Hi,
I've set up SLES9 as a PXE/NFS automated build server, to build SUSE 8.2
workstations with all the latest patches applied. It was working fine last
week, and indeed has been for some time, but today the build fails when it
tries to install the kernel. Up to that point the install seems to be going
smoothly.
The log (/var/log/YaST2/y2log) just has the entry "rpm failed, message was
:" (no message)
I then tried to manually install it from the shell to check the rpm output:
# rpm -ivh /long/path/to/k_deflt-2.4.20-127.i586.rpm
failed to open /var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm: Read-only file system
error: cannot open /var/lib/rpm/packages.rpm
/var/lib/rpm is an empty directory at this point, whereas packages.rpm is
actually under /mnt/var/lib/rpm.
Can anyone shed some light on this? If you need more information let me
know.
