Hi all!
>From Saturday 12th to Sunday 13th January 2013 has took place our
second partecipation to Cerea's fair (VR) in Italy. I and other
members of FSUGItalia have participated at the fair in Cerea (Verona)
presenting openSUSE to the public.
We must start by saying that, as in the past edition, the fair has
been a great success, big participation and queues with about 20000
visitors.
The organization of the fair has given us a great place, a six linear
meters booth in front of the main entrance!
We have set up the stand with 6 notebooks, 3 netbooks, 1 "ST SPEAr320
evaluation board" and 1 "ST-Ericsson Snowball board" equipped with
openSUSE 12.2 configured with different desktop manager.
A large number of people came to ask us about what openSUSE is. The
computers exhibited have attracted the attention of passers, that, in
many cases, were familiar only to Ubuntu.
Most frequent question was inherent to the differences between Ubuntu
and openSUSE and what are the advantages of this second operating
system.
An event with such a big audience is definitely challenging and very
tiring but we have got a great success that has rewarded us for all
the efforts made to achieve this participation. The enthusiasm and
interest of the people involved also the organizers, that have
proposed to participate to the next edition of this fair.
Here http://denebinside.wordpress.com/2013/01/23/report-fiera-di-cerea-2013/
you can find the report (Italian/English) of Cerea's Fair (Italy).
Other useful informations are reachable here:
https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Cerea_Fair_2013
We are editing a video and uploading a photo gallery; as soon as
possible all the materials will be online.

Hello,
Yesterday we had the first openSUSE beer event here in Budapest. There
were a couple of developers and users and as a surprise guest, even a
senior manager from the local Novell/SuSE office joined us. It was a
very nice and interesting evening, mostly getting known each other, but
of course also talking about openSUSE.
One of the topics we discussed was why the active part of the Hungarian
openSUSE community is so small, especially as there were a lot more
active people 5-6 years ago. At conferences and even at the beer event
I'm the only one wearing an openSUSE T-shirt. It would be great, if we
could have T-shirts to have a lot more visibility at events where we go.
Question: is it possible to order a bunch of T-shirts, so the core of
the Hungarian openSUSE community could wear it at different conferences
and events? I think, about 15-20 T-shirts would cover most of the active
people. We plan a release party right after 12.3 is released, and would
be great if I could hand out the T-shirts at this event.
I'll be at FOSDEM, so instead of using the post office, I could pick
them up there and fly them to Hungary.
Bye,
CzP

Hi,
It was discussed in the last meeting that it would be awesome if we
could send posters to LUG's about promoting Google Summer of Code once
it is announced. Victor has already made some promotional posters, and
I uploaded one made by a friend today. Manu has already collected a
list of LUG's on a Google Doc
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AkqpPKm3WjMOdFpqMm5jRUVyc0xkej…
To Add:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dFpqMm5jRUVyc0xkejVRal…
Some of the options are:
1.) Sending the ecopy LUG's ML / Ambassador
2.) Sending hardcopies to the Ambassadors / Volunteers
Lets use this space for discussion ;)

Guys,
It's been a while for me to ask for DVD, I got three talks coming up
over the next month. I like to request 250 DVD and posters and
stickers as well.
Thanks,

Hi,
I'm working to create a list of events around the world that openSUSE
might (want to) go to - with associated info like size and target
audience. This will help us decide where to send materials and/or people to.
And now I need your help...
You're the people who go to events, so if we're going to make a list and
decide how to support them and how important they are, we need to hear from
you! Please, open the google spreadsheet if you can, and spend a little time
to add information about events I've forgotten or correct what I have.
The ones with green are ones I know are properly in there, the ones with red
really need some input - the ones without a color I'm unsure about. If you
know about an event and can add the info, make it green - so others don't
spend brain cells on it ;-)
The numbers mean:
how likely are you to talk to (1=very unlikely - 5=very likely):
* Business people
* Developers
* Students
* Average users
* FOSS knowledge = do the people know what the 'Free' in 'Free Software
means (like they do at a GNOME hackfest for example, score 5) or do
they have no clue (at a generic tech event, score 1)
* How likely are you to bump into international folks (1 = the website
is only in $local language - 5 = everyone speaks English and comes from
5 continents at once)
* How technical are the sessions (1 = how to use LibreOffice - 5 =
kernel drivers are easy)
I hope you have some time for this!! If events are missing, please add
them. Even if you don't have all the details - the more we have, the
better. If I forgot someone who knows many events and might want to
help, please add him/her.

Hugs and lots of thanks,
