I built my system with a new power supply. An Antec Sonota with a True Blue 380W power supply. So
that couldn't be the cause of my problems, could it? I'll check the BIOS update when I get home.

Good point, I also installed an adequate Power Supply (450W) and the
largest available CPU heatsink for the XP3000+.
