the answer is :
recompile with -fPIC
put this option (-fPIC) in every Makefile of this project as a CFLAG .
In german you find the docu http://www.pseudonym.org/schauen.html, than look
for mjpeg on this page.

Has anyone managed to get any DVD playing software running properly under
SuSE 9 for the AMD64?
I've got an ASUS K8V Deluxe MB and an NVIDIA GF5200FX video card, for what
I've been trying, with little success, to compile a working version of the
'Ogle' DVD player, but am running into all sorts of dependency issues with
RPMs, and missing library issues compiling from source.
If someone else has gotten this working, I'd be interested in hearing
exactly what RPMs/source files you used and what steps you followed.
Thanks in advance

Marios K. <marios_hellas_23(a)yahoo.gr>
is somebody using an Acer Aspire 1523 WLMi with Suse-9.2
or another 64bit-Linux ?
Is there any problem with compatibility for 64bit ?
Does Linux support the PCMCIA-Slot ?
I need it for the PCMCIA-WLAN-Card Netgear WG511T and a Memorycard.
Or is there any other AMD64 notebook useable for 64bit-Linux and
Solaris 10 ?
does anyone know whether SuSE plans to release new RPMs for 64-bit
postgreSQL now that the 8.0 version is coming out ?
if not, is it safe to use the x86_64 binaries for fedora core 2, here:
or would it be best to build from source? if building from source,
should one use the redhat, fedora 1, fedora 2, or fedora 3 source rpms
? those are the only choices on the postgresql mirrors.
This is a wierd one...the other day I was using my laptop, which has built in
wifi and 9.2, and while connected to my home router and being on the Net I
had a message pop up in a terminal window saying that IRQ 11 has been
released. Boom! My connection is gone. This happened about 20-30 minutes
after starting the laptop. I tried ifdown wlan0 and ifup wlan0 and that
didn't get me connected. I rebooted and everything was fine....for a while,
then the same thing happened. I wasn't in battery mode. I booted into XP and
it ran for a couple hours just fine.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Is there a way to enable 11 on the fly?
I haven't used SuSE long enough on the laptop before to notice this problem.
Usually I'm wired up to the router.
Thanks for the thoughts.
Neuro Logic Systems, Inc.
I just upgraded the kernel via Yast on my dual opteron system. (I'm
using suse 9.2 pro.) Now it gives me a kernel panic. The error is
something like this:
insmod: error inserting
'/lib/modules/2.6.8-24.10-um/kernel/fs/reiserfs/reiserfs.ko': -1 Invalid
Waiting for device /dev/hda2 to appear: ok
rootfs: major=3 minor=2 devn=770
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
The boot process halts at this point.
Did yast somehow give me the wrong kernel? It was the only kernel
available for download and this was the first kernel upgrade I've done
on this system. This system was freshly installed yesterday. Nothing
outside of the suse distro is installed on it.
Two hours of RFM and Google and I can't solve these:
1) I can't print from the gimp -> tons of blank pages. Even after
turning accounting off in /etc/foomatic/filter.conf
2) No print quality choices (plain paper, grayscale, medium quality
color, high quality color, photo etc) on any other application (OO,
The printer is HP Photosmart P1000 which worked very very very very very
well under my old SuSE 8.2 system with absolutely no need to download
anything from the web.
I've got both a foomatic_hpijs queue and a CUPS-GIMP queue which test well.
In a possible answer to #2, do I have to create a queue for every
single print quality choice? I never had to do that before!
Any help from a printing veteran?
Cheers and an Exciting New Year
