Hello Geekos,
As you all know SUSE will participate in LinuxCon Europe 2012
[Barcelona,Spain] [1] with presentations and a booth as well [2].
Apart from SUSE , openSUSE Community will participate with a booth as
well. Furthermore SUSE is trowing money at the event , so it is not
gonna be hard to participate.
Currently we are searching for 3-4 Ambassadors that are willing to
participate at the conference. The Ambassadors that will participate
have to :
a) Assistant the booth during the entire conference (5-9 November)
b) Help with booth installation and organization
c) Inform people who will come to the booth for openSUSE Project.
d) Collaboration spirit and working in group
Furthermore for Ambassadors who live far from Spain and the need help
they can also ask about "Travel Support Program" [3].
Attention!
As there are no many days left (14 days left) before the conference
take place , people who are thinking seriously to participate
at the conference please mailme or respond at this thread as soon as
possible (ASAP).
Thanks a lot

Hi@ all,
Following up the my post before, I felt like letting you know some more,
about what I am doing in supporting newbies.
Besides trying to help people in the suse irc channels, I also help in some
forums. One of it is opensuse-forum.de
For this forum I write a bash script easying the pain of getting the needed
info from newbies. It gathers needed information according to options given.
It checks it's version, gets new version and all test are easily adaptable
with the update mechanism. It pastes result to appropriate paste servers and
puts the resulting link to clipboard, irc or whatever.
One other thing is to give newbies lessons in a shared console.
We are already testing sessions on our server or on my box.
People connect to the server with ssh and join a shared session with "screen -
x -S sessionname".
Additionally we all meet us on our mumble server.
This gives us a very effective way of teaching.
We combine "hands-on" with voice teaching.
We want to implement this mechanism into the official openSUSE "support-chain".
Maybe in of the next incarnations.
All these little ideas stem from my generation project "LivingServer" &
"UniversalHelp".
There is an interview outlining the principles of "uhelp" at
http://archiv.radiotux.de/interviews/2011-09-16.RadioTux.Karl.Thomas.Schmid…
(German only)
At openSUSE Conf 2011 I did a "speedy"- talk about "crowdtranslate"
The idea, also stemming from "uhelp", is easy:
Why don't we use the crowd force to better up the translation?
The user actually using the product is much more accurate in translating the
gui strings.
All we need, is a "context menu" for each and every UIstring letting the user
rate the translation and suggest a better one. This will better the
translation over all.
Sounds easy, but designing the needed server is not.
Work in progress, albeit nearly stopped at this time.

Hello everybody!
Our YODASP openSUSE Beta is finally live, and users can now register
to get free access to the lately released openSUSE 12.2 KDE
environment within the YODASP CLOUD workspace environment.
If you are interested register from the YODASP site [1] or from the
YODASP CLOUD login page [2] and get access to openSUSE 12.2 KDE
systems to try them out.
Please carefully read what you can do and what you can expect from the
openSUSE Beta from the "HOW DOES IT WORK" section on the openSUSE BETA
page [3].
There's a manual approval step in our process, so it may take some
time for you to get access to "openSUSE Beta". Please be patient and
allow up to a couple of days to process your request. We are working
on automating subscriptions.
When your request will be approved, you will get a URL link to access
your workspace environment.
An interesting part is that we have chosen to use the wonderful
ownCloud [4] workspace environment to get access to the openSUSE
systems through the NoMachine "NX Free Edition" technology [5].
For any additional information, visit our site or send a message to
beta.opensuse [AT] yodasp [DOT] com and, please, "Have a lot of fun!"
If you don't mind, please, like us on Facebook !

Hi guys,
as the openSUSE Conference is closing by we are in need of more and more
people.
So we would like to ask you, those whom are going there, to decide what you
could do during that time and assign yourself to some tasks we set up in wiki
[1].
Cheers
Tom
PS: I am responsible for the booth so if you have some urge to tell people how
openSUSE is cool you should join my staff there :-)
