Hi Pierre You could redirect the out or input to another concole. NFS is slow, and FTP doesn't work

Hi folks, I thought I'd ask for suggestions / comments about my recent experiments. I implemented an installation server for my organization using an SLES9 box (with SLES9 as the target installation). The server is up and running using HTTP (which works great), but I tried all other sources first and I had these problems... 1. I was unable to get FTP to work as an installation source. Target machines got a red box in yast complaining about "passive mode." I'm sure this is my ignorance in FTP, but I did try a few things and was unable to get it to work. Any thoughts? 2. I was unable to use TFTP as a source. I think this is actual limitations on the TFTP protocol, but I'm not positive. 3. NFS worked, *but* performance was abysmal. I did the testing on a private network, and I find that the apache2 server install is *very* fast on that configuration, but NFS is surprisingly slow -- slower (I think) than CD-ROM. Any thoughts? That's great, Andreas, but you are specifying a "minimal" install, so perhaps you shouldn't be doing anything with graphics in the first place. The services section of the xml has been broken for some time. I don't know whether there is a patch which fixes it. I got around this by supplying the following in the configure block of my xml. AutoYaST-Problem after first reboot

Hi, I try it in english, hope its ok :-) I have a problem with my AutoYaST-Installation. After the first reboot yast ist starting and everything work fine. After the post-install-script (the last step) yast is starting with "Yast Initialisierung". In the upper right corner of the screen appears the "S" an after a CR on the next line "aX>" appears (the word "SaX>" is written over the blue screen of yast). At this point the installation the stops. I've tried to type "exit" and after 2 times typing "exit" and pressing ESC the installation is going on with the next step "Bildschirmeinstellungen". The rest of the autoinstallation is working and after 1 minute I have a login-prompt. How can I fix the problem with sax? Disable auto reboot after initial installation?

Hi there, I'm wondering how to disable auto reboot after the initial phase of installation is completed. In chapter 4 of the docs it states: "Change starting from SUSE Linux 9.1/SLES9 The reboot property in the mode resource was used to force a reboot after initial system setup and before the system is rebooted for the first time. Currently after initial installation all systems must reboot, which makes this option obsolete." So are there any methods to turn off the auto reboot? I tried to enable the "interactive_boot" as well as "confirm" options in the yast xml config file but seems it can't prevent automatic rebooting. Any hints? Thanks in advance! Best Regards,
