Hallo,
I think you should use the mailingslist suse-linux-e(a)suse.com.
This list is only for questions about the tool autoyast.
Or, I ve have problems to write in english, use the german linux-newsgroups.

Subject: Re: [suse-autoinstall] USB Floppy problem during Install
I have a 505 and it is a little harder to install than other systems. I
have found that the best way is to borrow/buy the sony PCMCIA and boot
from CD then load network drivers and install off the network. I too
have had troubles with the USB floppy modules disk.
There might be suse workaround for the USB floppy modules disk problem
-- but you should probably ask the SLE (suse-linux-english) list rather
than the autoinstall list.

Hello All,

Thanks.
Ich komme einfach nicht mehr weiter. Ich habe Suse 8.0 Professional, leider
keine Handbuecher.
in c:/temp. Filesystem: NTFS mit win XP. Beim booten waehle ich Option
"rootimage erzwingen".
Nach div. Schritten bekomme ich eine Uebersicht ueber die
Installationsdauer, leider wird immer nur
die ERSTE CD rom installiert, danach springt er gleich weiter. Ist das
normal ? Werden die restlichen
CDs erst nach dem 1. booten installiert ? Zumindest bekomme ich keine
Fehlermeldung. Waehrend
des ersten bootens bekomme ich folgende Meldungen:

I'm running /usr/lib/YaST2/bin/create_package_descr on my patched suse 8.1
install tree.
It seems to be almost working properly now.
One problem -- it somehow does not put a certain important +Prv item in the
suse/setup/descr/package file. This causes the installer to complain about a
dependency problem.
I manually added an entry for suseseach.cgi from the susehelp updated package.
Either their was a problem in the susehelp update or there is a problem with the
create_package_descr script.

Hello All,

I've tried this on suse 7.3 and suse 8.1
I found some guy that patched his boot 7.2 disk to work with 3com 59x, but unfortunately, thats not a 575 :/
Anyway, is there a SuSE network boot disk or some other quick solution that would help me get this installed? I found a mandrake one and attempted it and it worked sweetly, but ive been using suse for years now and I don't want to switch over this problem.
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks.
Hi,
I'm having massiv problems with software Raid 1.
1.: There is no way to set it up via autoyast2 menu.
2.: If I set it up manually it doesn't work.
Does anyone have a working example ?
Next thing is:
On some computers Software Raid 1 is working without problems (manually
installed); on the next machine there is no boot.
Any help is appreciated.
cheers
frank

first of all, i want to say how great this package is. I can install my
servers in 15 minutes. ( i have 15 servers to install in the future ) Great
job!
There are however a couple of small problems that persist. I am still using
the suse 8.0, version of auto-install is : yast2-module-autoinst-2.5.27-1.
I defined the ldap-client ( i know, there were a couple of mails about that
before, but there was no mention about suse version, and i tried it with
ldapclient, with no results however). Maybe you an give me an example how a
correctsetup should be.
Another thing is that the runlevels that are defined in the autoinstall setup
don't seem to correspond with the runlevels on the freshly installed server.
That's anoying.
There must also be a confusion between language and keyboard. I use a 'ducth'
keyboard ( azerty, i know, very annoying, but its my client who uses it ) and
'dutch' language, however, on the server i always have to readjust the
keyboard.
So, these are my 3 problems, minor ones, but would be nice if they could be
solved.
Thanks anyway, and again, wonderfull package!!
I include my control file hereafter : ( i left the chroot script out, too
long! )

Hi all. I'd like to be able to specify what the filesystem options are from
the control file. I looked through the ycp files and I see that apparently
this was started on but not finished in 8.0. I see that the 8.1 version
does allow you to do this (according to
http://www.suse.de/~nashif/autoinstall/). However, I'm using 8.0. Is there
anyway for me to do this without upgrading to 8.1? Can I just install the
8.1 yast2-(config|module)-autoinst rpms or will that cause problems under
8.0?
Thanks,
Robert
