Hi all,
April 16-17 in Antwerp, Belgium, the Linux Open Administration Days will
take place. This free event offers a chance for LPI certification as
well as meeting and talking to linux sysadmins. There is a call for
presentations here: http://www.loadays.org/content/call-presentations
If you want to go and give a talk there about openSUSE tech - that's be
awesome. If you can't afford to go there due to travel or hotel costs,
let me know, we might be able to work something out ;-)
cheers,
Jos
Dear ALL:
We have 3 workshop this month
Topic: Nagios with openSUSE
for 6 hours training course
*7/10 Taipei

Stathis this goes to you mainly, small events like that in Florina( it
cost us around 50 Euros each attendant) can be covered by us since we
do it for the fun of participation and for the road-trip ;-)
Those money I think should go to bigger events, not that I leave those
events out necessary, but if something is to be decided quick I prefer
consume my time at thinking on how I am going to do a good appearance
and have fun than to think about money. Either you can(have the time
and money) to do it, either you don't.
Anyway I wish that we have only 10-20 active (on events) ambassadors
because of the money and now that some money are available to see 153
really active ambassadors and I promise that I will pay all events I
will attend from my pocket, but I bet that the main reason is mostly
time.
Now it is better to think how to organize things at this point and
then we talk about details and exceptions. We all need to work harder
because we have a great project in our hands and our job is to show it
to the world.
That is for now
Sorry for my probably bad English but I was working the last 18 hours
and I am really tired

Hello,
We had a talk about Greek community.
I remember that we had a talk in the list about a reward to the
ambassador that helps the community.
We were thinking to reward the member that is on fire.
Bryen anounced Ambassador Travel Funding program but this is only for
traveling etc.
Do you have any idea? Can you propose us something? Can you help us?
Thanks

Dear awesome Ambassadors and Marketeers,
We are very excited to announce a new program for our Ambassadors to be
able to travel to important events in their regions and promote
openSUSE. Over the past few months, Jos and I lobbied and recently
received approval from Attachmate to create this program. Each quarter,
the Ambassador Team will be allowed to reimburse up to $5,000 (USD) for
transportation/hotel expenses.
How it works:
* At least one month prior to the start of each quarter, ambassadors
discuss and make a proposal for expenses to events and other promotion
opportunities globally.
* The Ambassadors will determine the long term event strategy; deciding
which events should be supported with these funds. Jos and I will
provide any advice or encouragement needed throughout the process.
* Jos has final approval of any expenses. Ambassadors will be
reimbursed up to 80% of their personal expenses.
* Each quarter is as follows:
August 1 - October 31 (Proposal Deadline - July 1)
November 1 - Jan 31 (Proposal Deadline - October 1)
February 1 - April 30 (Proposal Deadline - Jan 1)
May 1 - July 31 (Proposal Deadline - April 1)
Why we are doing this?
We have two purposes here:
A) Tto empower the Ambassador Team to strategically develop a plan of
action and determine for itself where it can make the most successes.
B) To develop a long-term strategy and schedule. This will improve the
flow of funding in a quick manner and also help us to determine what
materials and other preparations are needed for the entire year.
While this is a quarterly program, we encourage the Ambassadors to think
long term (up to 1 year) and identify as many potential events globally.
This will help us to better allocate our limited resources. (For
example, we are already out of Promo DVDs currently. Long-term planning
would help us better anticipate our printing needs.) It will be up to
you to determine how best to discuss/document/propose actions.
Thanks and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Hi everyone!!!
As you might know, SUSE will sponsor the Desktop Summit Berlin, see:
https://desktopsummit.org/press/sponsors-announced
openSUSE will be there too, and visibly of course! We have people giving
talks, bof's and all that, promoting a variety of technology and in general of
course just participating in making the Desktop Summit great.
As sponsor, SUSE not only is paying money for the DS but also provides some
cool stuff: we have openSUSE beer and t-shirts for the Soccer Match on Sunday
and we bring the SUSE Studio Kiosk with a number of USB sticks there so people
can create their own OS-on-a-stick!
Now the DS team is busy enough so we need to help out a bit. A few people need
to help handling the beer - I'm sure we can get volunteers for that (yes,
drinking allowed as long as you can still carry beer). And we need some help
with baby-sitting the Studio Kiosk at the sponsor table!
I'm sure if we all help out we can do this easily together.
Please add your names to the wiki if you're coming and if you already know
when you can help out, add your name there too:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:DesktopSummitBerlin
Thanks in advance!!!!
Jos
Hello peers,
FYI, Microsoft is extending the Linux Patent deal with SUSE. See on
Slashdot:
http://linux.slashdot.org/story/11/07/25/1854205/Microsoft-Extending-Linux-…
It actually just talks about SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, but I think
it´s counting for openSUSE as well. So, if you´re promoting openSUSE to
some kind of patent paranoids, you can use this to convince them about
openSUSE and Linux :-)
keep on rocking,

Hello,
Kostas and me discussed of a video of sort to promote the OSC
('openSUSE Conference, September)
De : Kostas Koudaras <warlordfff(a)gmail.com>
>> Ok, so my thought is to take small videos of ambassadors calling
>> people to the oSC in their native language
it's a sort of "I'm a geecko" video
So we first need to know if you find this usefull?
If so, we will need to have as many ambassadors as possible making
videos (more on the technical points later)
But we also need reviewer to check the videos (to prevent
unappropriate contents). The best way should be to have a member check
them... given as many langages as possible are wanted
we need also OSC logos, posters, to make a beginning and an ending, as
we need some sort of sound or music (free, of course) for them.
we &lso need a proposal for a short text, to be used as basis,
variants being possible
I send this to multimedia, ambassadors and marketting, but I think
final discussion of how to make and store videos should be held on
ambassador list and potential technicals around the hole video making
on multimedia, so please post on the relevant list
thanks
