Integrate a 3rd party module into an autoyast configuration

Dear list, we have some machines that require a vendor supplied kernel module for their RAID controller. How could we integrate such a module into an autoyast installation? SWAT (Samba Web Admnistration Tool) installation with Yast2, SuSe 8.2

Hello. I have installed the Samba packages supplied with SuSe 8.2, using Yast2. Samba works fine but SWAT is not usable. When calling http://localhost:901 from Konqueror, the answer is : Impossible to connect to localhost (port 901). Looks funny because I had no problem with older version of SuSe. The various files involved, /etc/inedt, /etc/services look fine. What should I do to obtain SWAT ? Thanks -- Yvon Nedonchelle

With suse 8.x I used: /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/create_package_descr to update an install tree with latest patches. Has this utility been removed? eric

strange behaviour yast2 in graphical mode

Hi, When autoinstalling I have the strange situation that yast2 crashes out of the install when it is running in graphical mode. In a few cases I got even a kernel panic! If I install the machine in text mode everything is fine. Has someone got a clue? Q: Installation repository from SP3 CD images

Hi, does anyone have a detailed instruction how to build an installation repository for SP3 (2 CDs - which is which???) using the ISO images directly, i.e. without copying everything to a filesystem? I can't see how the available documentation applies to the set now... TIA! Softmodem Installation

Dear fellow SuSE fans (sometimes a little bit victim!!) I have a Dynalink 1456 intern PCI modem, a conexant SoftK56 data, fax, TAMPCI modem with Vendor ID = 127a and Device ID = 1025 on my computer. After installation of SuSE 9.0 and configuration of Kinternet, as given below, and configuration of the modem with Yast as ppp0 I could not make contact with my provider. No way! I tried to install hsfmodem-6.03.00lnxt03091800free_k2.4.20_4GB-1suse-i586 from Linuxant but got the message "existing driver modules found under /lib/modules/2.4.21-99-athlon/misc/" where I found 8 files hsf*.0 In information center I got the following: PCI 00:07.0 Communication controller Rockwell International HCF 56k Data/Fax?Voice/Spkp Subsystem: Rockwell International HCF 56k Data/Fax?Voice/Spkp(w/Handset)Modem Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 10 Memory at dffe0000 (32-bit, non prefetchable)(size = 64k) I/O ports at c 400 [size = 8] Capabilities: <availble only to root> Meanwhile a understood from the Linuxant site that my modem could run under a hcf or a hsf driver Can anybody tell me what to do? hallo, i try to use autoyast to intall SuSE 9.0 Professional. SuSE 8.2 works fine, but 9.0 i get an error: net activation failed. i wont boot from cdrom, use dhcp to configure network, and install from network. - boot from cdrom works - dhcp configure works - installing over network fails i try this with different PCs with different network-cards on console 3 i see following messages Sending DHCP request to eth0... ok. eth0 aktivated Starting portmap. OK, going to mount 10.28.232.211:/tools2/dist ... NFS mount ok Ok, that didn't work; see if we can activatee another network device... No further network cards found; giving up. ... net activation faild ... yast rpm list

Hi, I'm looking for a way to do an ALT+F2 while the machine is installing and view a list of RPMS that YaST2 is going to install. I can look at /var/log/YaST2/y2log and see what RPMS are currently being installed. (if I tail -f it) or there was another file I found that would tell me what has been installed as well in a more readable list, but I haven't been able to find a way to see a list that says: Ok, I'm going to install these 400 RPMS. While looking at the code, I found a few files that seemed like they might have helped like a "remain" file but it never gets written anywhere. I know it says it in the autoyast file, but if I don't explicitly say which RPMS and use the Minimal+X11 I won't know what it's installing unless I parse the other files. So can anyone tell me where I can find a list in there that says "These are the 400 files that I am going to install:..." ? Thanks, Vallard

some services dont't start after installing a system with autoyast

Hi, i`m new in working with SuSE autoinstallation system. I want install a SuSE Linux 8.2 on a system without floppy/CD/DVD. I boot from an USB stick and the packages to install are on an FTP Server. The installation works fine but i have one problem. I have written a custom package named mesuNET, which needs mysql for correct starting. Although, i wrote the the commands for starting the services mysql and mesuNET into autoyast.xml, mesuNET was not started automatically after installation. .... <runlevels> <default>5</default> <services config:type="list"> <service> <service_name>mysql</service_name> <service_start>3 5</service_start> </service> <service> <service_name>mesuNET</service_name> <service_start>3 5</service_start> </service> </services> </runlevels> .... mysql was started correct, mesuNET was completely installed but the links in /etc/init.d/rc3.d and /etc/init.d/rc5.d are not present. Is it possible that autoyast tries to start the services (listed in autoyast.xml) in alphabetical order?
