No sound from either smplayer2 or VLC trying to play my saved DVB Mpeg4/h264
transport streams. VLC had the decency to clue me onto what was missing.
Installing vlc-codecs from Packman succeeded for VLC, but not SMplayer. Is
there a way to get smplayer to provide clue(s) to what it needs without
installing lebenty zillion conflicting gstreamer, plugin and related packages
hoping the one actually needed is included? Or can someone here tell me the
one or two I actually need for mpeg4/h264 sources?

doesn't help a whole lot, because the copious text there is overlapping
itself as a result of minimum text size in browser combined with incompetent
