[opensuse-amd64] Where do I find a 32-bit version of gtkglext ?

For a program I need a 32-bit version of libgtkglext. I can only find the 64-bit version. [opensuse-amd64] open suse 10.2 not detecting the usb interfaced external hard drive

Hi, I bought a new hard drive and connected it to my laptop through usb interface. suse is detecting the new hard drive and identifying it as USB mass storage, but it is not able to mount the device. I ran the dmesg command and captured the error messages and is in the attached file. I noticed this following error in the error message: "unable to read partition table". I haven't faced any problems with this hard drive in Windows vista. Initially i partitioned this hard drive in windows and then tried using it in linux. since it is giving problems i thought there would be problems with the formatting, so i deleted the partitions in windows and tried using it again as a new device. But it is of no use, the same error persists. Anyone have any idea about this error. Please help me fix this problem. Thanks & Regards, madhan.

Hi folks, if this is a sane related problem (maybe I am wrong ...) what about downloading the old sane-sources from say SuSE 9.3 from i. e. ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/ftp.suse.com/suse/i386/9.3 and build & install that one? Naturally, if the problems arise from a change in the kernel interface this may be a poor recommendation .... [opensuse-amd64] Canon N670U, sane problem

Hi, my system is a brand new opensuse-10.3 (amd64). I have a problem with my scanner (Canon N670U), its impossible to scan something with it. It has been recognized correctly and the correct driver (plustek) is configured. Nothing works, scanimage -T, xsane, and much more, i tried them all, its always the same. The scanner tries to start up with a horrible sound and I have to pull the usb-plug to stop it. Did read a lot, many have the same problem, but no one can offer a solution to it. Did also try to disable the usb suspend function in the kernel, without success, did reinstall, downgrade and upgrade sane, xsane and more, no way. Does anybody out there have a solution? Thanks James, Your suggestion worked. I run the alsaconf command at run level 3 and got my sound card worked. But i did one more change: i added "options snd-hda-intel model=acer" to /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base and "model=acer" to /etc/modprobe.d/sound files manually and then only my sound card worked. [opensuse-amd64] audio device is not working - nforce 610M

Hi, I installed suse 10.2, 32 bit OS on my laptop. My laptop has nvidia's nforce 610M intergrated network and audio device. I don't find any working driver for this device in suse 10.2. In the nvidia's website (http://www.nvidia.in/object/linux_nforce_1.23.html) i found that the audio devices of nforce 430 and later will work on hda-intel driver. I found similar problem has been posted in one of the forum http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Installing_the_MCP_51/61_nVidia_nForce_onboard_s… I followed the steps given in the forum and compiled and installed alsa. ALSA found the device to be hda-intel, so i believe it detects the device properly as per the information given in nvidia's website. The driver has been installed successfully and the real-player and Helix are able to play, but my audio device is not producing any sound. Could you please help me in fixing this problem. Actually my ethernet network card is also not working. I installed the driver given in the nvidia's website and got my device up and run, (only the ethernet card not the sound card), but the kernel hangs on shutdown indefinitely, stating some of the services were not completed. So i thought it crashed the kernel and re-installed the OS again. I did this because in some of the forums it is given that the nforce driver provided by the nvidia is not reliable and even nvidia won't recommend them. And it is recommended to install the forcedeth drivers on our own. [opensuse-amd64] Can I run x86 software on x86_64 openSUSE?

I wonder hoes does openSUSE x86_64 manage x84 applications? I there some sort of compatibility layer? Does this work for all x84 applications? What problems can I expect? [opensuse-amd64] OpenSUSE 10.3 and 32 bit Firefox browser

Since I need a working Java plugin for Firefox, I am trying to replace the 64 bit version of Firefox or install an additional 32 bit version. Is there any easy way to do this through the package manager? I am running under Gnome and couldn't see any selection for the target platform when installing packages. Is it possible to get such a version from a repository? Furthermore I couldn't get the 1.5.0 or 1.6.0 Java plugin from the repositories working with a Firefox version downloaded from Mozilla.org. I have put a link to the plugin into the plugin directory of the 32 bit Firefox, but it keeps telling me on the commandline that it can't start Java properly. Does anyone know what is going wrong here?
