Hello all.
When the instant messenger gaimt wants to play a sound, I get the
following errors:
tcp_connect: can't connect to server (tcp:presario.localnet:1036)
unix_connect: can't connect to server
(unix:/tmp/ksocketu-gus/presario.localnet-220c-436955fe)
Could somebody explain what these error messages mean? The file
'/etc/services' indicates that port 1036 is reserved for ntssp (tcp/udp
Nebula Secure Segment Transfer Protocol). I admit I am lost.
TIA for your time.

Same here. Lspci shows it as " 01:01.0 RAID bus controller: 3ware Inc
3ware 7000-series ATA-RAID (rev 01)"
We are also running the 3dm software to monitor the card/RAID set.

I've got one of the 8506 series SATA RAID controllers running the stock
3w-xxxx driver with no problems so far - had more problems finding an
XP64
driver for it....

I supose you mean the 3ware 9500S series controllers.
I couldn't find any drivers for suse 9x 64 for the 8506 series.
Andy.

We also use the 3ware RAID controllers for SATA. And have had no
problems with them.

Hello
Why, after a long time of use, does this daemon ksoftirqd become "crasy" by
using more than 95% of the CPU ?
I got this under SuSE 9.1 AMD64 with KDE 3.2 or 3.3. I get it again under SuSE
9.2 AMD64 with KDE 3.3 and now 3.4.
Kind regards
Pascal
Hi
According to:

.html
You can mix cpus and windows will work. Has anyone done this with SUSE 10.0?

The config for the x86_64 default kernel on suse 10.0 lacks some
entries, if i
compare it to the i386 default kernel:
CONFIG_ATM=m
CONFIG_PPPOATM=m
is there any (good) reason that atm and ppoatm are not supported in the
x86_64 default kernel by suse?

Has anyone managed to make a working /etc/sensors.conf file for a
Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9 motherboard? Nforce4-4X chipset. The sensors-detect
script found the chip(s) alright and loads a bunch of modules
successfully, but the output from sensors is pretty scrambled - two
thirds values out of range. The sensors.conf on the gentoo forum only
works fractionally better.
Failing that, does anyone have a working config for any Gigabyte GA-K8*
mobo with any nforce4-* chipset?
Thanks,
Volker

Hi-
I would like to have the ability to share files between XP-64 and suse10.0
x86-64 on the same dual boot machine and I though I could do this with
ReiserFS on SUSE 10 using Paragon ntfs for linux( http://www.ntfs-linux.com/
but it won't install on 10.0 and I can't find a way to mount reiserFS on
XP. I am addicted to NTFS compressed so fat32 is not a option so I guess the
solution is to install 10.0 with ext3 instead of reiser as there seem to be
lots of ext3 read write options from XP.
Questions
Any other ideas before I reinstall 10.0?
Is reiser better than ext3? (If no why is it the suse default?)
Thanx

Hi,
I spent some time searching the list but i can't find something related.
My problem is with joliet extension.
I use suse 10 (64 bit) and k3b 0.12.8.
I have problem while using joliet extensions and DVD project
When projects starts, shows the warning message that some filenames must be
shorten etc, and althought burn starts ok, after a while it stops before
finishing the burn ( i mean it burns ps only the half data i want) . The
strange thing is that it doesn't show any message. It says burn processe
finished ok (just like nothing happen). But there are only part of data i
wrote.
My guess is that when it comes to the file that must short it's name something
goes wrong there.
This never happend when i try to burn a CD or DVD project without joliet. Only
on DVD projects with joliet.
Actually i was never able to burn DVD with joliet since suse 9.2......

I have a 32bit commercial application (vuescan, hamrick.com) which fails
on SUSE 10.0 64 bit. According to its author, the problem is in the
/dev/sg driver not implementing 32 bit compatibility, and he doesn't
have time to implement vuescan workarounds. This is very annoying, as
sane-based opensource scanning applications are all rubbish (trust me
I've tried, but that's OT here). Using linux32 doesn't help.
Can someone with more detailed kernel knowledge say whether there is
some other workaround for Linux? Is there a fix for the sg devices in
the pipeline?
Thanks,
Volker

Hi-
I would like to auto download some maps of the US from a link like the
following:
http://extract.cr.usgs.gov/Website/distreq/RequestSummary.jsp?AL=39.125,39.,
-105.875,-105.9375
<http://extract.cr.usgs.gov/Website/distreq/RequestSummary.jsp?AL=39.125,39.
,-105.875,-105.9375&PR=0&PL=DGD02H> &PR=0&PL=DGD02H
But I need to auto click the download button. Is there a SUSE 10.0 browser
or tool that will allow me to do this?
Thanx
