No compose characters possible with asian language setting

Hello! I'm currently using SuSE 9.0 pro for both german and japanese input. This works fine so far, by setting the variables LC_CTYPE to ja_JP.UTF-8 and LANG to de_DE.UTF-8, but nevertheless I experienced a problem: With the LC_CTYPE set to japanese and an input method running (currently kinput2), I cannot type european language compose characters any more - at least the ones I used to produce with two sequent keystrokes ( ´ and e for é for example). The rest of my (german) keyboard layout works all fine, and with LC_CTYPE set to german, é's, à's, ô's, etc pose no problem, but then, of course, I cannot input japanese... This problem seems also to be existent for other language settings that use an input method, I tried it out with a friend who uses chinese input (also on SuSE 9.0 pro). We (my friend and I) are currently writing an article about asian language input with StarOffice/OOo, so we would really appreciate any help or hint concerning this problem. Thanks. Marcel Boeing

Joining the translators

Hello everybody! I'm a member of Linux user group from Slovenija: http://linux.prinas.si. Years ago the group begun it's work as a group of Mandrake Linux users, but with time many users of different distributions joined us. We are translating Mandriva Linux, which has been translated 100% in its last two versions. As SuSe is getting more and more popular among our members we would like to translate it commpletely as well. But it is not that simple to find the needed connections on the internet as it is for Mandriva: http://www.mandrivalinux.com/l10n/translations.php3 Can I get the instructions how to join the translators, pretty please? SCIM and TCL/TK

Hi, I have a problem with SCIM and TCL/TK. I have an application that does not get any keyboard events if SCIM is active. I think it is based on TCL/TK and the reason might be a bug described here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=905830&group_id=12… Are there any recent rpms that incorporate this fix? Or is there something else I could do? xemacs and chinese-py-punct

Hi, I have a Chinese coleague, who uses emacs/xemacs. We found out that chinese-py is his favourite input method. We managed to type Chinese words in emacs, but emacs does not display the utf-8 characters correctly after the file is reopened. (If I do not add anything, it displays backshlas sequences, if I add a comment in the header saying that it is utf-8, it does not display all of the signs). If I open the file in xemacs everything is fine. Also copy & past works and I can use the application I want to use with Chinese input. However the xemacs that comes with Suse 10.0 does not know the input-method. It gives the chinese-py-punct as default method, but typing enter results in an error. Do I have to install additional files? I installed all packages that seem to be related? I searched the web, but did not find anything on this issue. Thank you very much for your help! Converting problems ps --> pdf for Korean postscript Files

Dear Mr. Fabian, I wrote some postscript-Files under SuSE Linux 8.0 and convert them to pdf-Files using gs. If I do the same procedure with the old ps-Files under SuSE 9.0 the Korean characters look broken in Adobe Reader 7.0.1 and are wrong positioned. On the other side the ps- and pdf-Files look okay using gs or kghostview. I don't think there is a problem with Adobe Reader 7.0.1 because my old pdf-testfile from SuSE 8.0 version looks okay. Adobe Reader shows in the Document Properties Window: Munhwa-Regular (Embedded), Type: Type 1 (CID), Encoding: KSC-EUC-H. I think this is okay. Here is short ps test script with the word Hangug written in Hanja. The created pdf-File shows problems with Acroread 7.0. %!PS-Adobe-3.0 /MR-15 {/Munhwa-Regular-KSC-EUC-H /Font findresource 15 scalefont setfont} bind def 40 780 moveto MR-15 <f9dbedae> show showpage Everything works fine using Japanese or Big5 ps-Files but not for Korean one. Is there any solution to solve the problem? Also the use of Adobe-Korea-Fonts is not possible.
