[yast-devel] New CWM modul for unified table manipulation

Hi, I add to CWM module CWMTable. This unify using table renderer of entries and its standard manipulation operations. At first Why you should start using it? Because now each yast module which uses table have different behavior and it is confusing to users. Also adding new features for all tables is not easy. E.g. I find confusing why in yast2-bootloader after double-click on cell it start edit dialog and in yast2-sudo it doesn't. Also handle up/down buttons is very incosistent (sometimes it is auto disabled, sometimes not). So what features provide this little module? - optional add/delete buttons - optional edit button - optional up/down button - optional additional button - each button have separated handle function except up/down which have one - up/down is automatic enabled/disabled on first/last cell (this doesn't work as good as expect and need little debugging) - up/down handle functions gets also index and is ensured that is called only if possible move item up/down (this prevents bugs) - double click on cell call edit handler (if enabled) - wrapper for whole table enable/disable (with all buttons) - better readable code - same ncurses shortcut for Add,Edit,Delete F3-F5 disadvantage - can place only one unified table in dialog because it has hard-coded id TODO: - context menu also for additional button - allows another widget instead of additional widget - document it Example usage is attached. [yast-devel] Add-On CD to target multiple platforms?

We would like to have a single Add-on CD for sles10-i386, sles10-x86_64, sles11-i386, and sles11-x86_64. Is this possible? [yast-devel] Is yast2 qt software manager the same in 11.1 and 11.2 alpha?

Hi, I have had https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=478041 marked as a duplicate of a bug against 11.1 :- https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=474331 which doesn't look the same to me especially since the lack of column sorting only appeared with me after updating 11.1 to factory and the new qt ui. Am I right in my assumption that the above bugs are not the same? [yast-devel] Webpin is dead, long live software portal

Hi All, Since not many people were testing software portal in its test environment it has now been deployed live and has replaced webpin. Hopefully this will help find problems more quickly :) The webpin web, command line, and yast clients are now backing onto the software portal and have been doing so for the last couple of days. No re-configuration of the clients is required. I have fixed a couple of reported issues hit by webpin clients already but please let me know what is broken. There is also a bugzilla component (bnc->opensuse.org->software portal) under which you can report bugs. Also go have a play with the new software portal web interface http://software.opensuse-community.org. Those of you who tested the test instance should already have working accounts. Otherwise register with the link at the top to have access to add comments/screenshots etc. e-mail me if you want permissions to edit applications & what packages are contained in each application. Hi, I want add to bootloader browse button which should browse in device under /dev (for dump device for s390). I try AskForExistingFile but it doesn't shown any device. How should I use same looking dialog (as for files and directories), which browse devices? yast2-qt has support for context menus now. Context menus are supported by almost all UI frameworks and most people got used to them. Therefore it’s high time to provide context menus in the YaST Qt UI as well. yast2-qt-2.18.6 offers this feature, packages are available in my build service repository. In four simple steps YCP programmers can benefit from this new feature: Step 1: Create a widget and tell via `opt(`contextMenu) that a ContextMenuActivated Event should be emitted when the user right clicks the widget: `SelectionBox( `id(`sport), `opt(`notify,`immediate, `contextMenu), "Open a context menu:", [ "Item1", "Item2", "Item3" ] ); Step 2: Wait and analyze events: event = UI::WaitForEvent( ... ); ... if ( event["EventReason"]:”" == “ContextMenuActivated” ) ... Step 3: Open a context menu. The argument of OpenContextMenu() describes the menu structure: UI::OpenContextMenu( `menu( [ `item(`id(`folder), "&Folder" ), `menu( "&Document", [ `item(`id(`text), "&Text File" ), `item(`id(`image), "&Image" ) ]) ] )); Step 4: Analyze the returned `id and trigger an action. An example called ContextMenu.ycp is included in the package yast2-ycp-ui-bindings. Usability A Context menu provides shortcuts to actions for a certain widget or item. This features improves usability when it’s used properly. Application programmers should avoid making certain features only using context menus because users might not find them. Please keep in mind that YaST ncurses doesn’t provide context menus. Each operation that is only available via a context menu is useless in YaST ncurses because the user cannot select it.
