Hi all, April 16-17 in Antwerp, Belgium, the Linux Open Administration Days will take place. This free event offers a chance for LPI certification as well as meeting and talking to linux sysadmins. openSUSE event on top of "Cristo Redentor"

Dear Paulo, By the way, for some time I was thinking to do an openSUSE event, could be an launch party, in Cristo Redentor. Do you know if Is there any chance to have a nice openSUSE launch party on top of "Cristo Redentor", http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christ_the_Redeemer_%28statue%29, Will be cool to be the first distro to do an launch party in one of the New Seven wonders of the world, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Seven_Wonders_of_the_World#Brazil , I have some posters, and we can order some DVD's, flyers and stickers to make this event happen. What do you think? Is this possible? Strategy voting reminder!

Hi all! In 3 days, the voting for the openSUSE strategy has to be done. We've had only about 1/5th of our members vote and that's not a lot. Now I know we don't have any way to check if members are still very active so maybe most are not. But if you are, please, vote! Find the last article from news.o.o here: http://bit.ly/iB2Dzh And a direct link to voting: http://bit.ly/kZaAC2 You just have to log in with your connect account and VOTE! For 2 years people have been asking 'what does openSUSE want'. We tried to put that in the strategy. Ok, it is not perfect, but that is because we didn't appoint someone to tell us what we want but because we *asked*. And then, yes, you get compromise. Anything bad in there is there either because you didn't speak up (tssss bad bad) or the majority disagreed with you. And that is how it SHOULD work. It is what sets us apart from the other major distributions - we have no dictator or 'steering group'. But democracy also comes with responsibilities - voting! Hi all, We're almost at the end of June. 6 months of 2011 are almost over! We had quite a few events already this year. In May we did an article about some events, and I'd like to do that again. So, for that, could you please send me a picture and a short paragraph for each event you have attended in May or June? Add who was there from the openSUSE team, who helped out... I'll put it in an article (or ask Manu or Isaac Orellana to help again, if either of themn wants). If you already wrote a report which has (links to) pictures, just say so and give me the subject of the mail so I can quickly find it :D Thanks, Jos

Addresses of LUG's, UUG's and Hackerspaces

Hi all, To promote openSUSE and the openSUSE conference, we want to send openSUSE conference posters to LUG's, UUG's and hackerspaces. Obviously we'd have to ask them if they are interested and want/can use some posters. So we need a list of LUG's to contact; and we need to contact them. I have made a spreadsheet: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ap5dbL7kyNzAdEhOV3g0NF… It needs to be filled up with any (L/U)UG and hackerspace we know. If you have a spare 30 minutes and are willing to search the web for hackerspaces and LUGs, add the mail addresses to that list, we can contact them. We ask them, IF they want someting, if they do, we need their postal address. Then AJ will take care of sending. Who's up for adding a few mail addresses? If each of ambassador on this list adds 5, everyone in the world will know about the openSUSE conference :D Please help out! Greets and thanks, Jos

[opensuse] Attention -- Facebook Group Members

{ATTENTION} Please pass this a long to your friends that this might effect/ Sorry for the cross post but I want to make sure everyone knows that we will be updating the Facebook following openSUSE Group. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=762429462#!/group.php?gid=2256834487 Once we update to the new group format, all currently a member will need to rejoin. We currently have over 5,500 members, and there is no away I can re-add all. I want to make sure all know, that the group, isn't going away, but is being upgrade to the new format. This was not our choice, Facebook is archive all the old groups and forcing us to the new format. . While I know many may not be a member of Facebooks or this group. I want to make sure what all know about this change. If you have friends that use the group, please let them know. I will be making this change tomorrow night at 02:00 UTC..
