Pam_mount on SuSe 9.1

I am trying to install SuSE 9.1 as a workstation in a NT 4 Domain network. The default suse 9.1 install installed winbind etc, and configured them allowing me to log on to ssh with a NT username and password. I now want to configure pam_mount to mount a subdirectory of the unix home directory as the NT home directory. I had configured this on an old SuSE 8.1 box, so I think /etc/pam_mount.conf should be OK. However, having added auth and session lines for pam_mount into /etc/pam.d/sshd I can only get to the stage that in /var/log/messages I see pam_mount: error trying to retrieve authtok from auth code How do I enable pam_mount? Mindmapping now available on OSS. Well, supposedly. 'Cos I've not played with it and don't have any particular reason to do so now that I've given up (forced into retirement for health reasons and family care) my academic pretensions. But when I was doing thesis and journal articles etc. this sort of mindmapping s/w was HUGELY useful to a "scruffy and baroque" thinker such as myself: http://www.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=04/09/10/1946203 I think this is actually an important development for linux as desktop tool for punters, especially for open educational access where people are weak in traditional educational skills due to lack of schooling in formal ways (as a working class youth of my generation I count myself in this category - had to leave school early to bring in necessary family income, self-educated to university level - and still the first from my area to make uni level education - but never acquired many of the skills of "study" which always made things hard, particularly at postgrad level). The availability of mindmapping techniques for organising thoughts for the "ill-educated" is an important part of creating opportunities - e.g. subsistence peasants putting together a legal brief using the village linux box against a local landowners land grab, where organising the thoughts, information and dependencies of argument can be a horrifying task to even highly intelligent individuals unschooled in the mental techniques and disciplines that enable this sort of writ. But even in ordinary circumstances I can't recommend this sort of thing enough to people doing complex writing, I first came across it as Tony Buzan's Tools for Thinking in the early/mid 70s, although the reams of spider-webbed foolscap sheets all over the study floor did get overwhelming in longer writings! However, this sort of thing does seem to be a love it or hate it relationship. I love it. If anyone has a need to use this in earnest, be nice to see a feedback.

That's very kind of you Matt - A copy is on it's way. This is my first "major" LAMP project and I'm still at the development stage yet so lots to do, so I'm happy with KISS if 'cleaver and elegant' is taking too long, I can always come back to the code later. I have also noted that some users talk about implicitly closing the connection - I've never done this in the past - while others make no mention - maybe this is where the fault lays, strange though that it does the correct deletes! I do make lots of repetitive opening of tables where I ought to be using inner-join, but I'm trying to keep the pages fairly simple for future changes and to allow my tech to get his head around it - He's already messed up my naming convention having left me to it over the holiday! :-) It's amazing how this slows down development when a field or even a table has a different name to that expected. We start back next Wednesday, so after we've been using it for a while and decided what alterations are required, we'll publish a description in case anyone would like a copy to play with. I'm sure that there are systems already written, but we wanted to do it ourselves. How share 1 LAN client's desktop/terminal (NOT control) with many clients

Hello from sunny SaiGon. For training purposes, I want to share one LAN client/server's desktop or terminal with many (actually 9) clients on a classrom LAN running SuSE 9.1, but WITHOUT giving the other clients any control of the desktop or terminal being shared, except as explicitly permitted. The ultimate objective is to be able to provide demonstrates of Linux usage and administration to a classroom of students while keeping each student at his or her machine. I've tried using vnc and kibitz already. kibitz is great for sharing terminal/ console sessions with many clients, each in a separate konsole session. I've been able to sequentially share a desktops with several clients using vnc by successively sharing desktops in a chain-like process: client/server shares with client 1, client 1 shares with 2, 2 with 3, etc., and all can watch what is being done on the client/server -- though with successively smaller desktops (as vnc seems to require its own top window bar for each shared session). But the catch is that with both vnc and kibitz, there does not seem to be a way to stop clients from being able to control the sessions at the same time the instructor is providing a demonstration. The best scenario would be if the instructor could selectively turn the mouse and keyboard input off on each client while s/he performs a demonstration and then return keyboard control to the clients when finished. Even better would be to enable the instructor to watch what each client-user is doing in different desktop/terminal windows on the instructor's machine after s/he returns control of their machines to them. Can this be done? If so, can anyone provide information or references to how it can be quickly configured? TIA AD Marshall Kent International Education Centre, SaiGon, VietNam
