MythTV and PVR350

Does anyone have MythTV working with PVR350? There are a number of rpms at:- http://www.astro.uio.no/~oeysteio/apt/suse/9.1-i586/RPMS.olsen/ but it's not clear which are needed. When I try to install the mythtv rpm yast2 says it needs lame which is not available, though I have glame. problems with x nvidia fx5200

After the installation of Suse 9.1 on a amd 64 pc with nvidia fx5200 card i have no graphics. I always get the same message apm_bios not present and (EE) Nod devices detected no screens found I have made the online update to use the nvidia driver but i had no success. Any help ? Thanx

konqueror filemanager problem

Hi out there! This might be a non-amd64 specific problem, but while having it on my amd64 machine and only being subscribed here ... I'll just try to get an answer here. :o) I use konqueror as filemanager most of the time when browsing my filesystem, but yesterday I encountered a problem never seen before and until now not being able to solve it: I can't change the size of the left hand treeview or the right hand directory content freely any more (I am sure some hours before it worked), it is fixed. This is a bit disturbing, because I can't see deeper directory structures in their whole width. I searched several kde and konqueror config files, tried changing some stuff in there, but no success: the columns remain fixed. Remark: this only happened with my own account (which is in fact the only one regulary running in X). Another existing one with previously used KDE and konqueror behaves as usual, and also a newly 'created' KDE setting with the first use of KDE of another existing account doesn't show these fixed columns. Any hints, suggestions and so on are much appreciated, I hate such senseless restrictions ... suse amd 64 and mathematica

Hello, I just installed suse 9.1 for amd-64. Then installed mathematica 5.0 for linux (standard 32 bit linux) but, wen I try to run it, I get the error mathematica cannot determine operating system. and no mathematica... Now, I gess that this is just an environmet problem, since everyboy says that 32 bit intel instructions are understood by the AMD processor. Is there any way one can trick mathematica into believing that it is running in an arbitrary operating system (standard, 32 bit Linux) or any other way to solve this problem? DVD writer not working

Gentlemen, After doing an online-update today to the latest kernel 2.6.5-7.108 default, the DVD writer has quit altogether. Insert the SuSE 9.1 AMD64 DVD disk to make a back-up and K3B signals: "Error, no media found". Debug gives the following message: System ----------------------- K3b Version:0.11.12 KDE Version: 3.2.1 QT Version: 3.3.1 CDs still function normally. System is a stock 9.1 for AMD64 with all upgrades. Tyan K8W, Opteron 248, Plextor PX-708A DVD-RW Janis K.

make of kdevelop project fails because of libart_lgpl_2.la

Hello, I've tried to make a kde project with kdevelop 3.0 on SuSE 9.1. I added the line "--with-qt-libraries=/usr/lib/qt3/lib64/" to the configure options and now I get a make file. As you can see there is already the option "-L/usr/lib64/" on the command line of the libtool, but it doesn't work. On the other hand I can't believe that the tool wants to link a 64 bit program against a 32 bit library. Can anyone help me getting make to accept the correct path? Regards Detlef

AMD64, VMWare and USB

Hello, there seems to be a (known?) problem with VMWare 4.5 and SuSE 9.1 regarding USB-support. It seems to be resolved with newer 32-bit Kernels, after a node under /proc was named back to the kernel default. ( http://www.vmware.com/community/thread.jspa?forumID=19&threadID=6044 ) However, there still seems to be another problem with 64bit kernels. This problem looks very similar, the host-kernel recognizes the USB-device correctly, you can connect it to the guest (in VMWare), but the Guest-OS then only recognizes an "unknown device". How could this be resolved? I have seen some mapping calls in vmmon (which is a module that is built by vmware for the host kernel), but I guess those where mostly added by the maintanier of vmware-any-any (a patch to enable better 64bit support). Should the fixes go into that module, into some kind of LD_PRELOAD library (suggested in the thread at the vmware-site) or should these be in the kernel itself? There is a ioctl32 which I guess is the compat-layer in the kernel, but either the wrapping for this particular call is wrong (perhaps because it includes a structure?!), or entirely missing. We have pretty good 32bit emulation including most ioctls since many years (99+% coverage).
