. Brian Marr

Hi, When I installed SuSe 8.0 it automatically detected and "configured" my TV card. However, when I tried Xawtv it locked up my machine and I had to reboot.
