Kate and UTF-8

I have set my system to use en_US.UTF-8. As word processor I use "Kate" with "Kedit" as editor. When I save a file either with "save" or with "save as", it is safed with UTF-8 encoding as it should be. If, however, I first safe the file to one destination (as UTF-8) and later safe it to another location with "save as", the system proposes "koi8-r" as encoding. "Kedit" alone behaves the same. Does anyone have an Idea why and how to correct that? Best regards Ulrich Ruess

hotplug suggestion

In the hotplug package there is a /usr/sbin/checkhotmounts file which adds strings in /etc/fstab when a new device is detected. I live in Russia and there is a problem with KOI8-R and CP1251 encodings - if I mount a Windows hdd, I have to specify 'iocharset=koi8-r,copepage=866'. The same thing is with USB-drives my friends carry to me. So I added these options to checkhotmounts. I suggest to make an /etc/sysconfig/hotplug file option iocharset and codepage for hotplug devices. Alex

I have found the mistake. The package ft2demos was missing. Therefore in the script /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.ghostscript-cjk last "if" was not entered. I am not sure, whether this is documented. After the instalation of the package it works. Thanks for your help! I have already installed this package, as the Chinese and Japanese part of the page work. I run again the "SuSEconfig --module ghostscript-cjk", unfortunately nothing like /usr/share/ghostscript/Resource/Font/Baekmuk-Gulim-UniKS-UTF8-H has been created. XFree86 update ruins locale and font settings

I didn't move the texmf folder from its wrong location to the right place because I assumed may be some error would come.
