Hello Community I am happy to announce that Novell has permitted us to redistribute course wares for 6200 and 6201: http://ocw.novell.com/suse-linux-enterprise-desktop/get-ready-for-open-sour… http://ocw.novell.com/suse-linux-enterprise-desktop/get-ready-for-open-sour… The new rpm packages containing everything of the two courses can be found here: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=courseware-6200-6201&projec… It will be part of next release of openSUSE-Edu live li-f-e DVD. [opensuse-edu] YaST Education module requirements

Hello all, Please see my revised requirements list [1] for the YaST education module. Start of coding for Google Summer of Code begins tomorrow, but I am always happy to receive input and suggestions. For the first revision of the module, I am focusing on desktop setup (e.g. selecting patterns according to the age group using the system, creating student users/groups, and locking down the system). After that is implemented, I will add in server support (e.g. being able to setup an education server and easily install packages appropriate to such a server). Please let me know if you have any suggestions or concerns. Thank you. I am very familiar with GCompris, Childsplay, KDE-Education, TuxMath, Tux Typing and Dr.Geo but not the others. What about * Omnitux * Canta * Piano Booster ? Anyone here tried these applications already? Hello Community Following are the live images that we have, can we have some suggestions for naming them? Name of the image: Suggested names 1. openSUSE-Edu-Desktop : Learner, student edition (Contains Education applications) 2. openSUSE-Edu-Principal : openSUSE-Edu-Li-f-e (Linux for Education) (Most comprehensive distribution for Education, edu-kitchen sink included) 3. openSUSE-KIWI-LTSP-lite : just contains LTSP server for demo purpose, or "just enough OS" to act as LTSP server base install 4. openSUSE-Sugar : OLPC's Sugar desktop We are nearing V1.0, just putting in final touches before we can declare it gold, please test and let us know if anything you need is missing/not working or redundant in there. Hello Community Putting here the conversation we had on the IRC: I am requesting permission to put openSUSE-Edu DVD in the shopping malls here in India, I will take care of creating a quality package and DVDs burnt, we are planning to "sell" the DVDs for about Rs 100/- (USD2). We hear from the Novell Training Services Team and some of our members already use the great "6200 - Get Ready for Open Source: SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop (Book 1) "[2] course from your website. We tried to use your Feedback-Formular[3] as mentioned on the course webpage, but this link sadly did not work (Error: 404). So I like to ask you as VP of the Novell Training Services and hope you can redirect it to the right persons if necessary. The openSUSE-Education team wants to "package" your great book in a RPM and place it on our openSUSE-Education add-on and Live-Medias. So people using openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise can benefit from your great work directly (the RPM package will create desktop entries, so people can easily find the book on their desktops for example).
