Hello Community
I am happy to announce the availability of KIWI-LTSP 0.7.0, LTSP5
implementation on openSUSE 11.1 using KIWI imaging technology.
Here are the highlights of this update:
* We now have full Nomad[1] support, including local sound, USB/CD/DVD.
* All LTSP components updated to bzr snapshot of 090128.
* LDM now offers password prompt immediately if wrong password is given
This update is thanks to all the hard work by LTSP Team[2] and for
working on getting nomad support in LDM: Proj-Uron[3] team.
To install this release you need openSUSE 11.1 installed, follow the
Quick_Start guide[4] or see this link[5]
Have a lot of fun...

Hi
http://news.opensuse.org/2009/01/29/hp-builds-on-the-opensuse-education-pro…
Tells most of the story already. From my point of view, I just can say
it again:
"Thanks to all for your hard work and patience!"
With Novell, HP, Linkat, Extis and (very important from my point of
view:) more local partners in our "Team" - supporting schools using
Linux will be much easier these days.
FYI: I'm currently in contact with people inside Novell, people from
HP, Jordi from Linkat and people from Extis to "get some balls
rolling". It may take some time - but even if it takes years, I think
it's really worth to get it done...
With kind regards,
Lars

Which image kiwi-ltsp images? use kiwi-ltsp-setup after mounting 11.1
DVD iso at /mnt/11.1 and configuring /etc/sysconfig/kiwi-ltsp
according to your setup.

I have no clue about building LTSP4.2 images, but running LTSP5 +
LTSP4 on the same server should be possible. Document it on our wiki
if you manage to get it going.
Good luck

He guys,
I have added openSIS to our project and configured the spec file
correctly (as far as I can tell)
why does it not appear in the repo or on the RC for 11.1?

Hello everyone,
I have changed jobs recently and I will be working even harder to get
the server portions of our project closer to the dream I have
had for it. I expect that openSIS will become the tool that will congeal
my efforts to compile an ERP for education based on open source
technologies and I am still hoping that the gentleman from Extis will
help with this too. I have to admit that I have been seriously lacking
in my participation and I am hoping that I can turn that around this
year. If it's at all possible could we communicate, at least weekly,
here so that meeting schedules and tasks can be more public knowledge. I
am looking forward to my new openSUSE.org blog and I hope to be able to
detail our work in an effort to generate more publicity.
Again thank you all for your dedication to this effort.

Greetings,
I have spent this week installing the new RC1 candidate and tweaking
things. I am currently trying to hunt down how to see what the swap
file size is, and any other thing that can help improve performance
aside from doubling the memory in the system. That is on the way.
It isn't a huge setup, but it was classic in the ease of setup. Kudos
to all of the team who worked on it.
I still have to get the printers working, but in all, it was a simple
setup in comparison to working with Edbuntu and the other *buntu
releases. I have to document it all over the next couple of weeks,
and I will post it for review when I am finished so I can get comments
on it. After that, you all are welcome to take it over to the EDU's
wiki and post it. That is about all I can contribute to the project.
I also have a question where the client configurations are pulled
from, and any other comments on tweaking individual workstation setups
for KDE.
Warm regards,

hi folks... i'm working on SALOME:
http://www.salome-platform.org
a fantastic project, who doesn't know here some features:
SALOME is a free software that provides a generic platform for Pre and
Post-Processing for numerical simulation. It is based on an open and
flexible architecture made of reusable components available as free
software.
It is open-source (LGPL), and you can download both the sourcecode and
the executables from this site.
Salome Platform:
* Supports interoperability between CAD modeling and computation
software (CAD-CAE link)
* Makes easier the integration of new components on heterogeneous
systems for numerical computation
* Sets the priority to multi-physics coupling between computation
software
* Provides a generic user interface, user-friendly and efficient,
which helps to reduce the costs and delays of carrying out the studies
* Reduces training time to the specific time for learning the
software solution which has been based on this platform
* All functionalities are accessible through the programmatic
integrated Python console
* Create/modify, import/export (IGES, STEP), repair/clean CAD models
* Mesh CAD elements, check mesh quality, import/export mesh (MED,
UNV, ASCII)
* Handle physical properties and quantities attached to geometrical
items
* Perform computation using one or more external solvers (coupling)
* Display computation results (scalar, vectorial)
* Manage studies (creation, save, reload)
well we are working to provide you rpms in our repository, because right
now it is still a work in progress all progess are available here:
OBS:Education:Salome:Factory
repositories links:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Education:/Salome:/Factory/
i'm founding several problems building it, so i wrote also to salome
developers:
http://www.salome-platform.org/forum/?groupid=10&forumid=9&thread=2337&mess…
any help from your side is really appreciate.
Andrea
And best wishes for that holidays!
