I use 'tera term' with the ssh bolt-in... seems to work OK, but resizing the terminal doesn't work that well... Eeek Sounds on Terminal Server.... I wouldn't wan't to run anything other than office on Citrix / Terminal Server especially dodgy educational software written by a bored teacher. Messy Messy Messy. X session on remote client

Hi, OK, I know I could hunt down the info but:- I have an LTSP server running beautifully. I have a distinct workstation not part of the LTSP setup. How do I start the client workstation running an X session on the LTSP server? Thanks! -- Best wishes, Derek

A useful/cool thing to do is set up the chooser (and XDM) to run on the local machine. This provides a list of 'available' machines which you can select and then log onto that machine. I do this on my machines at home so I can use any machine from any machine - isn't networking great... It's also worth noting that if you're already running X and you want a second X server, you will need to specify the 'tty' to run on. Simon.

Imagine a network running almost entirely Linux, but needing to run a few legacy Windows applications. What I would like is for the user (sitting in front of Linux box with X) to be able to click on an icon for a Windows application, causing the application to start running on a Windows (NT) based application server. The program would entirely run on the Windows server, but the screen output would be sent over the network so it could be controlled by the user sitting on their Linux/X machine. Is this possible? With XFree86/Cygwin? Win4Lin server uses a similair approach, although you'd have to have a license, and need to run a separate copy of windows for each application.
