Hello all.
When the instant messenger gaimt wants to play a sound, I get the
following errors:
tcp_connect: can't connect to server (tcp:presario.localnet:1036)
unix_connect: can't connect to server
(unix:/tmp/ksocketu-gus/presario.localnet-220c-436955fe)
Could somebody explain what these error messages mean? The file
'/etc/services' indicates that port 1036 is reserved for ntssp (tcp/udp
Nebula Secure Segment Transfer Protocol). I admit I am lost.
TIA for your time.

Same here. Lspci shows it as " 01:01.0 RAID bus controller: 3ware Inc
3ware 7000-series ATA-RAID (rev 01)"
We are also running the 3dm software to monitor the card/RAID set.

I've got one of the 8506 series SATA RAID controllers running the stock
3w-xxxx driver with no problems so far - had more problems finding an
XP64
driver for it....

I supose you mean the 3ware 9500S series controllers.
I couldn't find any drivers for suse 9x 64 for the 8506 series.
Andy.

We also use the 3ware RAID controllers for SATA. And have had no
problems with them.

Hi-
On windows I routinely use nmacrorec to record a sequence of mouse moves and
clicks to automate tasks like saving a spreadsheet as a csv file. Is there a
similar tool for SUSE 10.?

I have only confirmed this on the x86 arch but the 3.1.3-37.6 version of pkg
apache2-mod_python will break a installation of apache2 version 2.0.54-7.1.
The package causes apache2 to emit the dreaded segmentation fault error...
"Apache2 child pid nnnn exit signal Segmentation fault (11)"
replacing mod_python's .6 version with the .4 version restores
functionality.
I do not subscribe to the suse-linux-e list (too many emails) so you'll need
to email me directly if you have any questions. I do receive list mail from
the amd64 list.
Thanks

Several hours of reading the web and I still cannot overcome my density.
I'm looking at a Socket 939 motherboard with one single-core Opteron 148.
The motherboard supports ECC or non-ECC RAM
The BIOS can turn off ECC if the RAM supports it.
What is the kernel's involvement with ECC when it's enabled in the
BIOS? Just reporting errors?
Does ECC RAM incur a performance hit when no errors are detected?
TIA & Cheers
Hi,
I'm looking at some barebones rigs with Athlon64 3400 in the socket
A vendor offers Athlon64 3400 on many boards - some easy to weed out.
Do all the devices on these boards work well with SUSE?
Abit AN8 Ultra nF4 chipset - this board is loaded
Abit KN8 Ultra nF4 chipset - about the same as above, but less RAID, and
less IEEE1394
MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum - loaded but SATA not 3G, no RAID
It bugs me that most boards now offer only 3 PCI slots.
Would you suggest a loaded board that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?
Especially, do you use one with built in 802.11g? Does that present any
limiting issues such as incompatibility with some or many wireless routers?

The driver does what it's told to do. Bernd suggested a
fix for this issue.

Check the AMD, Microsoft, or VMWare site. Linux also
is affected by this issue if you're using TSC and not PMTimer
or HPET.

Anyone have a motherboard that uses the nForce4 chipset and running
under SuSe 9.3? Just want to confirm it's support before purchasing.

I saw that from version kde 3.5 and up, akode is no longer part of
kdemultimedia.
This means than no longer mp3 issues? Just someone install akode from another
repository and mp3 is back to the game?

Hi-
I had video resolution problems with my Samsung 243T on my dual core
system so I tried 10.0 commercial on my
K8T Master2-FAR board with and opteron 144. Install goes ok til boot from
hard drive and I get:
GRUB Loading stage1.5 read error
Anyone else running 10.0 on this board? (This is a lousy board as it only
recognizes 3.6GB or memory and I have 4GB installed)
XP pro and XP-64 install fine on this board.
