[yast-devel] WebYaST - new home page!

Hi all, I'd like to announce new WebYaST home page, which is available here: http://webyast.github.com/webyast/ This should be a new home page for WebYaST project. It's focused on users who do not know WebYaST at all and are interested in basic features (what it can do, how it can be installed, etc...) This should be kind of "selling" or "marketing" page for WebYaST. We still keep wiki (http://en.opensuse.org/Portal:WebYaST) as the main technical resource (documentation, implementation details, advanced topics...) and just link some interesting articles there. I'm interested in your feedback, hints, improvements... Thanks in advance! [yast-devel] WebYaST - new demo appliance

Hi all, part of my Hackweek project was improving WebYaST demo appliance in SUSE Studio. The new demo appliance is available in SUSE Studio Gallery here: http://susestudio.com/a/N3CQ8b/webyast-demo The point of this appliance is to allow users easily try WebYaST and play with it. The appliance can be used as a LiveCD or LiveUSB stick in a physical or virtual machine. It can be also started directly in web browser (in Studio testdrive), no download, burning etc..! Hi I was writing a custom SCR agent for reading popcorn.conf configuration file which looks like: [settings] popcorn_enabled=1 post_server=localhost:5000 post_uri=/ hwuuid_file=/var/lib/dbus/machine-id What should be the correct regex for "comments" and "params" here? [yast-devel] YaST2 SSSD & nscd question SLES 11 SP2

Hello, I installed a SLES 11 SP2 and tested the new sssd function and found only questions ;). 1: When I select sssd in YaST2, afterward I have warnings for nscd for caching passwd and group (?), this is enabled in nscd config after starting sssd, but should be disabled (?) like Documentation. Or have sssd now the functionality to replace nscd full (?) but nscd is not stopped? 2: when I disable the sssd function in YaST2 the program is not disabled in the Runlevel? I have to stop this manual, I can't say is the config correct disabled (reverted). Is this for Bugzilla or...... -- mit freundlichen Grüßen / best Regards, Günther J. Hi, I was considering starting a TUI and GUI python app, and came to read about the marvels of libyui. Seems great, but... - Is there any tool like Glade for libyui? - Or at least some documentation about writing the UI in XML or JSON? - Also, does python-yui work with python 3? I promise I searched a lot, but cannot find anything. [yast-devel] YaST in GIT and keyword expansion

Hi all, in SVN we used keyword expansion for expanding tags like $Id$ in file headers. The problem is that GIT does not support keyword expansion and it is not recommended anyway. The only way is to use custom scripts. See https://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/GitFaq#Does_git_have_keyword_expansio… I think we should just remove the obsoleted keywords, but what do you think about it? [yast-devel] Popcorn YaST integration

Hi, Thanks for the comments and suggestions on my previous post on the list[1]. For context: I'm working on a GSoC project on Popcorn[2] with Ionuț as my mentor. Popcorn will gather statistics determining popular packages in openSUSE, and later for other distributions as well. It's time for me (on my GSoC project timeline) where I should start working on the integration, so I really need your help to finalize the details. Two points of integration have been proposed(in the previous thread): o During installation (primary) o Configuration menus of YaST(to change the yes/no option later) During installation, two check boxes for smolt(hardware profile) and popcorn(packages installed) could be presented together to the user. To collect reasonable amount of data for the project to be useful, I'd like to propose default: on with the appropriate explanation for sending anonymous statistical data.
