Is it politycaly correct to ask here if the new "Core 2 Duo" processors will
be suported by SuSE 64bit ?
I planed to build a server with AMD 64 x2 processor and / or Opteron 275 but
the announces of the "Core 2 Duo" chnaged my mind. In any cases, I will keep
SuSE on this new workstation but I need the best processor power.
Any clue ?
Thank's

All -
I noticed my KDE screensaver has quit running. I can go to kde->configure
desktop->screensavers and select any screensaver that i want and they all
appear to work from there. I can even right-click my desktop and "lock" my
screen, and the screensaver kicks right in. I've even tried to manually run
the "kdesktop_lock" program, and it starts my screen saver right up.
However, my screensaver does not start automatically after its designated
time has lapsed. I have tried this with and without DPMS enabled, with no
luck. I have it set to start after 3 minutes.
Does anyone have any idea what went wrong? I'm using SuSE 10.1 64 bit with
all of the latest updates, on an AMD Athlon 64, with a NVIDIA graphics card.
Its a compaq r3000 series laptop.
Hi list,
I am trying to mirror the suse 10.1 distro locally to make it easier for
me to install and update all our suse x86_64 boxes.
I have managed to use rsync to get a working mirror of Suse 10.1 which I
used to install on a bunch of x86_64 servers.
I can do this with this rsync line:
rsync -avP --delete rsync://suse.mirrors.tds.net/opensuse-full/ /scratch/
The updates directory for updates to 10.1 don't seem to be in this rsync
module. Does anyone know where the suse 10.1 updates are located and
what the rsync line to mirror it would be ?
I found this on the suse site but can't seem to get my servers using
yast to check for updates there any ideas?
http://suse.mirrors.tds.net/pub/suse/update/
thanks
Rene

Hi there,
I am using amd64 version of opensuse 10.1, and the kde 3.5.3 repositories.
I can not no matter what I do get icon themes to appear in the kcontrol icon
theme manager settings.
I've tried copying the /usr/share/icons dir from working ubuntu installs, I've
tired installing via the kcontrol with tar.gz 'd themes. When I do it the
latter way everything appears to go ok, unpacks into ~/.kde/share/icons/
fine, but the iconpack just does not show up.
What could be the problem here?
Is there any way of manually regenerating the icon caches or setting the icon
theme path manually.
I have thought about just replacing the currently referenced theme SVG-Crystal
with my pack of choice, but I know that it will screw up inheritance among
other things.
Kind regards
JoelW
Did you specify a DNS server while configuring your network adapter before
attempting to do the install?

Hallo Herr Koch,

Hi,
Since today when I start Suse 10.1 a window is opened like on the
picture in this mail.
I can't do anything with it, I can't hide it, close it, I can't choose
anything, can't type anything in the empty fields: nothing.
Because it is on top of all other windows it is a pain in the butt.
Does anyone know what I can do to make it not start when I boot the
computer, I don't want it, I don't need it.
Thanks in advance.
Jan Mussche
I am using SuSE 9.3. I had always had a very good experience with YOU.
However, I am now totally unable to use YOU.
It started with the arrival of the update OpenOffice_org:Security fix for
Macro execution problem. The update was downloaded successfully.
Unfortunately, in the actual installation stage the machine completely hangs
up after 3% of the installation. I tried giving the update a time up to 1
hour. It just remains hang up. During that I cannot abort YOU. THe only thing
that I can do is to manually turn-off the computer.
Several days later, an update for the Linux Kernel arrived. The same problem.
The update process hangs up after 36% of the installation.
Please help with suggestions about what to do.
Thanks for your help
Best regards.
