Hi,
a bit more news on OBS M17N and M17N:Devel repos.
* Sub-pixel rendering
Since the M17N repo is used as the devel-project for FACTORY, we need
to keep the packages there as clean as possible. That is, the packages
should be always (almost) ready to submit to FACTORY.
One issue I found in M17N repo was the sub-pixel rendering of freetype2.
The sub-pixel rendering is (vaguely) allowed for the service like OBS,
but it's not distributable due to you-know-why reasons.
So far, the feature was enabled on this repository because the package
was independent from openSUSE distribution. But, now it becomes a
base of FACTORY, i.e. the openSUSE itself. Thus we have to disable
the sub-pixel rendering on M17N repo, too.
As a workaround, I enabled the sub-pixel rendering again in the
package on M17N:Devel repository. So, if you've been using packages
on M17N repo and miss this feature after the update, try to add
M17N:Devel repository or just grab the latest package from there.
* IBus
I created IBus-related packages, just for testing (read: no guarantee
to work :) I myself tried shortly ibus and ibus-anthy, and it works
somehow. At least, Gtk IM looks OK. XIM seems unstable, though.
Note that since Qt3 IM isn't provided, both Qt3 and Qt4 are done via
XIM. Hence the input on Qt apps might be unstable as well.
Anyway, if anyone can test these packages -- especially Chinese ones,
it'd be really appreciated.
Remember that all FACTORY and OBS are open for community. You have a
good chance to improve anything by yourself! I hope people can just
join in and enjoy.
thanks,
Takashi
