[yast-devel] Automatical built of YaST packages

Developers, I'm happy to announce that YaST packages are built and submitted automatically now. For every change of a YaST package located in the git repo's master branch ( https://github.com/yast/ ) the package is build automatically. On success it's submitted to YaST:Head in the build service, otherwise an email on yast-commit(a)opensuse.org informs about the failure. Packages in YaST:Head still need to be submitted to Factory manually because we want to make sure not to break Factory by this automatism. Im passing this on as suggested below. It regards an accessibility regression I discovered in YaST for Opensuse 12.3, GNOME edition. I use the orca screen reader to render the GNOME display as synthesized speech. When trying to use YaST, I find that Orca is silent when I focus on one of the panels, for instance, Software Management; any panel shows this behavior. Speech for other applications is not effected. [yast-devel] Disturbing branches at GitHub (broken/...)

Hi, You've probably already found out that there are a lot of "broken" branches at our GitHub repositories: For instance: * upstream/broken/master * upstream/broken/openSUSE-10_0 * upstream/broken/openSUSE-10_1 * upstream/broken/openSUSE-10_2 * ... AFAIK, these branches were left there from the unsuccessful migration from SVN to GitHub. So, what are we going to do with them? From my point of view, they are not needed and just disturb there. [yast-devel] Install RPMs in "second stage" via printer_proposal.ycp

Hello, printer_proposal.ycp from yast2-printer is run at the end of the installation during so called "second stage" to do automated print queue setup. I am thinking about to also install matching printer driver RPMs as needed for locally connected printers (i.e. USB printers) via this printer_proposal.ycp run. My questions are: - Is it possible to install RPMs during "second stage"? In other words: Are the right package repositories available in "second stage" so that a YCP call like Package::Install(package_name) will work correctly? - Is is allowed to do this? - If it is possible and allowed, how can I trigger that a package gets installed without any user interaction? No info popup, no user confirmation popup, no license confirmation popup - only silent operation with a return value that indicates whether or not the requested package was actually installed. [yast-devel] starting getty before firstboot

Hi, Is there a way, if yes how would I do it, to start getty prior to firstboot kicking off? I would like to have a firstboot procedure in a container while starting the container as a daemon, i.e. lxc-start -n NAME -d I tried to set the CONSOLE variable in /etc/init.d/boot to /dev/tty1 instead of /dev/console but that didn't help. When I start the container "interactively" i.e. lxc-start -n NAME and let the container take over the terminal I am in the firstboot process works as expected. However when I start the container as daemon and then try to "connect" via lxc-console I end up with the following # lxc-console -n NAME Type <Ctrl+a q> to exit the console What's the magic incantation to make this work? [yast-devel] Solution for bug #798348

I have been studying in yast-network the module Lan.ycp to find a solution for bug #798348. The problem is in line 570 which reads: Service::Reload("network"); This results in a bash command: /usr/bin/systemctl reload network.service However reload for network.service is not available. The solution is already in the release notes for 12.3. The network must first be stopped using: /usr/bin/systemctl is-active network.service && /usr/bin/systemctl stop network.service Depending on a change in the management method, Traditional or NetworkManager NetworkManager.service must be disabled or enabled. After that the network.service must be started. I could not find how to know if the method has been changed when arriving at the above call and in what direction. When the direction of the change is passed as a parameter in this call the changes in Reload are obvious if Reload is not used elsewhere. Otherwise a new routine needs to be defined with the above content. -- fr.gr.
