[yast-devel] YCP debugger: prototype

Hi! Since there was interest in still providing YCP debugger, I gave it a shot and here is a first prototype. I did not test it to actually trace a real module, but it provides the basic functionality and I need feedback what needs to be improved, possibly reporting bugs. [yast-devel] [PATCH] Fix setting the IP address and PREFIXLEN via YaPI

Hey everyone :) I noticed that the ipaddr wasn't decomposed into IP and prefix in writeInterfaces so the IPADDR field contained both the IP and the prefix and the PREFIXLEN was left empty. This seems to cause little problems in practice since most of the time both variables are concatenated again, but if you set the IP address using YaPI and read it out again (also using YaPI) you ended up with a string containing an extra trailing /. I think this is why the yast web client code contains lots of .delete("/") in network_controller.rb. The attached patch fixes this problem. I have moved ZYpp repositories to the openSUSE organization at github. Please update your origins: git@gitorious.org:opensuse/$repo.git to git@github.com:openSUSE/$repo.git With exception of libzypp-testuite, which was renamed to zypp-solver-testcase-runner and had data removed, the names were preserved. I am placing a copy of the post here for reference. ----------------------------- Last week has been quite dull after the mid term evaluations. The week started off with me trying to improve the documentation and a home page for it. While the latter went pretty smooth, the documentation is quite baffling. Most of the source code was quite well documented and small hacks with the Doxyfile seemed to produce the proper results. Nevertheless, there were cases (quite a few) where the results seemed out of place. While struggling with the docs, I also started working on the libyui-gtk-pkg package. This package provides the libzypp plugin for the libyui-gtk module. This has been separated from libyui-gtk package so as to make it platform independent. I am nearly there on getting this package to compile. A day or two should be sufficient, I guess. By the end of last week, I switched over to writing examples for YUI in the hope that it would give me further insight into what a developer might expect from the docs. After a few not-so-great ideas, I settled on an IRC client written with YUI. The library to manage the IRC protocol is self-implemented and is complete. At this point in time, it handles only conversations and a single channel. This is very small compared to the span of the IRC protocol. Hello, I have a question why YaST2 Modules configure a System wrong ;) When y config/install a new system I set the HOSTNAME correct ( TEST.EXAMPLE.COM) ;), then I setup the first NIC to the internal network like 192.168.xxx.xxx /24 test.example.prv test for updates and internet? When I setup now CA, LDAP, or Mailserver or.... All modules work with the wrong DOMAIN? hostname -f fetch the first entry from the /etc/hosts, this is in this situation wrong and all YaST2 modules are wrong configured? [yast-devel] libyui/C++ - need more examples for a wizard GUI

Hi, I want to develop a little complex configuration tool in C++ with libyui. The "Hello World" examples is a good point to start from here. But now I want create a wizard GUI with 2 or more pages. I want navigate within pages via "next" and "back" buttons. How can I do this? A service that helps you with debugging Rails-based (and other) on-line applications. This is very useful for servers like SUSE Studio but it doesn't make much sense for SLMS or WebYast - applications with very limited amount of users. [yast-devel] WebYaST GIT repository has been moved to GitHub

Hi all! One of the appliances workshop project was to introduce a new code review workflow for committing changes in the GIT repository. We decided to move to GitHub which provides nice interface to work with pull requests and doing code review there. It also has command line tools so you don't have to use the web frontend at all. Moreover for external contributors it's very easy to fork and improve WebYaST using GitHub pull requests. *** Please, do not use the gitorious GIT repository anymore! *** (BTW does anybody know how to switch the gitorious repo into read-only mode?) Here are steps how to switch to GitHub: 1. Create your GitHub account at https://github.com if you don't have one yet. (Do not forget to upload your public SSH key to the server.) 2. Send your account name to me or to jreidinger, we will add you to the webyast organization so you have commit access right. 3. Checkout the new repositories: git clone git@github.com:webyast/rest-service.git git clone git@github.com:webyast/web-client.git 4. Currently only these branches have been copied to GitHub: master maintenance-opensuse11.4 maintenance-sle11-sp1 maintenance-webyast-1.0 maintenance-webyast-1.1 Feel free to copy any other branch you need (or tell us, will copy it on request). The old repo has too many obsoleted (temporary) branches, copying all of them is not a good idea, we should start in a clean state. 5. Hi, I would like to summarize my progress so far. I am working on the libyui project as mentioned above. WORK DONE -------------------- 1. libyui and all three UI plugins (Qt, ncurses and GTK) have been ported to target systems (Fedora and Ubuntu). 2. The git repository at gitorious.org/libyui/libyui has been removed. The master branches of libyui and the plugins have been ported to gitorious from the YaST svn and can be found at : gitorious.org/libyui/libyui-master.git gitorious.org/libyui/ncurses-master.git gitorious.org/libyui/gtk-master.git gitorious.org/libyui/qt-master.git 3. Builds now make use of OBS. The download repository can be found at : http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/nbprashanth/ . Currently build targets are Ubuntu (10.10 & 11.04), Fedora (14 & 15) and Debian 6. 4. GTK plugin no longer has libzypp as a dependency and can hence be ported. 5. Due to CMake issues on Ubuntu 11.04 with the GTK CMake module (Bug report : https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cmake/+bug/751940 ), builds using CMake have failed. Moreover, the default install location for gdk-pixbuf on F14 and F15 are different which caused the GTK plugin build to fail on F14 as well. 6. I have converted the GTK plugin to use autotools as opposed to CMake. This has made it compile successfully in Ubuntu 11.04 and Fedora 14. 7. Documentation for libyui is now online and can be found at :http://doc.opensuse.org/projects/libyui/HEAD/ . This is an initial version and improvements may be expected in near future. The absolute path issue is now fixed. 8. Examples, update for YUI and full GsoC reports are also updated on my blog which can be found at : http://nbprashanth.wordpress.com/ . My GsoC reports can be found on the blog as well as the yast ML. 9. Patches for minor bugs such as "long long warnings" have been made. Not integrated upstream yet. 10. A sourceforge page has been created for libyui. It includes a bug tracker, forum and a mailing list. The version control system still continues to be git at gitorious.org/libyui. The sourceforge page can be found at sourceforge.net/projects/libyui/. 11. If anyone happens to test any of the YUI packages at OBS and finds a bug, please file a bug report at sourceforge. 12. The documentation lacks a main page/introduction. This has been fixed and will be updated in the upcoming week. WORK LEFT ------------------- 1. Documentation needs to be refined and improved. 2. libyui lacks a webpage at sourceforge. This webpage should give basic information as well as a few tutorials on libyui. Screenshots and links to external resources would also be found there. 3. A few small examples using libyui need to be put up. 4.
