Just two simple steps.
Step 1:
# isohybrid xxxopenSUSExxx.iso

Step2:
# cat xxxxopenSUSExxx.iso > /dev/sdx
( /dev/sdx is the usb device)

I teach my student openSUSE linux and use some open source application
this year.
At Ming Chi University of Technology (

Event Details
=========
-Tell us about the event, What did you do?
I got to talk about the openSUSE Project in one of the offical talks.
Official name was "openSUSE, Linux in Green and for all".
So I talked about how to contribute to openSUSE from a non-developer
point of view, showing how the community is organized and how cool it
is to be part of it. Also pointed out about the SUSE Studio and Build
Service platforms.
-How many DVDs taken and distributed?
I used old 11.3 DVDs and T-shirts I had from back then, so it was
around 400 units of DVDs, plus 5 t-shirts.
-How many people were there at the event?
Out there over 1000 people the whole day for many talks at the same
time, I just stayed half of it. Sadly, only 12-15 were in my talk. Not
looking for cheap excuses, but room location was not very accessible,
first round in the morning, install-fest going on, etc. That was not
good at all.
-How did you promote the Event?
I used mostly Twitter and Facebook.
-Any Interesting Story you will like to share with us?
Met 12 years old kid who wanted to install and try openSUSE. He was
very enthusiastic about that, didn't care to delete the whole Ubuntu
system :). He had excellent Linux skills, already knew about
partitions, a few shell commands, software for specific tasks, etc. We
had problems with the wifi drivers, and then added the proper repos
and problems fixed. That was awesome to him. Anyway, his father
promised to get me a beer for the time installing and setting up the
new openSUSE powered system. Hell yeah! :)
-Did you have a booth?
Nop.
-Who staffed the booth?
n/a
-Would you go again?
Definitely.
-What more can you do to make it better?
Well, I was not organizing it, but here are my 2 cents. Event did not
start on time, and there was a sort of miss-information about the
rooms/talks/time, so I guess that is one of the strongest reasons for
having low number of people attending the talk.
I wish there were more Ambassadors/Members around so we can show
openSUSE's power in a massive way.
-Other Comments like Will you blog about the event - and where? Who
staffed the booth? Did you have a talk? Which topic? Would you
organize again?
I didn't have the time to blog about it, it's been almost crazy at
work --that is a lot of tickets to fix--, but I managed to put
together a lot of information about the openSUSE Project myself, and
you know, it's never easy to make it fit within an hour of time.
Most of the people in the room did not know about SUSE Studio, and
they were less curious about the Build Service, as the audience was
not coming from a technical background pretty much. They asked a lot
about the SUSE Studio, things like ways to customize it, details about
the final output for the appliances, how free it is to use, etc. Then
questions about the openSUSE-Educational spin, and how easy it is to
set up a development environment.
I walked down to the install-fest, saw a lot of people taking one of
our DVDs, and they looked amazed when I pointed out it's 32bits on one
side and 64bits on the other. I don't think there is any other Linux
distro providing that coolness. Again, they asked me about the
differences between us and Ubuntu, or why they should pick up openSUSE
instead of Fedora, differences between SLEx and openSUSE, hardware
compatibility, multimedia drivers, and so on. It was a lot of fun to
share time with people in the install-fest area. I wish we had an
openSUSE stand.
I hope this report is OK, I don’t think I am too good at it, so next
time it will be better. Regards everyone!
